I have a 2012 E350 with less than 95000 miles and I see these vehicles were recalled in the past for their fuel tank manufacturer malfunction but my VIN number was not included. This car went numerous times to the mechanics and the fuel components fixed but it still leak gas and smells even when I do not drive the car. I spent over $15000 on this matter. This is now becoming a safety issue for me and my neighbors. I don't know what to do. Here is what happened. All began February 2023, I towed the car to an approved mb mechanics who said fixed the car. 9 month later, I brought the car back for the same issue. Strong fuel smell. The attachments for repairs will show the work done. Some repeated and recharged to me. The following year April 2024, I woke up one day with a fas leak all over my drive way and a strong smell of gas. I had the car towed for a repair cost of $7754 total. I am constantly having the same problem with the car and wanted to alert here to bring Mercedes Benz awareness to their faulty parts putting consumer lives at risk.

Recall exists related to a potential issue with the high-pressure fuel pump, which could lead to engine stalling and increase crash risk. My 2012 mercedes E350 stops the engine in the middle of the road couple of times and for some reason, its stops or shut off the engine completely. The last time I was pulling out on the main road and stop right there. I made a big traffic, and I was scared because I cannot start the car. The guy stops and help me to push out of the road, but we cannot push the vehicle unless someone is inside the car. If I go out, it will automatically go on "park" and cannot push the car. When you check the dashboard the check engine light is not on. 2nd incident I bring this car to Mercedes Benz dealership, and I told them that there is something wrong in my car, I explain what was wrong but, the guy I talk to, told me that if the check engine light is not coming on, my car is fine. I repeated that the car stops ones in a while when the temperature light is on inside the dashboard and the engine shuts off. He told me if the check engine light turns on then I bring it back. I show the code reading but the same thing he said. I left and went back home and suddenly I get stranded again; I got stock in the middle of the road for 3 to 4 minutes. I start the car and suddenly the car starts and find the nearest place to pull over. I let it call down for couple of hours and start again, the car starts and try to go back home. When I was in the interstate hwy. My car engine shut off, so I quickly pull over, but I was having a hard time to turn the wheel. I believe that this is very unsafe and should have mercedes dealer has to repair this issue. I research on the website that 2012 Mercedes Benz E350 have recall to a potential issue with the high- pressure pump and other things like battery fuse relay box positive terminal and low fuel circuit.
[xxx]. The engine intake manifold on our 2012 mercedes E350 (64,000 miles) exploded with enough force to bend the hood up 2 inches. It was a damp cold morning & the engine had not been started in 12 hours. The car was not locked & the key fob was nowhere close. The fuel level was under 3/4 full. This happened when wife went to get something out of the car and when she pulled the passenger door handle to open - b o o m !!!! if this happened 30 minutes later, I would have been under that hood checking the fluid levels for a trip to san francisco. I would have been seriously hurt or killed!. It was towed to mercedes-benz of carlsbad, carlsbad California on [xxx] & they have not been able to identify the cause. They could replace the broken parts at the cost of $8,000 but that doesn’t fix the problem. And if it happens again & hurts or kills someone, they could be held liable. Similar intake explosions have occurred on these mercedes engines but mercedes is denying any knowledge even though it’s clearly a dangerous design flaw in this intake system. Recently, I have noticed a strong gas smell emanating from the rear driver’s side of the vehicle. Upon further research, I discovered that there was an open recall affecting mercedes e-class vehicles of the same year for a similar issue. However,my vehicle’s VIN is not included in this recall. Given that my vehicle is experiencing the same problem described in the recall, I am concerned about the safety implications and believe this matter warrants immediate attention. I would like clarification on why my vehicle is excluded from the recall despite exhibiting the same issue. Additionally, I would like to know if I am expected to pay out of pocket for repairs related to what appears to be a manufacturing defect acknowledged by mercedes-benz for other vehicles of the same year and model. I kindly request that this matter be escalated for review, and I look forward to your prompt response. My goal is to ensure the safety of my vehicle without incurring unfair expenses for a known issue.
Fuel system gasoline smell of gas and the threading in the crease of seats coming apart . . I noticed that some of the E350 2014 has the fuel systems gasoline problem … all of the E350 are having this fuel gasoline problem.
This is a pzev vehicle. When the car is filled over 3/4th of the way, the driver's side near the back tire starts to leak the fuel. There was no warning lights, just the smell and the leaks. It's obvious why this is a safety hazard. This was not inspected by anyone other than myself as it was quite obvious after removing the back seat and accessing the sending unit location. This started after I resolved a fuel pump issue (back in March, resolved this month) mercedes refused to handle ($3k) and noticed on or around 9/24/24.

