On 8/31/2018, I took my 2014 Nissan Altima into the fred hass Nissan svc, dept. For an oil change, in tomball TX and while there, reported that the supplemental air bag warning light was remaining on after 7 seconds and remained on all the while the vehicle was being driven. The service advisor stated that code found was cleared and no repair was recommended. On 9/5/2018, I spoke with (xxxx), svc, mgr. At fred Nissan and informed him that the supplemental air bag warning light was on again. Mr. (xxxx) made a 7am appointment for me to bring my vehicle to the svc. Dept. , on 9/6/2018 for further diagnosis and he would contact Nissan for recommendations. Later on, mr. (xxxx) informed me that he had spoken with someone at Nissan and was told that Nissan would not cover the cost of any current or future repairs to the supplemental air system, even though it was a safety issue. Unfortunately, the gold extended warranty I purchased does not cover malfunctions of supplemental air bag system or any of its components. The supplemental air bag warning light continues to come on upon a cold and warm start and remains on while the vehicle is being driven.

The supplemental air bag warning light came on multiple times and I have taken it to three Nissan dealerships and they have not been able to fix the issue. The car has never been in an accident neither the airbags have ever deployed. Every time I go to a Nissan dealership they claim a connector was loose or that the circuit was open. Every time I take the car out of the dealership the light is off, but after a day or so the light comes on again. It seems to me that is unacceptable that such a critical system as the airbag is, would not work properly, and that Nissan would not know how to fix it. They keep trying to change different parts on the airbag system to try to get it fixed, but it seems to me that they don't know what to do and are just trying to see what fixes the issue. It also seems that Nissan didn't do a good job with the airbag system since there's already been recalls on something similar for this car.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the manufacturer fixed the another portion of the vehicle instead of replacing the air bag. The passenger seat computer was updated instead of recieving a new air bag. No warning light illuminated and the vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was serviced improperly at sheehy Nissan of glen burnie (410) 754-1777 7232 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, MD 21061. The contact stated that the mechanic at this dealer serviced the passenger seat sensor and was not aware that a new air bag had to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnossed and the manufacturer was not informed. The failure mileage was 57,000. Jw.
Airbag warning light indicates faulty electronics. Began about 50,000 miles. This is not due to misuse. It's companion to earlier recall for a faulty airbag, which was corrected. Reported to dealer. Cost estimate to repair from $800 to $5,000 depending the level of defect. Owner believes this should be Nissan's responsibility, as it's not due to negligence.

The airbag warning light illuminated on my dashboard, and when I took it to the dealer, I was told that the OCS system for the passenger seat had failed, and I would need to pay $2500 to replace the cushion seat. This issue appears to be related to an airbag recall involving 2013-2016 Altima, as well as other Nissan vehicles the passenger air bag is disable due to a sensor malfuntion that is very dangwrkus if you are involved in an accident.
Air bag warning light constantly on after two resets due to recall. Dealer says it is not due to the recall but that is bs.
2015 Nissan Altima. Consumer writes in regards to continuing problem with airbag warning light. The consumer stated after the airbag was repaired, the passenger seat airbag warning light illuminated.
The passenger side airbag on/off warning light (yellow) on the center of the dash lights up intermittently. This occurs even if someone is sitting in the passenger seat at the time indicating that the airbag is turned off.
Takata recall. Warning lights for passenger airbag come on intermittently whether passenger is in vehicle, or not. Have had the vehicle in to the dealer to resolve the problem, but it has not been resolved yet. This happens when idling and in motion and still currently happening.
My 2008 Altima sedan had about 50,000 miles on it when in December 2017 I experienced an air bag warning light that flashed on the instrument cluster along with a warning light on the dash that indicated the passenger air bag was off. These warnings appeared no matter if the passenger seat was empty or if an adult passenger occupied it. This happened anytime the car was running (stopped or moving at any speed). I went online and found out that my VIN was not covered by any active recalls. Further research showed that Nissan vehicles had many problems with passenger air bag warnings related to sensors and occupant classification systems for a broad range of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles for several model years since 2007. There was one NHTSA recall (#08v-521) related to this issue that covered my model and year, but this applied to only a small group of Nissan vehicles manufactured in 2007-2009 that exhibited a specific diagnostic trouble code. My vehicle was manufactured one month after the last month included in this recall, but the passenger seat air bag sensor was manufactured during the last month of production included in the recall. The problems with the passenger air bag warnings go beyond the original recall. This is a significant safety issue that I believe warrants expansion of the above recall or a new recall. I don't believe Nissan is living up to its safety responsibilities. I have completed significant research into this issue (see attachment) that should convince NHTSA of the need for further investigation into this defect. I have invested a significant amount of time in researching this issue and creating the attached report. I would appreciate a response from NHTSA stating if they intend to pursue Nissan to issue additional recalls, or not.

Takata recall, dashboard warning light illuminates, diagnostc port does not show any code for this problem. Had taken to dealer recall a r105 ntb14-02. And still a problem with seatbag illuminating. Had it reprogram and came back on again after one day driving the vehicle.
Takata recall, my driver side airbag warning light is showing on from last 15 days when I just started driving. Plus my shift lock sensor is not working. I put the gear on park on a gass station but when I tried to start it wont let me change the gear unless I opened the shift lock cap and tuck something in and try to change the gear to drive the car. Since then I have ti tuck something to change the gear from parking to anything else.
Passenger seat air bag warning light stays lit when a adult is sitting in seat. There is a recall for something similar, but we were told our car is not under that recall. My worry is if we have a accident will that front air bag deploy.
Takata recall the airbag warning light of my 2013 Nissan Altima has been on for almost two years. I have been gone to Nissan dealership two times, after their maintenance, every time the airbag light goes out for a few days, then it lights up again. The airbag must be failed, but the Nissan dealer did not replace it.
Hello, my 2013 Nissan Altima has a safety issue with the airbag. Since August 2017, the car's airbag alarm light is on。 after this happened, I went to gainesville Nissan two times, but the problem is not been solved. The first time was on 9/1/2017. They (gainesville Nissan) charged me $34. 78 and told me the problem was the airbag sensor, the warning light was removed at that time. But after about two months the airbag light was on the dashboard again. So I went to gainesville Nissan the second time, on 3/5/2018. This time they charged $49. 95 and still said it was a problem with the airbag sensor. Unfortunately, the airbag alarm light show on the dashboard one more time after about one month until now. After these two repairs, I have reason to believe that my 2013 Nissan Altima airbag has quality problems, and gainesville Nissan is very irresponsible. And Nissan is recalling cars on a large scale because of airbag problems, I hope my problems can be solved, thanks.

