1 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2015 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 10/14/2019

After the rear brakes were replaced there was a terrible grinding noise when first driving until the car warmed up. It did not happen when first replaced in the summer but when it got colder it got worse. Turned out to be the same caliper issue that was recalled in previous models but no recall for the Cx-5.

2 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2018 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 05/19/2018

I purchased a 2018 mazada cx5 in April. In may I noticed that the brakes were hesitant to stop and that they also make grinding noise. I immediately contacted the service department at mazada. The service advisor told me that because the car was new it would make grinding noise and that they would eventually ease up. It is now November and the issue still exist. In June my passengers seat belt began having difficulty latching causing the censor to go off. This happens daily. In October my tire pressure light came on stating that the tire pressure was low. I placed air in my tires and the censor light never went off. On October 18, 2018, I went to the mazada dealership for a scheduled maintenance, informed the service advisor of my concerns and they stated everything was fine and the censor was reset. Today is November 2, 2018 and my tire censor is back on. My brakes are still grinding and now they slide before stopping and my passenger seat belt still is not latching. This is a safety hazard to myself and passengers.

3 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2016 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 12/08/2017

In August 2016, I bought a brand new 2016 Mazda Cx-5 (dealership: wellesley Mazda). Unfortunately, the car had issues related to my brakes. On December 08, 2017, the brakes of my right rear tire locked up while I was driving in a city street (35mph zone) causing them to overheat to the point where the brake disc got red hot and smoked up, increasing the risk of my tires blowing out/catching fire due to the heat generated by friction. In addition to this being a safety risk for myself and other people on the road, this was extremely inconvenient. My car was in no condition to be driven and I was stranded alone in the middle of the night. This is not the first time this issue occured. I had a similar complaint in August 2017 where the left wheel locked involuntarily while I was driving. I was fortunate that I was able to notice the smoke before things got worse and that this did not cause a collision. Wellesley Mazda replaced the calipers, brake disc etc. Only for that particular tire, despite my repeated requests to replace those for all the tires or for at least that axle. My car has only run ~8,000 miles, I am regular with my car's maintenance and my last service was on 12/04/2017. Mazda is telling me now that this was a known issue with the calipers and there was a service bulletin for this. However, I was not made aware of the this issue and the safety bulletin. This could've been done on multiple occasions: a) when the issue with the left brake happened b) when I reported a grinding noise coming from my car (in sept or oct) c) when I got my car serviced. They were not able to detect this issue and as a safety precaution did not replace the other caliper, a decision that proved to be incorrect and a risk to me and others. There are no recalls either.

4 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2014 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 06/26/2017

The rear brake pads on my Mazda cx 5 grand touring model is worn out to (0. 2 per dealer) at approx 34000 miles. Noticed the problem when the car started making a grinding noise from the rear. Before this there was a very strong vibration of steering when braking at speeds of 55 plus mph. This is very unusual in my experience that a car which is about 2 years old needs new brake pads and rotors replaced. . Read more...

5 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2014 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 11/25/2015

The rear brake pads on my Mazda cx 5 grand touring model is worn out to (0. 2 per dealer) at approx 34200 miles. Noticed this problem a few weeks back when the car started making a grinding noise from the rear. This is very unusual in my experience that a car which is about 2 years and 6 months old needs new brake pads and rotors replaced. On my other cars which are Nissan the brake pads lasted for about 5 years (approx. 60,000 miles). I want to raise this as a complaint. My car is still under warranty. I want Mazda to look into this and advise on a fix. . Read more...

6 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2014 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 06/21/2015

I have had my car for just over a year and heard a grinding noise on the back passenger side. Hearing this I immediately took it to dealership where I bought the car to get it fixed. They tell me that it was the back rear brakes. I have had my Honda accord with 140,000 miles and have only had to get the brakes changed a handful of times three to be exact. This isn't right the company has made some kind of defect in order for this to happen. Please help I have invested $30,000 on this car.

7 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2013 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

I started hearing a grinding noise coming from the back passenger side. I didn't realize it was my car the first few times it happened, thinking what could be wrong on a car less than 2 years old!?! a few days later, the noise became more regular when braking, and was grinding loudly at all stops! I took it to the service dept and they said it was the rotors/brake pads, which needed to be replaced. And of course not covered under my warranty because it was "normal wear and tear" due to rust build up which locked up the brake pad. . . . This does not seem "normal" to me. . . . I have never had a car that needed brakes this soon! something seems defective, but I'm not sure what to do about it!.
