Excessive rust on oil pan bolts with rust spreading from bolts to oil pan. Excessive corrosion (white, powdery looking coating) on undercarriage bolts. Unexpected rust on hose clamp attaching filler tube to gas tank. 2007 Nissan Frontier, crew cab style, 4x4, se model. This vehicle was purchased new in virginia and driven in virginia. Contacted dealer with photos of the rust and they inspected and claimed to have forwarded information to regional service director. After no action, called 1-800-nissan1 and they directed me to return to the dealer and assigned a case number. Dealer supposedly documented the rust and again submitted to regional service director (9/6/2010) - but I have not received a promised followup phone call. Two additional calls to 1-800-nissan1 (directed to phone box when I provided the case number) have not been returned.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Frontier. When the contact attempts to start his vehicle after it has been parked for a while, it begins to smoke. He stated that this is a brand new vehicle and the failure has been occurring since it was purchased. The dealer and the manufacturer stated that this was just the nature of the vehicle and failed to mention if it was due to a manufacturer defect or design flaw. The failure mileage was 2 and current mileage was 3,000.
2002 Nissan Frontier. Electrical component; alternator/generator/regulator. Experiencing exact same problem as described in the NHTSA campaign id #05v319000. 1) normal operation leading to failure. 2) consequence; battery and brake warning lamps come on and battery begins to discharge. Engine goes into fail safe mode, engine will stop and could result in crash. 3) dealer will not correct the problem without payment because the Frontier does not have this particular recall and the dealer states the vehicle has exceeded the 3yr warranty limit even though the vehicle was purchased new 26 months ago.

Oil filter and oil change done at home. Purchased a bosch oil filter from autozone in ponchatuola, la. The dealer is saying the filter caused the engine damage, therefore it is not covered under the warranty. Autozone wants the filter back for inspection but has not involved bosch. If I let the filter go through the mail to autozone and they loose it I am without any evidence to justify any claim. I still feel my vehicle should be repaired by the dealer under warranty. I even purchased an extended warranty on this vehicle. The autozone insurance person I spoke with states the engine had to have too much pressure to cause the oil filter failure if it actually did fail. I'm left without a vehicle, a very large note, and too much stress to count.
