My 2005 Galant has been experiencing brake problems I reported it to Mitsubishi dealer before my warranty expired and they told me there was nothing wrong just a glaze. I finally took it somewhere else to get the brakes done they replaced the pads 2 weeks later the brakes started making noise since then I have taken them back for the same problem over and over again all they tell me, its a glaze but the noise gets louder. The engine also makes a clicking noise that doesn't sound right.

I bought my vehicle November 2007. I have brought my vehicle in a number of times to have my breaks done and then and nothing has been resolved but switch pads. I took my vehicle to a specialist and I was told the rotors were bad but this was a brand new vehicle. In Feb 09 I had the dealership change out all brake pads but they were still sqeaking. Now im back a point a.

I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Galant and have had it in the shop repeatedly for the front suspension, brakes, electrical problems and now I'm having transmission problems and lots of engine noise. My front suspension has a squawking sound everytime you go over a speed bump, the whole front end has been rebuilt but it is still doing the same thing. This started at about 8,800 miles and there is now 23,000 and the dealership is telling me there is nothing wrong
my brakes have been squeaking since about 8,800 miles also and they have replaced my front pads since there was a tech bulletin placed and yet this has still not fixed the squeaking. My engine idle fluctuates while sitting in drive and my engine has a loud start up sound almost like there is an exhaust leak but there is not. My transmission when first shifted into reverse stutters as I pull out of my driveway and when in drive you can feel the transmission stutter as long as the car is cold. My car also pulls to left within 4 seconds after not holding the steering wheel extremely tight and this started after they replaced the rack-in-pinion. I have a metal rattling sound coming from the front driver's side of the vehicle but when it is taken into the dealership they state that they could not produce the concern. Yet they have heard it before and had to replace all the springs and pins in the brakes. My tires have worn down dramatically on the outsides even though the correct amount of tire pressure is in the tires. There has not been a time when I have ever been less than 3 lbs under pressure.

At about 6000 miles my brakes began to squeak. The dealer replaced the rear pads. The brakes still squeaked. The dealer replaced the front pads, saying they had found a "service bulletin" which addressed the problem. For a short time the brakes were ok, but now (at 11000 miles) are squeaking again. I am trying to determine if there are others with the same problem or if there is in fact a recall/bulletin before I go back to the dealer and/or Mitsubishi motors.
Since purchase of 2002 Mitsubishi Galant have had numerous problems with squeaking brakes, rotors replaced twice since purchased 7/05. Was told by dealer that squeaking was from driving habits; nothing wrong with brakes. Had to take vehicle to private mechanic. Also, problems with air conditioning. Hot air blows out bottom vents by floor. Air doesn't get cold either. Have had vehicle air conditioner charged both last spring and also this spring. Within 2 weeks air only gets semi-cool and floor vents blow really hot air at all times. This vehicle is a disgrace. More trouble than enjoyment. Only good thing is appearance and style. Mitsubishi has had numerous complaints about both the brakes and air conditioning on their 2002 Galantes. Poor quality automobile.

Problems with the brakes on 2006 Mitsubishi Galant. The brakes were squeaking so I took it into the shop. They said they replaced the brakes pads this was at 16945 miles, again at 22380 miles, replace back brakes at 23403 now the brakes are gone again at 28552. They told me that it was just brake dust and no problem with the brakes but in less then 3 weeks the brakes are down metal to metal.
I recently purchased a used 2002 Galant. 2 days after purchase the brakes started squealing. Brake pads were replaced and 3 weeks later they started squealing again.
I purchased my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant on February 2002. I have had brake problems from the 1st week I purchased it. I took the vehicle to the dealership a total of 4 times and also called numerous times that year. Every year from then, I have had brake pads put on maybe 3 times per year. Every other month, it seems as though something is going wrong with my brakes. Just last year, I had brake pads put on and also had to replace the rotors. Just today, I heard my brakes scrubbing and whistling when I'm driving. Something is definetly wrong with this vehicle.
I bought the car used in 2002. Since I have had the car my brakes keep making this cracking noises. Ive replaced them since ive had the car about 7 times including replacing my rotors and getting them turned, yet the problem still exsist. I have even bought the most expessive and suppose to be the best brake pads . You can buy for a mittsubishi Galant. They are fine for the first few weeks after I replace them but they go back to the same way after a few weeks. Also my passenger side front seat belt keeps getting stuck. I have tried to fix it numerous times but it wont stop getting stuck. Can you please help me.

