36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/16/2018

Dear Nissan service: I am the owner of a 2006 Nissan Frontier se with approximately 124,000 miles. The vehicle was purchased used from nalley Nissan in 2012 with approximately 89,000 miles on it. The history of the vehicle was meticulous, minus that the catalytic converter had been replaced by nalley Nissan. In February 04, 2016 I had the left catalytic converter replaced at nalley Nissan. The right catalytic converter was replaced prior to purchasing the vehicle. My vehicle has already had both catalytic converters replaced. On may 11, 2018 I was advised that I need both of my catalytic converters replaced again at stone mountain Nissan. My check engine light had came on agaiinhowever, both of the catalytic converters have been previously replaced. It should be noted that this in not an inexpensive repair. I only used premium gasoline in my vehicle to ensure its proper performance and get my vehicle regularly maintained an Nissan dealerships. It is rather obvious that there is something else going on with my vehicle that is defective in nature. I had read that this is a common problems with Nissan Frontiers and Nissan altimas. I do not want to get the catalytic converts replaced at at estimated $2200 and have this problem resurface again. In georgia, we have annual emissions tests and my vehicle will not pass an emissions test. Just recently, I had taken my vehicle on a short trip to north georgia. The engine stalled and completely lost power. I was able to get the vehicle home however, it is rather evident that something is mechnically wrong with my vehicle and just simply replacing the catalytic converters will not ensure that this problem will happen again. Is there any guidance that you can offer? regards gordon meredith jr. 4105 rue dartagnan stone mountain GA 30083 404. 992. 6013.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/16/2018

Nissan Frontiers of are experencing many problems with their emission systems. Evap control values are failing at various mileages. The dealers blame dust in the system. The dealers are charging very high prices to repair the system. Nissan has already changed the evap control vent switch design 3 times. This means they know they have a problem and are refusing to recall the trucks.

Radiator leaked into transmission cooler and destroyed transmission. Rebuild of transmission and radiator replacement cost of over 5000 vehicle stalled in middle of intersection.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/22/2017

Air bag light comes on when driving on a dirt road. Fuel related, but not sure, engine light is on it might be evaporative emission system vent circuit shorted. Left wheel passenger side rotor cover keeps twisting and rubs against the wheel and makes noise.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

Nissan recognized leak in radiator, leading to corrosion in transmission resulting in clunking shifting with automatic transmission, until transmission cannot shift by itself. Secret warranty bulletin put out but only to Nissan service centres and not shared with vehicles owners until to late for most. If they recalled or fixed the radiator, would not now need a new transmission repair for ~$7000. Truck will no longer go up hills unless one shifts as if it were manual.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/10/2017

Takata inflators: understanding that it is a supercharger and it will not get the fuel mileage as a four-cylinder vehicle I should not be going through this much gas and I do not have my foot in it all the time also my front driver seat is about to dismantle from the floor there is a lot of electrical issues which I'm not sure if that is what is causing sensor problems the check engine light is now on again. I have had over $3000 of my own money put into this truck along with another used motor and supercharger put in right after purchasing this truck used I would not have preferred them buying used I wanted remanufactured but it was not my choice they said. The bed of the truck is also riding out the brake system I also have to redo again which I should not have any issues. And for a supercharger it should have a lot more power than it does. I have documentation to prove that I have spent so far receipts and I do not even like taking the highway at times because I just don't feel like it safe enough to be honest with you and I should not feel that way when I just purchased this truck not even a year ago. This is the first used truck I have ever purchased where I have had so many issues with it I don't know whether not to blame myself to use dealership or the truck itself I fell in love with the truck at first sight but I will never do that again. When it rains and I'm on the highway I will lose power almost to the point where I think the engine and the engine well almost shut off I will have to get off the highway shut the truck down let it sit for about a minute or two turn it back on and then proceed if I still in losing power I will have to shut it off again and then wait until the truck is ready in order for it to have its power back I do not know what the problem is I'm not sure if too much rain is getting into the engine and I'm not sure why.

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/26/2016

Our 07 Nissan Frontier was being driven to be inspected for registration when, at a stop light, it just turned off and would not start. We had it towed to a mechanic. He had to send it to the local Nissan dealership for the computer to be replaced and reprogrammed. According to this mechanic, the leak from the radiator has mixed with transmission fluid in the transmission causing all these components to fail and need replacing. This is unacceptable!!.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/02/2016

Service engine light came on, had a Nissan dealership diagnose as a "fuel level sensor " is bad. That they stated it's not cover under any warranties, which this part has been recalled in the past. Nissan should extend the recalls to incorporate more vehicles with this problem. This is a huge safety issue.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

The throttle on the truck will fail to accelerate then will surge forward. Other times it is as if the truck engine is trying to quit running . Today I stopped by the dealership and they found no dcts on the computer, after test driving the truck 10 mi. No problems found. But this is an intermittent problem. After this test the truck did it again going home stall then surge forward ( could do it in fwd or rev) will continue to get dealer to test by leaving truck there a few days. Just wondering if any others out there. Some say these trucks have sensitive accelerators this is not sensitive. This always happens when the truck has been stopped like at a red light when starting to accelerate again but cannot be predicted and 80% of the time it won't happen. The accelerator or the throttle body I believe is the problem but again no dtcs were found????. (the dealership I believe will fix this they are very helpful but there may be more out there).

