A driver drove head on into my drivers seat door hard enough that his front bumper completely detached from his car and my door could not open, close, or lock, and my car was not drivable. My car has side airbags. No airbag deployed. I had to go to the hospital immediately after the accident. There is no open recall on my 2020 Mini 2 door hardtop. Shouldn't an airbag have deployed?.

The contact owns a 2009 Mini Cooper. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the seat belt warning light illuminated even though there was no passenger seated in the passenger’s seat. The contact stated that the warning light remained illuminated with the passenger’s seat occupied and the seat belt properly fastened. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
The passenger airbag with seat belt icon is always indicating no one is in the seat or not buckled. The alert icon for the lighting is also on and we have replaced bulbs and still won’t work and the windows at times just randomly stops would have to unplug battery for it to reset for the windows only. I just bought this car and have registered since. Was told there was several recalls with the same issue I am experiencing. Please include my car for the proper recalls so I can have a safe reliable vehicle for my family.

Passenger airbag sensor is off even when passenger is in the seat and airbag should be on.
The airbag warning light randomly remains on. From what I understand this is a known issue as there has been previous recalls by Mini. This could potentially mean the airbag system is faulty and non-operational. Based on online searches, it seems like a lot of there problem are wiring problems though, bad connections. The previous recalls should be extended further, as there are other cars with the same problem, like mine.

Error code is 93c3 passenger seat occupancy detector. This seems to be a known problem on almost every Mini Cooper and should be recalled and replaced. Car barely has 63k miles on it.

On almost all r56 model Mini Coopers the passenger seat occupancy sensor has a major malfunction that causes it to fail and pop up an airbag sensor light even when someone is sitting in the seat, Mini USA did not issue a recall but rather a reimbursement form for owners in 2017 the last year of production for that car and did not publicly disclose this. I feel as though this should be a recall as it is common enough for bypass devices to be normal for this car.
Mini BMW is fully aware of an issue with their oc3 detection mat on the passengers side and offered a extended warranty of 10 years/ 100k miles. This is insufficient coverage for a crucial saftey part and has led to a grey market production of occupancy detection mats "emulators" which are being sold online as the only way to have your airbag system "functional".

Airbag light is deployed when passenger is sitting in seat. Module under seat is not recognizing the passenger and airbags are turned off. This is a safety concern in likeliness of an accident the passenger could be injured.
As per NHTSA there was a recall the replace oc3 seat occupancy mat but I never received recall notice and just passed 10 years with 40k millage and started getting air bag light, dealer is not replacing it under warranty, if they was a recall they should have replaced my seat earlier so that I would not have this issue today. Is there a way to extend warranty to longer time or recall all the cars and replace them so that we do not have to spend 2k to replace it? "01 11 16_oc3 seat occupancy mat: limited warranty extension to 10 years/120,000 miles".
Passenger occupancy sensor malfunctions all the time and there are hundreds of claims regarding this issue but was never addressed by the manufacturer the same issue prompted a recall in older models but has not been corrected in newer ones.
Unoccupied passenger side airbags; all front & backseat bags deployed after passenger side tires hit pothole on road. Pieces of interior, including decorative plastic, interior light covers were projected across cabin & hit me. I had no idea what had happened. Car shut off shortly after incident. It was night, I was sitting in middle of my lane, unable to start Mini. Good samaritans helped push it into parking lot while waiting for assistance. After 15 minutes, car started and was driven home. I had slight injuries from being hit by hard material projectiled across cabin. Very thankful I was the only occupant because if a passenger had been in the seat, they would have most definitely sustained injuries. I had to cut the airbags out in order to have clear lines of sight before driving the following day. I’m fearful that the drivers side air bags may do this as well. I have owned this vehicle since 2004. Not aware of history prior to 2004;(accidents, original airbags?). Only know it came from a dealer in CA. (possibly “friendship” may be name of town or dealership). I have not had repairs made yet. I don’t drive this vehicle daily. There are no police reports since there was no need. No insurance claims since 2002 model. There were no malfunctions with the warning light prior to incident. However, the following day when I drove, the airbag indicator light came on for passenger side. I did not find a recall but not sure if I would for a 22 year old vehicle.