2013 Nissan Altima s - safety system defect / malfunction problem:2 aspects (1)the OCS airbag and seatbelt system warning light "incorrectly indicates" a passenger is not in the seat when in fact the seat is occupied! this condition "turns off the air bag protection for an adult passenger!" (2)the seatbelt light incorrectly indicates that a passenger is unbelted. Erroneous test results: Nissan tests this safety system on equipment programmed by Nissan via a humanly devised algorithm. In other words, since the test equipment is programmed incorrectly, the results will be wrong. Proof: Nissan has recalled to reprogram my vehicle 4 times (I think) a new test algorithm. Additionally, Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there could be a faulty components of this safety system. If the test fails to show a system fault. Nissan ignores the problem. Nissan refuses to replace components of this faulty system. 2013 2017ocs system malfunction continues after multiple reprogrammings by Nissan. Nissan has never fixed this faulty system. Nissan needs to replace this safety system immediately!.
The amber passenger airbag disabled light stays on with the red airbag system warning light flashing continuously flashing. All of the recall notices I have read don't include my car but the criteria seem to fit the recall notices.

I just had a recall performed on my car for the passenger air bag sensor. Now, the air bag warning light stays on all the time when the front passenger seat is empty. This creates a dangerous situation while driving at night because it interferes with peripheral vision because the light is so bright. I complained to my dealer, but they say there is no fix for it. So what do I do, not drive my car at night ? they told me that the recall was ordered by the NHTSA.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. After the vehicle was started, the passenger side air bag off warning light illuminated while the seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags); however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on several different occasions where the OCS sensor was replaced and reprogrammed. In addition, other unknown repairs were performed, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,092.
There was recall on this vehicle NHTSA recall 16v-244. It was about the OCS. Vehicle was taken to crest Nissan of frisco 6600 state hwy 121, frisco, TX 75034 on 14 June 2016. According to the invoice given to me by the dealer the OCS unit was reprogrammed. On 9 Aug 16 I took the vehicle back to the same dealer because the supplemental air bag warning light remains on continuously. But the customer service agent at crest Nissan of frisco told me that there is nothing wrong with it, this light is supposed to stay on unless the passenger seat is occupied by an adult . Owner's manual on page 1-57 clearly mentions that " if the supplemental air bag warning light remains on after approximately 7 seconds, under this condition, the front air bag, side air bag and curtain air bag or pretensioner systems may not operate properly". The dealer has not only failed to rectify the problem but also lied to me about this technical and a potentially hazardous problem. It could mean that the front air bag, side air bag, curtain air bag and/or pretensioner systems will not operate in an accident.
After the 2016 recall, to correct the faulty passenger air bag off condition, when a passenger not meeting the minimum airbag deployment requirements is seated the the passenger seat, the drivers "air bag off" warning indicator is now always illuminated when the passenger's seat is unoccupied. This condition leads to incorrect operation of the warning indicator which now displays this warning during a normal operating condition of the vehicle. Under normal operating conditions when there is no passenger in the vehicle, the constant illumination of the warning light will over time be ignored because of its constant on condition. The operation of the this indicator makes about as much sense as having the "seat belt unfastened" warning light always illuminated for an unfastened seat belt for an unoccupied passenger seat. . The inappropriate and misleading operation of warning indication leads to the operator's disregard of the warning indicator's significance. Over time, the driver will accept the on condition of this warning light as a normal operating indication and may lead the driver not recognizing the significance if this warning light remaining "on" in the event that a front seat passenger, meeting the air bag deployment criteria, occupies the seat. The operation of this warning light must be returned to its per-recall operation of only illuminating when the passenger seat is occupied by a passenger not meeting the criteria for air bag deployment. Any other operation of this warning light yields erroneous misleading passenger safety information to the operator of the vehicle. This safety condition must be corrected.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an unknown air bag recall repair. Shortly after the repair, the air bag warning light remained illuminated whether or not the passenger seat was occupied. The dealer reset the code three times, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no repair solution. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
The passenger side airbag warning light is flashing and showing as turned off even when the seat is occupied. I searched for recalls dealing with this safety issued and find recalls for this issue on the 2007 to 2008 Altima (recall 08v521000) and a new recall is just read about on the 2013 to 2016 Altima, but none on my year. I opened a case (#23576396) and took it to my Nissan dealer as instructed by the person I spoke with at the corporate number to have the issue analized. The service manager at the dealer told me the sensor in the passenger seat is defective and the fix is to replace the seat at a cost of $550. 00 plus labor. I told him I would talk to the corporate contact and was charged $121. 50 for diagnosis when I pick my car up. I spoke to allise at corp. And explained what the service manager had told me and was told that Nissan's position is this is my responsibility to pay for. I told her I will file a complaint with the NHTSA as this is a safety issue which renders the front passenger side as unusable in this condition. This condition started approximately 3 months ago.