Rear brakes make a squealing/grinding noise when braking. The dealership inspected twice. The first time they said it was built up brake dust, the sound continued after I picked it up from the dealership. Took it back and said there was nothing they could do, and they seemed to be working properly, and the only way to remedy it was to replace the pads, which is not covered by warranty.
I have a 2003 Galant that I purchased used at 16000 miles. I have had it for only 6 months and have put 5000 miles on it. Right after I bought it the brakes started squealing pulsing. I took it into the dealership who said there was nothing wrong with the brakes. They continued to get worse so I had them inspect them at the dealership again with my 2nd oil change. They said I needed all new brakes. How could I need all new brakes in less than 3000 miles? there is something wrong here. I won't pay them the 300. 00 they want for this. I will take it somewhere else and have it done cheaper, but I don't think I should be out any money at all for what seems to be a defect.

The rear brakes on the back wheel made a dragging noise. This occurs either when the brakes were applied or just normal driving. The brakes were replaced but the noise returned after several thousand miles. The brake calipers also caused problems forming residue on and around the caliper seal. Please provide details.

We brought our car in 4/2002. Have had problems with brakes. We are currently on our third set of pads and our second set of rotors. Squeeking has been a problem along with grinding and for some reason when the brakes are depressed the steering wheel shakes. We had a mechanic look at the brakes during the last pad change and he noticed that there was a tear in the calliper system. I just thought I was the only one that was having these problems until I check it out.

Three months after I bought my Mitsubishi Galant I heard a loud screaching noise it souned like metal grinding against metal, and I had to apply the brakes harder than usual for the car to stop. So I took it to the dealer and they had to replace the front rotors and brake pads. Another three months passed and I experienced the same problem, it started to become a trend, almost every 3,000 miles I had to replace my rotors and brake pads. This car is a death trap evertime I drive this car. I wonder if this is the day my brakes will fail completly. The scariest moment I had driving this car and I thought the car wouldn't stop was on March 3 1997. I was coming from the dealer after getting my brakes fixed traveling down roosevelt blvd, and when I was approaching a stop light and I drew my brakes I smelled smoke and noticed it come from my front tires and I also relized it was taken my car awhile to come to a complete stop I has to push the brakes a the way to the floor for the car to stop. I was frightened I thought the car was going to go right through the red light. I traveled the rest of the way home going about 35 mph instead of 50 mph and even at the slower speed, it was still difficult to stop. When I finally got home I called the dealer to come tow the car back. This is the unsafest car I ever drove I wouldn't recommend this car to my worst enemy. Everyone in my family is scared to drive and to get in the car, I'm very cautious about having a child riding in this car, because I don't want to jeopardize a child's life. I've had four cars all for over 5yrs and only had to replace the brakes once no car, especially a new car should have their brakes replaced eleven times to put is nicely that's just ridiculos. I've complained many time to the manufacture and they have ignored my complaints. This is a car that needs to be recalled a. S. A. P before someone dies, and what it will probably take for them to recall this piece of junk.

Intermittently when brakes are applied vehicle pulls. Dealer has repaired and replaced pads and rotors several times.
Front rotors were getting red hot and cracking the brake pads, even though the pads were not worn down. This caused poor brake performance. Consumer was taking vehicle back to dealer about every 2 months to get pads replaced.
Brakes replaced x 2 and pads x1 and brakes also machined once w. Less than 30,000 miles on the car.
Front brake pads wore down prematurely causing them to fade upon braking. Nlm.
Brake pads failed.
Consumer noticed after depressing the brakes a grinding noise coming from front and rear of vehicle. Technician replaced rotors and pads.
As long as I have owned this vehicle, I have had a problem with the whole car shaking when I step on the brakes. I took it back to my dealer in oct 1999 and they turned the rotars but the problem continued. I just recently had to have it in because the battery failed and had them check out the brakes while I was there and they said I need a complete brake job. I ask the service manager to check to see if they had been done before and he found they had. He said he would turn the rotars again but I was responsible for the brake pads. The brakes were really tight when I got the car back last week, but now they seem to be getting back where they were. This car is only two years old and already had to have the battery replaced and the brakes. I feel the dealer should have changed the brake pads at no cost to me. After reading all the complaints about these cars the majority are about the brakes.