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

My truck has the promblem of campaign number 10vo75000 but Nissan said not cover by my VIN is this more wide spread in other modle truck?.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/13/2016

Vehicle shut off while driving on the highway. I was driving down the highway at 65 mph when the truck made a quick jerk and them completely shut off. I came very close to causing a highway pile up!! I had no power, no steering no nothing. Luckily I was able to get across 3 lanes safely. Cars were slamming on brakes and luckily I didnt kill myself or anyone else. Once I got the the side of the road I was able to get the truck going and safely get to an exit. I creeped home on a wing a prayer and now the truck is sitting in my driveway. I dont dare to use it and I need it. I am scared to drive it, ithas given me anxiety, it was horrific. My truck has 94220 miles on it.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/25/2016

The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while parked, there was a fuel odor coming from the vehicle. In addition, there was fuel leaking from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic that the there was corrosion and the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 04v230000 (fuel system). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/15/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the fuel level sensor failed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, when the vehicle was filled with fuel, the fuel sensor gauge remained on empty. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel sensor, o ring, and clip needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

Fuel level gauge failed at approximately 76k miles. Received code po 461 indicating sensor failure. Currently using odometer to keep from running out of gas while driving. Noted recall 10v075000 apparently covers this exact problem but 2007 model year not included. Service bulletin ntb-07-069c also notes issue of defective oem part used by Nissan in manufacture of vehicle, but only recourse is to replace at owner's expense. Note over 150 separate complaints under various categories for this identical problem. Seems like a valid safety issue requiring a voluntary recall by Nissan for affected vehicles or a mandatory recall by NHTSA.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/16/2015

The fuel level sensor has failed causing a safety issue. The 2006 and the 2008 model years have been recalled for this same issue but not the 2007 model.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

The frame on these vehicles are unsafe due to persistent corrosion which also carries throughout other parts under the vehicle like their steering. In my case, the rust is settling in and causing the frame to deteriorate despite it only have 69k miles. The concern is obviously having the vehicle crumble during use. Here are just a few other complaints listed on the internet by other owners. . Read more...

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

The transmission on my truck suddenly went out with no warning during my morning commute in heavy traffic on the 202 loop in phoenix. Shifting to a different gear had the same effect as stepping on the gas, which was that the engine revved with no increase or decrease in speed. I had to coast across 4 lanes of fast moving traffic. It was an incredibly dangerous situation. I am told by the Nissan dealership that transmission fluid mixed with coolant and that it was a catastrophic failure. I have received no notices of any kind from Nissan and was shocked to learn that this is a known, commonly occurring defect and that the defect manifests instantaneously and without warning most of the time. Nissan should be held accountable for the defective system and for not notifying me that I should have the dealer fix it before they put my life and property and that of every person around me at risk. Updated 09/15/lj.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The gas gauge has stopped working. It will read empty (with light on) even immediately after a fill-up. Over the next few days, it gives erratic readings. I have to keep a written note on the mileage each time I fill up so that I don't accidently run out of gas.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/15/2015

While driving I noticed my "service engine soon" light on, so I called a local Nissan dealer in our place and have a change oil service. The tech advisor informed me that my fuel sensing unit is malfunctioning and asked me if I wanted to have and quoted me a price of over $400. 00. I said no because I cannot afford that amount. I research and found out that there was a recall for this type problem however it expired already. I called corporate Nissan and requested if they can fix the problem. They called me today (5/29/2015) and told me they cannot extend the recall. I think this recall should be extended by Nissan. Please investigate because there are a lot of other 2006 Nissan Frontier having the same problem as of this time (based on the several Nissan forums I read on the internet.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/14/2015

White smoke coming out of the tail pipe.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