Nhtsa campaign number: 15v205000 , this recall was not for my vehicle. According to the numbers and years but, it was manufactured at the same time in 2007 . Same as convertable by the same company. . . Plus they have not fixed frm. I boutght this car possibly 3rd hand but I regisdtered with Mini. So my codes are up and the wanring lights are there and I was wanting the information as to what the part number or serial number is for the recalled part, would that not be a way to confirm if it is part of a problem?.

The passenger occupancy seat sensor is defective (as reported by many other owners of this vehicle model). The sensor is very costly to replace in terms of parts ($1,500) and labor ($1,500) and Mini does not sell the sensor separately as it is embedded in the seat foam. The defective sensor does not recognize a passenger sitting in the passenger seat and deactivates the passenger airbag which is an essential, lifesaving device fitted to a small vehicle. When involved in a major vehicle collision, without a working airbag, the risk of fatality drastically increases. The sensor is also responsible for not deploying the airbag if a passenger under 100lbs is sitting in the seat ie. A child. Again, this is a massive safety concern especially due to other owners resorting to a cheap aftermarket bypass module which will always deploy the airbag. This solution could seriously injure or cause fatalities for passengers under 100lbs. Other Mini models with the same electronic occupancy sensor problems have had recalls issued by the NHTSA and has not issued recalls for vehicles with the same issue consistently. It is the NHTSA's responsibility to hold the manufacturer accountable for all vehicle models with similar defects impacting the safe and consistent operation of life preservation devices such as airbags especially when repair costs for these defective devices are cost prohibitive for vehicle owners to replace.
The passenger front seat airbag sensor is malfunctioning on a large number of these vehicles. Doing an internet search for my fault code, 93c3 reveals a lot of discussion about the problem. There had been a recall on earlier Mini Coopers for the same problem. I suspect they have not solved the problem and there should be a recall for this r 56 model.

Wmwmf73507tt82827. Airbag sensor recall. My car is part of a recall under Mini recall 23v-xxx: footwell module. I took my car to a dealer and they told me that they would not repair it because my car is a 2007. My mileage is 102,000k miles. The notice says im covered but they say im not. The recall notice is for the year of my car and they are saying my car is too old. This recall is for the year of my car so I am not understanding. A light comes on that shows the passenger airbag. Upon inspection by the dealer, it is a faulty seat mat sensor and needs to be replaced and cost $2,120. 56. I dont have that kind of money. This should be addressed under the recall. My name is melody l. Light, 16022 halldale Ave. , gardena CA, 90247. Phone #313-212-9415. The dealership is Mini Cooper downtown los angeles. 6333 s almeda los angeles CA 90001. I never received this recall notice and knew of this only because the light indicator came on.
BMW/Mini have known about a faulty airbag sensor in the seats, yet never did a recall. The passenger side airbag does not operate when someone sits in the seat due to a faulty sensor on the seat cushion. BMW was around $1600 to replace this. Big safety concern if a crash happens and air bag does not go off. Should be a factory recall.
I purchased the vehicle used with airbag light showing on the speedometer gauge cluster. Searched with VIN for recalls but showed 0 unrepaired recalls. Tried clearing the light with my launch creader BMW v2 scan tool. Light flashes a few times and goes away but immediately appears on the speedometer gauge cluster. This would happen everytime. Wires are intact with no signs of damages to all 3 wire connectors under the seat.
Driver left the roadway to the outside of a curve to the left, sideswiping a telephone pole and spinning at least one time back onto and off the roadway again before coming to rest. Impact to the passenger front wheel, and entire passenger side, without impacting front or rear end of the vehicle. C pillars deployed, as well as seatbelt pretensioner. Impact was at 55+ mph. No air bags deployed. Dash now indicates fault or error in air bags.

