37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/20/2021

Symptoms began as random hard shifts, then progressed to a sudden loss of power and high rpms. If the vehicle was turned off and on, the transmission would engage and you could drive a couple hundred feet before it began slipping again. I used this tactic of turning it off and on again to get the vehicle off of the highway. Vehicle has not been sent to shop as of yet. Taking a turn, my Nissan Frontier 2007 suddenly stops right in the middle of the street causing traffic jam, I was lucky enough not to be t-boned with my kids seating on the back. Nissan knew about is but never advised costumers about it to open a recall campaign. Need help with this. Truck was bought brand new at the dealer.

I called the nhtsaand reported this according to the October 28th 2010nhtsa campaign number 10v517000 engine control model. It was recalled and supposedly repaired. The person I talked to kathyrn said that it had been recalled and fixed so it was no longer a recall problem. This vechile is a safety recall and still is, it should be fixed, it was evidently not fixed before.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/20/2021

This vehicle suddenly starts to accelerate on its own like it's in cruise control only it's not and I'm not pressing the gas pedal. It would go well only a 100 if I let it and applying the brakes does nothing. The only way of stopping the vehicle is to put it in neutral and one time that didn't stop it and I had to put it in park and turn off the key. I've taken the vehicle to 3 different garages and they are not able to figure out what the issue is. I've contacted Nissan and they have no recalls of this. I finally looked online and saw that other people have been in accidents because of the same problem. This vehicle is deadly to drive and I'm a professional driver so luckily I knew what to do when this happens. I am not able to drive truck safely and I'm not able to sell it or even give this to anyon because I would be responsible when they kill someone from the mechanical failures. I bought the truck for my teenage son and obviously he can't drive it.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2012 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/16/2019

My truck has had what feels to me like a rough idle for about as long as I've had it. It was fine for several years but a couple of months ago the truck died at a stop light. It started right back up and I didn't think I'd be able to replicate this for a mechanic so I just kept driving it. It also died once on my wife but she didn't tell me about it at the time. A couple of weeks ago I was driving on the highway at lower speeds due to traffic. It died on me again and this time it wouldn't start. I had to have it towed to a Nissan dealer. They repaired a part in the transmission and gave it back to me. It seemed ok but after about ten miles it died again. I brought it back and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They cleaned the throttle body and gave it back to me. It is still idling rough. It hasn't died again yet but I'm afraid of what might happen if it does. I've looked online and this is a common problem with these trucks. I think it has some defect that needs to be addressed through a recall for the safety of drivers on the road.

53 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Vehicle will not change gears and is sluggish. The display on the speedometer does not show the position of the transmission. I have spent over 600 dollars to find out that the transmission control module is bad and that there was a recall to fix coolent leaking into the transmission fluid. My vehicle is still broken because of the part cost 1100 usd and the repair. Total bill is 1600 usd. This was a known problem and should be fixed without me paying a dime. My vehicle was in motion. Now it won't even get up to speed the transmission sounds as if it is stuck in a gear. Very erratic. When the throttle pedal is pressed the engine does not react immediately. Very difficult to pull out into traffic. Very dangerous pulling out into traffic. I have been to the selling dealer 2 times for this, they cannot "duplicate" the issue.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

While driving on a county highway, the engine caught fire for no apparent reason resulting in the total loss of the vehicle. Engine compartment was completely destroyed. About 2100 miles on odometer, speed at time of fire was about 30 mph. I had been driving about 5 minutes, just long enough for the engine to warm up. I checked the oil about 1 week prior to the fire and reading was normal. No problems starting the vehicle and it was running normally until the flames erupted from under the hood. No injuries or other property damage.

I went to my dealer and change the spark plug, change the valve gasket cover, and do oil change because the service engine went on. I did finished the service, my service advisor called my phone and he said that my truck is ready for pick up. I arrived, went to the cashier I paid $748 for the service, got my truck. Then I drove after a munite the shaking issue is still thier so I called my advisor, he advised me to bring back and do diagnos test for $150. After the diagnose test they said they found missing accelaration and need to replace 4 ignition coil for $1114. 00 parts/labor. Unfortunately I paid $749 for the recent repair, so, because I spent a lot of money for the first repair, he only want me do 2 ignition coil replaced for $775 parts/labor.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/04/2016

Nissan timing chain needs replaced, Nissan has not published TSB's about the issue. Costs are 4000 by Nissan. Bought truck used. If Nissan has not published any tsbs, why should a consumer have to shell out thousands of dollars to fix the issue.

70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2008 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

My Nissan dealer told me today that the timing chain on the 4. 0l v6 engine in my truck requires replacement. This truck has less than 60,000 miles on it and the dealer charges $2,140 for the work. Timing chains are normally expected to last for the life of the vehicle. Failure of the timing chain would destroy the engine and, if it occurred while the vehicle was in motion, could result in a crash. Nissan has known about a defective timing chain problem on this and related engines since at least 2004, yet they continued to use those defective timing chains until approximately 2010. Nissan should issue a recall and replace the chains under warranty.