When I first bought my vehicle I seen nothing pretty much wrong with it. After a week of driving with it I start noticing problem with the tires, not a big deal. I fixed that, then I notice that my vehicle starts acting up in changing gears, as well as heating up. So I check the radiator, that I notice transmission fluid inside the radiator. So I called the Nissan dealership after hearing a recall, due to this issue. They tell me that I would need $3500. 00 as a deposit, before they do anything because it is possibility that not only the radiator needs to be changed, but that they would have to change the transmission also if they see it needs to be changed. All this in less than a month. So I change the radiator myself. Now a month later the transmission is acting up on me. So I ask what good is a recall if I have to pay to get it fixed. What good is buying a vehicle if the manufactures and dealership take no responsibility in what they build or sale. I never try to do this to any customer in wherever I work, either the cable or phone company, so what make Nissan special in doing this to their customers. In less that 2 month after I get my truck from the dealership, I have to fix my tires, put a new radiator, and now a transmission. What use is having a government or a federal system, when the customer is not being heard, and the people with the money can lie to the customer and our system does nothing, but allow all this to happen.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/26/2015

Was coming to a stop at a traffic light in s. C. , when all of a sudden the motor started to race. I immediately turned the motor off. Turned it back on, and had no more problems. This was very frightening. Patrick kirby.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/16/2015

Driving along at 65 miles per hour seemed like transmission went into neutral and engine revved up. Rolled to side of road. Truck would no longer move. Had truck towed to garage where they informed me that the transmission had coolant in it and had wiped it out. To replace trans and radiator was 5300 dollars.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 01/20/2015

My service engine light remains on. My gas guage will fluctuate from empty even tho it is full to half full when it is empty I saw a recall for this problem for the 2006 and 2008 models but not for my 2007. I checked to see if there were any recalls for my truck and there were not. Please help.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Air bag light came on wont go off, gas gauge stoped working, front end suspension has recall, took it to Nissan dealer wont fix said my VIN is not on recall list. Was told air bag would not work if I was in an accident, faulty spiral cable.

63 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Having the same issue that other Frontiers were recalled for. Gas gauge is unreliable and the engine light stays on. Other Frontiers manufactured just three months before ours are on recall but not ours. This is obviously a Nissan issue as well documented on various boards and websites.

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

My gas gauge dropped to 1/4 then went to empty with light on now it won't move at all.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

Fuel level sensor malfunction, truck shut off while showing it was half full of gas. I was in the process of moving so I had a truck load of furniture and also pulling my boat. I luckily carry a heavy duty chain with me and was able to get someone to tow me to a gas station. I then read that Nissan had recalled 2005-2008 models but when I called my particular truck wasn't one of them. It doesn't really make sense to me if my truck is showing the same problems why it isn't recalled. This didn't cause that big of an issue for me but I feel like this is a serious problem and could put someone in danger of having an accident. The seal around where the sensor connects doesn't hold so gas gets in and corrodes the connecting pins causing it to malfunction. They wanted to charge me $400 to fix it so I bought the part online for $85 and fixed it myself. I don't feel like this is right and Nissan needs to be held accountable.

66 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the fuel level gauge failed to show the correct fuel level readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

67 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/24/2014

My "service engine soon" light came on. A code read said it was my fuel sending unit. There was a recall for the issue but Nissan customer support said my VIN was not covered. They did not explain why but upon my follow up, they said they would investigate if they could help/assist with the repair costs. They required the code read from the dealer (which I did and they confirmed it was the fuel sending unit). They call me back a week later and told me that they would not pay, although the representative admitted it was the defect from the recall campaign, but this time, she said it was because the recall warranty had expired. Since I was never part of the recall notice, there was no way for me to know when the campaign was in effect, plus - they did not include my VIN number. This same problem has happened to many, many people and it seems Nissan has scammed nhsta and the recall system to minimize the amount of repairs they have had to make (e. G. They volunteer to perform the recall, then artificially limit the number of VIN numbers included), and put a time limit on the recall by calling it a warranty extension. When people like me experience the problem and follow up, they are prepared with a cascading number of ways to say "so sorry", but none of them own up to their original commitment to the public and the NHTSA to conduct and execute a full recall on this safety issue. Very slick, and very unethical. I am hoping that the NHTSA will conduct a full investigation, not just for me, but to eventually force Nissan to honor the recall on all vehicles that experience this problem - not just a few vins they named so they can save money.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

Fuel sending unit fuel light on and shows empty sometime when it is actually full.

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/25/2014

Service engine light came on. Fuel sensor reported. 2008 Nissan Frontier.

70 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

We bought this Nissan new in 2006 -great little truck. But recently the engine would stall and all the lights on the dash came on. Took it to our mechanic he said it was a tran code took it to the Nissan dealership and they said the coolant had gotten into the trans or vise versa (a lot to take in),so I needed a new transmission and radiator. I found this issue on your website for a recall but my vehicle was within the years of the recall but it has over 100,000 it has130 so the dealership said there was nothing they could do to help with the $5500 bill they just quoted me. Is there any help out there for me on this issue??? please.