The contact owns a 2013 Mini Cooper. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the passenger's side seat occupancy sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 106,000.
My passenger seat airbag warning is illuminated, with associated chime. I am also getting a orange warning light indicating the passenger airbag is inop. This is intermittent with a passenger occupying the passenger seat. Lights go on and off with movement of the passenger. There is a current recall for the convertible model of the r56 Mini Cooper.
Restraint system malfunction fault in passenger-restraint system effecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. Having to replace passenger seat or sensor to indicate I have a passenger so the airbag will deploy. It looks like there may have been a recall for this in the past according to an article I found, but my VIN does not come up as needing this item replaced. Cost is approximately $800.

02/16/2023 I purchase Mini Cooper s from a private owner I paid cash 6,0000 for the car 2 months later my car broke down I had my car towed to a shop I was told that my motor mounts had no bolts or screws and that what cause my car to break down it also broke my intake and wheel bearings had to be replaced total cost 1,600. 00 on 08/04/2023 my car breaks down I was told that my valve broke and two cylinders needed to be replace the mechanic also told me that my card did not have the miles that it showing on the odometer when I purchase my car odometer read 156,000 miles I was told my mechanic that my car has almost 300,000 miles and the memory brain on my car is ready it a 2006 but my VIN number said 2010 im having to replace my engine on my car still in th shop at I already paid up front 4200.
No incident yet. The airbag passenger side sensor keeps coming on constantly and I don't know if it is going to deploy or what. No one is sitting in seat but sensor constantly ringing. Started approximately 2-3 months ago intermittent and now happens daily.
Passenger seat occupancy sensor failure. This is a very common fault in the r56 series Mini Cooper. The manufacture has not initiated a recall. There are vendors selling "bypass" kits which will cause unsafe air bag deployment in an infant is in the seat.
Passenger seat occupancy sensor fails there's a warning light for passenger airbag off , and also the airbag light on the dash panel never goes away ,even when a passenger is sitting on it. Is a common thing on Minis , the dealer charges $100 to reset it within obd tool.
Starting June 2023 the airbag indicator light would turn on when I put a bag or even something light on the passenger seat. Now it randomly goes on if I hit a bump in the road. Keep in mind I don't have an actual passenger that sits in the "passenger seat". Which is completely baffling me! please create a recall Mini/BMW corporation, because I see that the 2011 Mini's are all having this problem!.
Occupant side airbag sensor is defective my mechanic put a code reader to verify it’s a 2008 hatchback and I see they have recalled all the convertibles but not the sedans I would think the same airbag sensor is in my car are there any updates to my car because the replacement is very very expensive and the airbag failure light is a pain to have displaying.
There is a known issue with the passenger seat occupancy sensor that trips the airbag/seatblet lights and, I assume, doesn't turn off the airbag in the applicable situations.
BMW issued a recall 15v-205 safety recall, to cover the airbag sensor in the passenger seat of my vehicle, a 2006 Mini Cooper s. The failure error was in the airbag sensor in the passenger seat, and the system warned of potential hazard with the passenger airbag. My car had a recall fix in 2018 for this fault. Now some 4 years later the same fault has arisen in the same sensor and system. I returned to BMW Mini who carried out the previous recall to have this fixed again. They said that while their repairs and parts generally carry an 8-year warranty, they do not warrant recall repairs. They wanted over $2,000 to fix this issue. As this is a repeat of the original fault, and the car has under 100,000 miles I believe it should be covered, as their repair and or part has again failed. The date below is when I took it for the recall and was refused the warrenty repair.

Run out of lane over raised median hit 2 road signs head on they flew over the car into opposite side of traffic and into a ditch at 45mph. Airbags did not deploy despite broken frame, collapsed suspension, all 4 no flat tires were flat and front end damage.
There have been at least 7 write-ups about air bag failure on this model reported to you. When a passenger sits in the seat of my car, with the seat belt on, 01 the airbag light and seat belt light come on. If I have an accident the airbag on the passenger side will not deploy, leading to death or injury to the passenger. This has been reported to a Mini dealership. They will inspect it at my cost to see if it rates as a safety item. It is available for inspection as I can't drive it with a passenger and I can't leave my disabled wife alone at home. The car has 92323 miles on it. [xxx]--- [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
