1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 01/25/2020

Made a slow right turn into a parking place to pick up my dogs at the groomer, when I applied brakes to stop, the car accelerated lurching forward. I then took my foot off the brake and reapplied instead of slowing down the car sped up and was only stopped when I hit a brick building. I had two dash warnings "front camera sensor system malfunction" and "forward Smart city bread support malfunction" I am not certain how fast the car was moving when I hit the building but the entire front of the car is significantly damaged. Further the air bags did not deploy. I have photos of both the collision damage and the warning lights. The dealership requested they run diagnostics and found nothing wrong claiming the accident was my fault as I must have put my foot on both the brake and gas at the same time. I am an experienced driver and this was not the case. The also stated the warning lights were a result of the accident not the cause. I am only grateful I was not pulling into a space closer to the door as I would have gone through a plate glass window and most likely would have cause a serious injury to anyone standing in the lobby.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 09/30/2019

While light braking, car brakes jam. . . Causing unintended stop. Dangerous. At no time was a code flagged. Mentioned to girl at desk when in for service 3 times. When car when in for service. Ladt service I believe car was put on diagnostics. Was told nothing found. Because it happens so often, & dealership tells me cannot find any problem. . . I called a mechanic outside of Mazda. Spoke on phone with master mechanic. & described problem. . He informed me problem was a sensor in the transmission. Car shuts down & locks. Because it happens so fast no code is generated. Said is serious problem.

3 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 12/26/2018

12/26/2018 vehicle has 1500 miles on it. Dry clean pavement, 39 degrees f, at night. Slow speed, 15mph, normal braking in congested highway traffic, going straight, anti lock brake system activated and vehicle automatically braked very hard, vehicle behind struck our car from behind because they did not anticipate a very hard brake, conditions did not call for a hard brake. Dash warning lights came on indicating "forward Smart city brake support malfunction" and "front camera sensor system malfunction". Only damage was to rear of vehicle, no injuries. Very dangerous malfunction. Will be bringing to dealership today , 12/27/2018. State troopers at scene and report filed, not yet on hand for submission. Two photos taken minutes after the accident of dash attached.

4 Brake Sensor problem of the 2014 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 07/26/2018

Went in for a service around 55,000 miles and was told that new rear brakes were needed. Got a second opinion and was told that they could go a little longer. Started hearing squeaking, took them back to the mechanic who said they needed replacing. Replaced at 59,000 miles. Went in today 7/26/18 and was told my rear brakes were at 4% and would need replacing by my next visit. This would mean 2 rear brake replacements within 10,000 miles. My front brakes are still fine. I see many complaints about this for the cx 5, there a several tsbs out. Called Mazda who said they weren't aware of this problem and that brakes are considered a normal part of wear and tear. My second issues is that when I put my car in park and attempt to shut if off but it will not power off. This doesn't happen every time, but probably every 4th or 5th time. I read online that it's a transmission sensor issue and that the transmission sensor needs replacing. Both of these issues are very prevalent and I'm hoping there can be a recall on both.

5 Brake Sensor problem of the 2014 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 11/29/2015

2 issues so far with this car: 1st - rear brakes seized up after 30k causing a trail of smoke to follow my car while on the highway, followed by an emergency stop on the side of the road. The hub, rotor, brake caliper, and tires became so hot that the tire pressure sensor went off and upon inspection, the tire pressure had increased from 35psi to over 50psi (tire pressure gauge did not go higher then 50) due to heat. Was told that due to salt and sand (live in cold climate) corrosion caused the issue. Rear brakes and rotors replaced @ $208. 95. Currently fighting Mazda for a refund as this is clearly covered under the 3 year 36k mile warranty per TSB: 04005/15 - see warranty section on 3rd and 4th page. I had family in the car when this happened and am worried about the long term safety of this car and it's braking systems. A rear tire blow out caused by this issue could have caused a fatal crash at highway speeds. 2nd - I have replaced the windshield on this car 5 times now in under 30k miles. I have been told repeatedly that this is due to rock chips, but twice the crack appeared out of no where while the car was parked in a temp controlled garage overnight. I have never had this issue with any other car I have ever owned. The windshields are always on a month long back order and driving with a cracked windshield is against the law, so every time this happens I am out of a car for a month and have to fork over money for a loaner so I may get to work. (Mazda and insurance company refuse to offer or pay for my loader car, or I am told there is not one currently available and I am sol).
