1 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/23/2010

Mazda6 2007 March: car loses power for no apparent reason and with no warning. It may be a faulty egr valve. When failure happens the car will not accelerate. This has happened on narrow road and on motorway when overtaking. Both times other road users have had to take evasive action to avoid hitting my car as it slowed.

2 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2009 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 12/23/2008

My 2009 Mazda 6 I touring at during driving at 20-25 mph or at 50-80 mph produces a sulfur emission from the air vents inside as well as from the exhaust pipes. This began when the odometer was just over 300 miles. Even though this car requires regular unleaded octane rating 87 gas, octane rating 92 has been used as well as generic brands of gas. Since switching back from octane 92 gas to regular unleaded octane 87 gas (as advised from the metro Mazda dealership in MA) and from the generic to a more recognized brand of gas (mobile), the sulfur emission from the air vents has been greatly reduced to become a rare occurrence, but is still there, as recent as 10/22/09 on the highway with about 4200 miles on the odometer. The sulfur emission still comes out from the exhaust pipes and is most notable in the garage whether the car is running or not. The smell is still noticed when outside, running or not, and happens frequently, almost every time the car is shut off. Whether distance in travel is short or long, the emission from both areas remains and has been ongoing since the first occurrence.

3 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 12/31/2007

Pre catalytic converter failed, destroying my v6 engine. I thought it was a joke, but I heard several cases with other people with the same vehicle; 2004 Mazda 6s. $3000 for 4 new catalytic converters and $4000 for a new v6 engine=$7000. . . . I don't think so.

4 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/02/2007

Purchased brand new 07 Mazda 6with 41 miles on it on June 30, 2007. As of July 2, 2007 was returned to the dealership service dept with only 150 miles. Heard a rattle coming from the area of the converter, and also a high pitched spealing coming from the engine area when the vehicle was stopped and only in reverse and drive and when the vehicle gets hot. Service dept. Repaired some springs and a doughnut seal in exaust pipe going to the manifold. Picked car back up on July 5, 2007 with now 170 miles on it, drove home about 7 to 8 miles and heard the same rattling and high pitched squealing, only it was worse, also now the vehicle feels like it's sluggish, and noticed that while driving once again back to the service dept. That day, while on the highway driving 55 mph and trying to accel, the vehicle shifts from 5th down to 2nd and then tries to go back up, also redlines while trying to accel. July 6, 2007 called service dept. They told me it's the catalytic converter, I asked about the shifting problem, they told me they didn't feel the vehicle had a problem with the transmission. My vehicle now has 225 miles on it since I left it. The service dept. Is putting on more miles than I am, and I have a brand new car that I have only been able to drive 2 days out of 7.

5 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 05/10/2005

Engine needed to be replaced twice within less than 5 1/2 yrs. Transmission needed to be replaced within 6yrs. Brakes needed to be replaced every year and a half. Interior cheaply made. All part on this vehicle are plastic and brake very easy. Motor mounts needed to be replace within 4 yrs. This vehicle is a owners nightmare . I would never recommended anyone to purchase this car. Repairs cost more than the car is worth. Engine repair $6000. 00, motor mounts $900, transmission $2400-$4800, brakes $400, and the cost goes on. (lemon).

6 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

The clutch has begun to fail. The dealer indicated that it would be five months before one became available. The clutch, starter, cd changer, and panel cover were defective. There was rust on the door sashes. There was a smell from the exhaust that entered the vehicle, there were vibrations and rattles in the door, which had been adjusted. There were problems with the master cylinder and the leaking fuel sender unit in the gas tank. The starter would grind and the clutch shuddered.

7 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 10/01/2003

I purchased my 2003 Mazda 6s in October 2003. Since I have owned the car I gets poor gas mileage on it (about 16-18 miles per gallon). I do plenty of city driving but I still feel that this is not adequate. Even when I drive on the highway the gas mileage averages poorly. There is also a smell coming from the exhaust when vehicle is in motion. The vehicle also rev's up higher before switching from lower gears to higher gears. I do not 'jack rabbit' start or stop the vehicle. There is also alot of brake dust on the rims of the front wheels. Acceleration is very poor. There is also a jerk when the vehicle switches from first gear to second. Don't get me wrong I love the way the vehicle looks, which is the main reason why I bought the vehicle, but the overall quality has turned out to be much poorer than I had expected.

8 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

On July 4th weekend it started making a clicking noise when you drive it 65mph. The dealership decided it was a defective catalytic conveter. I had to drive it 3 weeks making this noise. Then the check engine light came on. Then I got a recall for the brake system. Now it's Aug. 8 I am still in a rental car. All I want is for the dealership to take back the car, cancel the loan & go our seperate ways.

9 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 06/05/2003

There is an odor coming from the exhaust. I have taken the car to the dealer two times for this, and they told me it was the gas I was buying. So I started buying gas out of town for a while, the odor continues. I have 12,000 miles on the car, and the odor keeps getting progressively worse. But the dealer keeps telling me it is the gas, and offers no help.

10 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

It was stated that the consumer's vehicle has the presence of rust on the door sashes of all four doors. Within eight months of owning the vehicle, there were other problems such as a defective cd player, a persistent sulfurous smell coming from the exhaust which entered the vehicle, a defective fuse access cover and the removal of the interior driver and passenger door panels to remedy a rattling noise when driving.
