Check engine light is on mechanic says it's a fuel tank issue.
My car was recalled for the steering control module issue in 2016, recall 15s18 and 15n01. Brought it into my Ford dealer in 2016 and Ford declined to fix the steering control module repair. In 2016, car was well within the 10 year window and mileage restriction. Now, my car still is under 150k miles, is at 124,000. The power steering stopped working last week. The error message on dashboard states, power steering control error. Brought it into shop and mechanic diagnosed it as error with power steering control module and loss of power steering assist. Mechanic advised me to return to Ford as this problem was under recall 15v34. Ford refuses to repair my car as it is past the 10 year warranty window. If Ford would not have denied this repair in 2016, my car power steering control module would not have failed last week. Now my car is unsafe to drive. Ford should have fixed my car and now it is undrivable. They know that 2011 Mercury Milans have this issue and have abdicated responsibility for the safety of my car.

I experienced a loss of power steering while driving and a dash display "service power steering now" and "service advancetrac". The messages started just before the failure. The lack of power steering was a risk to everyone as the car could only be turned with significant effort and not respond to quick movement. The dash messages are still on after a restart and the car cannot be driven because of safety. My independent mechanic confirmed the issue and fix to be a bad rack. He noted the rack part number is the same as the 2011 Milan, currently under recall for this issue. However, the 2010 is not included.

Started vehicle, "power steering assist fault" message appeared on dash message center, unable to turn steering wheel. Turn car off, waited, turn back on, message appeared again. Tried an additional 3 times, same results. Had to leave the car where I was visiting.
My power steering light came on and then immediately the wheel got tight. I was unable to turn the wheel and then eventually the car is un drivable. There is a lot of complaints about this happening to thousands of cars and it is still under investigation. Imagin someone jumps out in front of you and you are stopping and unable to maneuver your car out of the way. By the grace of god I was able to do so. Please advise me when this recall is open.
After turning the car on one morning, an alert displayed on the dash saying "power steering assist fault" and "service advancetrac". I turned the car off, and back on, but the same message appeared. When driving, there is no power steering and it is difficult to turn the steering wheel. The Milan only has 110,000 miles. Ford needs to issue a recall as this is obviously a defect affecting many customers.

I have a 2010 Mercury Milan with only 60000 miles on it and the electric power steering went out. It happened while I was driving causing the car to hard right. The part costs $900 and then it has to be programmed at a dealership. I know there was a recall for this but only for the 2011 model. After researching and reading other safety complaints, it's pretty clear that a recall should be done for the 2010 model.

The first symptom was the steering wheels failure to return to center after going around a corner. That went on for about 3 weeks before the service advance trac warning came on. The vehicle started to have a terrible noise when turning the wheel which can only be described as the sound of bones breaking. The sound is increasing louder at slow speeds. Then the advance trac system failure message came on, and the vehicle lost all power steering assist. When turning a corner the steering wheel almost gets stuck at the 2,3,4,5 positions. There was a massive Ford recall for this make and model with the exact same failed part, but for some reason Ford decided to not include my vehicle in this recall, despite it having the failure. This is a very expensive repair, and at this point in the vehicles life basically renders it a total loss. This should be remedied by Ford for all vehicles with this part.

Steering became hard to steer. Power steering assist failure light on and 75 years old hardly could turn wheel. Many 2010 Milan's are having same problem. I cannot afford the repair. I noticed 2011-2012 Milan's are recalled for a fix not 2010??? please help.
Periodically I would receive a a steering assist fault. Now my steering is completely out with the same warning. With the steering assist out the vehicle is very hard to steer and dangerous. There is a recall for 2010 mariner and other Ford vehicles but not the Mercury with the same system. Also the 2011 Milan has recalls for this issue but want me to pay thousands to repair my 2010 it’s the same system and parts for this issue.
