I feel there is a dangerous defect in anti-skid brakes. I have contacted Mitsubishi and feel their response is inadequate. Anti-skid function failed during two emergency stops and almost resulted in rear-end collisions. Anti-skid function also actuates when there is no braking condition that warrants it to activate.

At just after 48,000 miles on the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES v6, the abs and traction control lights came on and stayed on while operating the vehicle. The brakes, which had recently been replaced, made loud echoing crunch noises. Braking distance increased. The brakes had almost always been wobbly, even with newly machined rotors. Also, front and side air bags did not deploy when vehicle rear-ended a tahoe on a different occasion.
2001 Mitsubishi Galant LS v6 with 30,000 miles. Has been in shop over 5 times. Has been towed into shop once for not starting due to fuel injection problems. Was diagnosed with defective side and passenger airbags, anti lock braking system. Has serious steering vibration when driving. Dealer told us it was only the tires and they overinflated my tires to solve the problem. Problem has continued and has been occurring since vehicle had 15,000 miles and tires were properly rotated and balanced. Concerned that vehicle poses serious safety hazards.
I have had nothing but problems with my sun roof, brakes, gas, acceleration and over heating of my car. My sun roof about every other month something goes wrong with it every time I open it. My breaks have been replaced about 4 or 5 times because the wear out quick. When I break my tiers skip the car stops but the tiers keep turning. My gas is gone quick and I only drive here in town from work to home to daycare. Sometimes when I turn my car on the speedometer moves by its self as if I were pushing the gas peddle and my foots on the break when it does it by its self and it does it when I'm driving. I can drive a block and my car gets really hot and the fan is on right away. I can't stand my care anymore its nothing but problems for a while.

Vehicle been experiencing on-going problem with brake pedal feeling spongy and vehicle vibrating when brake pedal is applied. Also, causing intermittent delay in stopping distance. This condition almost caused several vehicle accidents. Vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on three occasions, and had rotors replaced, problems still occurring.
Problems with the vehicle started two days after purchase, they rotated the rotors on the brakes. Since that time I have had the vehicle back seven different occasions. They have replaced the rotors, rotated, you name it and it is still not corrected. I have a three year old daughter that I am scared to death to ride in the car. The dealer has been unresponsive and extremely nasty to us. The owner of the dealer hung up on my wife yesterday. The service manager screamed at me today, and said we have done all we can. They won't return phone calls. I have contacted corporate Mitsubishi and they say they will work on the problem. I just completed the paper work for the lemon laws in maryland. I need help with making sure no one else buys a lemon from the dealer, and they don't stand behind their cars. Please assist me, in anyway you can. Thank you in advance for your time.

Upon breaking from both low and highway speeds, tremendous vibration in the steering column and brake pedal. Have had brakes checked by 3 different dealers on numerous occassions, the last time requiring replacement of the rotors and prblem still exists/returned. Also, while driving at slow speed (less than 15 miles/hours) the transmission failed without any indication requiring a total replacement just barely past mfg warranty exppired.
Brakes started annoying squealing at @24,500 miles. When taken to dealer to inspect, asked to look at problem. Service manager said there was nothing wrong. Now, with 29,512 miles, problem syill exists. When scheduling 30,000 mile maintenance, asked service manager if there was any problems similar to mine. Manager told me that Mitsubishi was looking into it. This is not only a potential major safety problem, but an extreme annoyance for the owner. Your investigation into this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!.