I have a 2014 E350 coupe. It has a major fuel leak that is immensely dangerous and could cause immediate harm/death if I did not remove the seat and inspect the fuel line. There is a recall on the 4 door model for reference. 15v-792 / 2015110006 recall summary a fitting that joins the fuel hose and fuel feed line may develop a leak or completely disconnect. Fuel leakage from the top of the fuel tank, leaking underneath the back seat. I'm told there was a past campaign to fix these issues in the sedan Mercedes Benz E350. The problem was found by the fumes in my garage where I park the vehicle. My smoke and carbon monoxide alarm kept going off inside my house, and I had to call the fire department to help me identify where the fumes were coming from. No warning lamps or messages on the vehicle are present. When I called the dealership they told me there hasn't been a recall on the vehicles. I have had a diagnostic with the dealership.
The fuel pump assembly seals leaked fuel into my vehicle and saturated the interior of my car.

I am writing in regards to the 5 vehicle recalls that were for the make, and model of my car that is showing as having no recalls for. The recalls involved air bags, air bag software, fuel filter flange, and I am also wondering with the driver headrest deployment module if that is associated with an airbag module; as when I had purchased the vehicle I had found out that both my airbag modules had malfunctioned with showing the srs lights on the dash. I was told that mercedes of sarasota, FL had replaced the passenger airbag module by mercedes of south orlando. When asked for a printout verification of this repair showing to be completed; they said they couldn’t provide me with this information. As proof of the service to being completed could not be provided. I had tken my car to their to have them look into this, and the tpms sensors showing malfunctioned; communication error message, and they couldn’t figure out what the problem was causing this. I had to take my car to an auto electrician to find out the problem; that I had found out that a 100 amp fusible link had blown, causing all those problems with also the roof wasn’t working. Along with I was smelling fuel. I found out about the recall for these items after getting them repaired out of pocket by the auto electrician mike from peak audio, and electric, and as to the fuel filter flange I had to pay like $1,200 to replace as they had replaced the fuel level sending unit that include the fuel filter flange. I would like refun; still have the headrest driver side that needs to be replaced. I found out that their is an recall for this make, and model of car that had said the air bag deployment software was under recall for those vehicles; which I believe could have triggered the deployment of the head rest while I was driving; as if I had been near a car; I could have been involved in an accident. I think that this should have an open ticket for repair placed on all 2012 mercedes E350 cabriolet blue efficiency.
On [xxx] I was driving and the vehicles stalled in the middle of the street, I couldn’t start it back. I managed to contact aaa and had the vehicle towed to my home because it around 6pm and auto repair shops were closed. Next morning I had aaa towed the vehicle to a local auto repair shop and they told me that fuel pump failed. It would have been very dangerous if we were driving on the freeway, not to mention I had my 85 year old mother in the passenger seat. Please help me as I am sure what I need to do now. It’s a mercedes-benz model E350 2008. I can be reached at [xxx] my name is [xxx] . My car has 87,200 miles. Thank you in advance for all your helps. Smell gasoline when tank get filled up. Engine light is on , suspension make a lot of noise , power steering pump also.
Smell of gasoline in the cabin and real bad outside of car.
The engine is misfiring and not powering correctly during driving. Car is failing to take off and today almost caused an accident due to the car would not pull off from the traffic light with oncoming traffic due to loss of power. The top of the fuel pump is leaking (driver rear side, under the seat) and the leaking can be seen outside of the car as a moisture on the underside of the car. The fuel filter side (passenger side, under the seat) has a small amount of fuel moisture. The current mileage on car is 76,620 miles.
I am the owner of a 2013 mercedes-benz E350 and am writing to formally express my concern regarding a persistent fuel leak issue I have experienced with my vehicle. Over the past months, I have spent more than $4,000 attempting to address this problem. Repairs have included the replacement of the fuel canister and the fuel pump. Despite these efforts, the vehicle continues to leak fuel from the area near the rear right tire, both when the vehicle is in motion and when it is parked. This issue presents a significant safety risk, not only to myself but to others on the road. I am aware that there is an existing recall for the 2014 E350 model related to similar fuel leakage problems. Given the similarities in design and the nature of the defect, I strongly urge mercedes-benz to investigate this matter and consider extending the recall to include the 2013 E350 models as well. I believe this is a critical safety matter that warrants immediate attention to prevent any potential accidents or hazards. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and to a resolution that prioritizes customer safety.

