37 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2011

2006 Nissan Maxima. I notice the transmission was slipping when changing gears. It also was jerking repeatedly while changing into 1st and 2rd gear and then back down from 2nd to 1st. I was told by a Nissan service advisor that my car needed a transmission flush. I had the flush done on the car, problems still exist. Nissan now says I need a new transmission. $3500. There are thousand of people with this same problem. This transmission should be recalled, before someone get hurt and Nissan stop stealing people hard earned money. When they know something is wrong with the car.

38 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2011

2006 Nissan Maxima with 90k miles. Transmission slipping when going from neutral to drive, when slowing down and subsequently accelrating and occasionally without any rationale- simply pauses, then jerks into gear- often when in an intersection. It typically it happens when the engine is warmer than not. A transmission service and flush has been done by dealer- and they 'said' they could find nothing wrong. However, it continues.

40 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima. At 60,000 miles or so, the transmission started slipping between 1st and 2nd gear. Also hard shifts from reverse to neutral and neutral to first. I have maintained the transmission properly. It turns out there are hundreds of people on the internet complaining about the exact same issue. It is a manufacture defect which has not been recalled. Help.

41 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2011

I purchased my 06 Maxima when it had 52,000 miles. After a few weeks I noticed the shifting is not proper and sudden jerking when shifting in r or d. Eventually the jerking got worst and currently at nearly 72,000 miles it has gotten very scary. At times I feel like someone has rear ended the car. Last week, while making an exit from a highway the car suddenly accelerated and got out of control. I noticed that the transmission had slipped while I was going at around 50 mph. Since then I noticed the transmission is slipping constantly. I have been contacting dealers and they claim this is not a problem they know about regarding this model year. But as it seems, there are hundreds or perhaps thousands of posts all over the internet from people with the same exact problem in the same exact model Maxima. I will not allow my wife to drive the car anymore since I noticed last week that the slip could be very dangerous at high speeds. I sure hope a fatal accident would not be the cause to wake up Nissan to help resolve the issue.

45 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2010

I own a 2006 Nissan Maxima. I brought my car to the dealership because the car started shifting hard when going from first to second gear and 2nd to 3rd. It also has significant jerking when downshifting or trying to go to the next gear. The transmission slips as the engine rpm's rev as well. The dealership told me that my transmission fluid was a little dirty but they could not find anything wrong with my transmission. They did a transmission flush and it did not help at all. I brought the car back 3 weeks later because the service engine light came on. They now are saying I need a new transmission when just 3 weeks ago they said they couldn't find anything wrong. I said you how come you couldn't tell me that 3 weeks ago. Now my service engine light has gone off and I am still having the same issues. I cannot believe that there has not been a recall on the transmissions on this car. I went online to consumer affairs and there have been hundreds of customer complaints under consumer affairs. Why has there not been a recall? this is a safety hazard and someone is going to end up getting hurt. What is it going to take for the company to do a recall? I filed a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs. When they called me back they said that there is nothing they can do. They said it is up to NHTSA to issue a recall. I cannot believe that Nissan USA cannot to anything to help the customers. Please take a few minutes and sign on to consumer affairs and see how many customers have filed complaints regarding the transmissions in the 2006 Nissan Maximas. Every single one of them are having the same exact problem as I am. There is definitely something faulty with the transmissions. I own a 2006 Nissan Maxima. I brought my car to the dealership because the car started shifting hard when going from first to second gear and 2nd to 3rd. It also has significant jerking when downshifting or trying to go to the next gear. The transmission slips as the engine rpm's rev as well. The car is bucking when I pull out onto a road and the gear feels like it's not catching so I'm afraid with that hesitation that someone will hit me from behind. A few times I felt like I had gotten whiplash it was jerking so badly. Also, driving in reverse or even braking (slowing down) the car jerks and sounds and feels as though I'm being hit from behind. The car is jerking when accelerating. The car stalls then surges forward.

1. On may 17, 2010 , I was involved in a car accident in my 2006 Nissan Maxima where someone had rear ended me very hard. After getting the car back from the body shop. I noticed that when shifting gears the car stalls and jerks violently. Also when driving the transmission starts to slip , meaning I am pressing the gas pedal but the car isn't going anywhere , then it kicks back in place causing the car to jerk extremely ruff. 2. This problem so vaden Nissan say that the transmission is going bad and the extended warranty that I have on the vehicle , basically the won't do anything until a service light or code shows up, which is absolutely crazy. It occurs every time I drive it. It seem to when the car warms up it begins to happen. 3. I have taken it to vaden Nissan four times within a 3 month period. First they topped of the transmission fluid, second time the replaced the motor mounts, third time they replaced the starter and the fourth time, the service advisor told me I had to keep driving it until a service light came on . 3.
