All of a sudden my cooling fan module continues to run after car has been turned off (can last anywhere from 5-10 minutes). Based off of the reviews I'm confused as to why there wasn't a recall for this issue? called local Mazda dealership and they told me it would be $90 for them to just look at it.

Engine overheated while driving in a straight line in traffic at low speed with temperature in the 80's. The engine block cracked as a result. The engine and the complete cooling fan assembly had to be replaced. The engine temperature had risen high on several occasions before this, while idling, driving at low speeds, and driving at moderate and highway speeds, temperatures ranging from 50's to 90's. When the overheating occurred the air conditioning also failed to function properly. I had complained to the dealership about this issue and they claimed it was a fuse. They replaced the fuse, but it did not resolve the issue.

When vehicle is turned off the engine cooling fan sounds like the car in still running. . . It revs up and back down and it keeps repeating this three or four times. I thought the hood was going to blow off but the temperature gauge inside the car does not say it is overheating. I believe this the result of a faulty cooling fan control module. This control module should really be recalled because it is probably causing other problems and it is kind of scary when your car in sitting in your garage turned off but keeps getting louder and louder.

I noticed the cooling fan coming on every time I turn the car on and it doesn't turn off for several minutes after the car is turned off. The engine is running in the normal temperature range, so I don't think the fan should be running constantly. I took the car to my mechanic, who notified me of a recall by Mazda for the fan control module for the same production year and the same make/model. I reached out to Mazda, but they notified me my VIN didn't fall in the range of the recall. It seems odd that the same product would have the same issue in the same car but not be covered by the recall. I wanted to notify the NHTSA of the issue in hopes that Mazda would resolve the issue. Thanks.
The 2002 mpv has had recurring problems with the fan control module. Their has been a recall on this item, but after having had the fan control module repaired under warranty the same problem resurfaced after only 24,000 miles -- and this time was not covered under warranty. The repair cost $233. 35.

I 've had to replace the water overflow bottle (sub tank) three times. Each time there was a pin hold in them, which allows the car to run hot and shut down. I truly believe there is a defect with those bottles. I own a 2002 Mazda 626. I had to purchase the bottles each time. They request that you give up old for the new.
While waiting in my car at the bank with the air conditioning on I noticed an odd smell and then the temp gauge started rising fast. I pulled to the side immediately and turned my car off and waited 30 minutes. I took my car in the next day and was informed my cooling fan control unit needed replacing, which they did. I had to ask for my invoice which was given to me. It is working fine now, but I find it odd that such a new car could have such a problem.