With less than 40,000 miles on the odometer, I noticed a gas smell both inside the car and outside. I was able to access the fuel filter assembly on the top of the gas tank and found it had a substantial leak resulting in a puddle of fuel on the assembly. The car has never been in a wreck on had any damage that would cause this problem. I researched and found earlier years of the same model had this problem resulting in Mercedes Benz extending the warranty to 150,000 miles for this part. They have refused to warranty my car. This is a major safety issue and by releasing gas fumes into the atmosphere is an environmental problem as well.
This is in regard to E350 2010. Gas smell after tank fill up (only when full). Fuel pump cover on the driver side under the back seat. The tank cover (plastic) breaks and leaks. Similar problem was noted on previous models (2009) and recall was issued. . Read more...
There is a strong odor of gasoline inside the passenger compartment and around the outside of the vehicle when the gas tank is filled. A previous maintenance code of 0456 was triggered. Several repairs have been done to try and solve this problem, but the issue still remains. There is currently no recall for this specific VIN model but Mercedes Benz have issued the recall for other models with the same issue.
My cars fuel sender/pump unit is leaking and it was diagnosed by mercedes-benz of chandler. I will attach report for same. They have given estimate for 1800 to repair it. This is common problem across multiple mercedes vehicles and they have done recall on other models on this but they have excluded my model. Since the problem is generic to many mercedez vehicles they should honor this in safety recall. Please see this article about this recall on other models. They have highlighted to me that its a safety issue as there is strong fuel odor from car on this. . Read more...
Gasoline smell all times inside of the car.
Purchased vehicle may 22, 2023 at direct auto sales of orlando, florida. Approximately two and a half weeks later the subframe broke away from the support arm rendering the vehicle in an inoperable and unsafe condition. A local mechanic said this vehicle should not have been driven. He said we could have been in an accident and suffered severe injuries or even death. Mercedes benz of south orlando inspected the vehicle and reported the subframe, fuel tank, front and rear axles, exhaust system, support arms, motor mounts, etc need replacing. Cost is $30,000. How could anyone fail to see damage this extensive. And not report it.
On October 6, 2021 I took my vehicle to Mercedes Benz of stevens creek because ewhen I filled my gas tank there was a very strong smell of gasoline inside the car and in the garage. The service department found the passenger side fuel sender upper cover leaking. The same situation is occuring presently, April 5, 2023, very strong smell of gasoline inside the car and garage after I fill the car with gasoline. The Mercedes Benz of stevens creek invoice # is 934052, tag # tek93. This is a safety issue that could ceate a fire hazard if the vehicle were to be involved in an accident.
Pzev fuel tank leaks at top but is not repairable. Replacement requires complete tank replacment which is not economically feasilble. This forces owners to continue to operate vehicle with fuel leakage since repair of the tank is not possible. In older models a simple gasket change would resolve such leaks, in the pzev tank leaks can not be repaired and thus are left uncorrected. Many of these vehicles are now owned by minority owners who are unable to pay $5000 to repair a defective design. Mb refuses to support owners.

I just recently discovered that after filling my car with gas, there is a strong odor of gas filled in the garage for over 24hours. When I googled the issue, I discovered that NHTSA did confirm issues with mercedes E350 from 2003-2009. However, I have also discovered that several owners outside of that model year period are having the exact issue. I ask you please reconsider and open the recall so that mercedes can pay to fix my car before a fatality occurs. Thank you barbara.
I noticed about to 6 months or less that my car would shut off or stall after starting ignition and also hearing water sloshing behind the dashboard and the radio does not work and the rear camera goes on/off which is safety hazard, and the engine symbol remain lighted up even after checking all components. Also, on a few occasion my floorboard in the passenger back seat would be soak and wet. I took the car to my mechanic, and he inform that the drain valve was not working properly. After doing some research on the internet I found that this particular incident was happening in several of mercedes years 2009-2011 e50, that it was a recall on the water drain system. Also, on 01/17/23 my sunroof was working without any problems, I attempted to close it and it stop midday and I hear the motor working, but the sunroof did not move, I did more research and found a recall on the bonding glue for sunroof and the glass was detached without warning. Even though my vehicle is not on the recall list, my car is having the same exacts problems and issues and reported by NHTSA. I would appreciate as response or advice to solve these problems, right now my car is a safety hazard to myself and other drivers. Thank you for cooperation in this matter in advance. My case from corporate mercedes customer care#2-36404533747.
I notice a strong smell of gas inside my vehicle immensing from the back seat area of my car. And it's stronger everytime bi fill up the gas cap is placed back correctly and no top off ever.
I recently started smelling gas in my car after refueling. I was told by my mechanic that mercedes was replacing fuel pumps and fuel tanks free of charge . Mercedes benz customer care has advised this isn't so. This is an expensive repair and I am hoping Mercedes Benz can cover the cost of this repair and if not, offer substantial assistance.
Fuel smell coming from the rear, car is a pzev and out of warranty, smell is very strong and I am unable to drive it with a child in the back because they get dizzy. Unable to fill up with gas up to a certain point or smell will linger.
