The driver side airbag light has been on since I purchased this used vehicle from park place lexis. I was told to take it to a Nissan dealer. I am concerned this is a defect that should be replaced by Nissan under a recall and defective airbag. The airbag light is always on.

Air bag lights are blinking after a person in the passenger seat was moving around in the seat. I had it checked at a body shop and a code came up (b 1049). Detects a air bag diagnosis sensor and (or) air bag module. The car was running when the light came on. I don't remember if the car was in motion or not.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. While driving at any speed, the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a recall for the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure recurred and was not remedied. The NHTSA campaign number was unknown. The failure mileage was 71,425.

My vehicle air bag light came on took it to shop they will not fix it said the sensor in passenger seat needs replaced. I know there were recalls for this problem before but they tell me they only recalled certain 2009 Murano's but looking online this seems to be a problem with all Nissans. So I am wondering will there be a recall with this Nissan problem.
Airbag light on continuously took it to the service department stated I had to pay for the part and labor there have been recalls on these cars airbags.

190 pound passenger sitting straight upright, airbag light is illuminated on center console indicating that the passenger airbag is turned off while vehicle in motion for at least 30 minutes in duration. I rarely have passengers but this has occurred twice in 10k miles. I purchased the vehicle in 9/2016.

The front passenger side air bag sensor is faulty. When my 67 lb daughter sits in the front seat, the air bag light turns off indicating that the airbag is active. I brought the vehicle in to the dealer and they "updated and re-calibrated" the sensor, but I am still having the same issue. I was given another Murano as a loaner vehicle while they repaired mine and when my daughter sat in the front seat of the loaner vehicle, the air bag indicator turned off as well, indicating that the air bag was active, which is telling me that this is not isolated to my vehicle. I need to get this issue resolved and not sure where to turn, so I'm filing a report here.
Passenger side airbag light is continuously blinking.
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated and caused the front passenger seat classification system to fail. When the passenger seat was occupied, the air bag system would deactivate. The dealer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 68,202.

I received a recall notice for the front passenger seat OCS (16v244000). The dealer completed the service. Shortly after the vehicle began to exhibit the same symptoms again. The passenger side air bag off indicator light was on even though there was a 160 lb. Person in the seat. This did not happen all the time but periodically. I just had the vehicle in for service again and reported the problem still exists. The dealer had someone sit in the passenger seat and the light did not come on at that time. They simply gave me a sheet of paper telling me how the light works which is no different than what the manual says. They said the person sitting in the seat had probably not been sitting right causing the system to think no one was in it? there is still a problem with the passenger side airbag sensor, despite the initial recall. The problem does not happen all the time but it does happen periodically.

Air bag light stays on more now than before the recall repair .
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure with the varistor concerning the OCS control unit located in the passenger seat cushion. The air bag light was flashing on the front passenger side concerning the weight sensor pertaining to the dealer geri lynn Nissan (1772 martin luther king blvd, houma, la 70360, (985) 219-1111) who diagnosed that the weight sensor and varistor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in the 2 air bag recalls issued by the manufacturer but the vehicle had exhibited the failure concerning 1 of the 2 recalls issued by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, provided no assistance and indicated for the contact to have the dealer diagnose and repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

I noticed that my passenger airbag off indicator light was illuminated when I was sitting in the passenger seat. It would happen intermittently. Nissan issued a recall for the airbag and I took the car in to have it serviced and assumed it was a related issue. After the recall was completed, the same issue of the light occurred intermittently. I returned the car to Nissan who replaced the entire airbag module. After that, I still noticed the light would intermittently be on while there was a passenger in the seat. Specifically, myself or my daughter. Both of us are 110-120 lb adults. I again returned the car to Nissan who admitted that there is no definite weight that will activate the airbag and the 110-120 range is indeterminate. The suggestion was that I pull over and restart the car to reset the system to recognize a passenger in the seat. I am unable to establish any pattern of what causes it to happen. It seems very random. Occasionally when at a stop light, the car will recalculate and activate the airbag. I would estimate 40% of the time a passenger is in the seat, the light illuminates to indicate the airbag is off. I feel this is a faulty and dangerous design. No one disclosed when I bought the car I may not have airbag protection. Initially I was told the weight setting was anything greater than 70lbs would activate the airbag which is reasonable to protect smaller infant passengers that shouldn't be in the front seat to begin with. But adults and teens over 70lbs should have reliable and consistent airbag protection. I do have videos of myself in the passenger seat with the airbag light while we are driving on the highway if needed. I am disappointed and shocked Nissan does not feel this is a safety concern.
2015 Nissan Murano customer writes in regards to recall r1609 safety issue with the occupant classification system - OCS. After r1609 field service action performed on 10/30/15 OCS intermittiently incorrectly classifies an adult passenger weighing 150 lbs. As a child for periods of 12 seconds up to 8 minutes as indicated by the center console indicator. Issue occurs while stationary, in motion on city street or highway under all circumstances. Safety issue still remains a unresolved problem.
We are having a problem with the passenger air bag light. It doesn't always go off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. We've been informed if the light does not go off the passenger will not be protected by the air bag system. We've been told to turn the car off then restart it that this will solve the problem. This means we have to leave the road find a place to park shut the car off and restart it. This can be very difficult when on the freeway. Our concern is sometime we may not notice the air bag light is on, have an accident and the passenger won't be protected by the air bags. This has been going on hundreds of times since we bought the car brand new in June 2016 and Nissan tells us they can't find anything wrong with it.
Received a recall notice regarding the passenger airbag automatically turning off if an accident occurs. Took the vehicle in on 6/20/16 regarding the recall. Got home and now the airbag light will not go out since it was supposed to be looked at and fixed on 6/20/16. Have an appointment for 6/28/16. Not sure if there isn't a deeper problem with the airbag.
Ocs recall to have the computer reset for the passenger airbag indicator light. I have the exact systems as some others in the complaint section with this recall. Which is the light does not always go off when someone is siting in the passenger seat. It is an intermittent problem. I have notified the dealer about it but they couldn't do anything since it is a firmware issue that Nissan will have to patch again and notify dealers by a TSB plus I did notify Nissan customer service about the issue but they gave the usual run around answer go back to the dealer etc. Because you are dealing with a customer service rep not an engineer who can actually fix the problem. So it will take another recall etc. By NHTSA to force a fix.
Passenger airbag light remains on sporadically when a passenger is in the seat. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer two times but the problem hasn't been resolved. The problem is still occurring sporadically.
Started the engine about 1 month ago before pulling out of my driveway and the airbag light started blinking and remained on ever since. Took the vehicle to a Nissan dealer to have it checked. Initially they told me nothing was wrong with the airbag so they reset the light and charged a $75. 00 diagnostic fee. But as soon as the technician returned with the vehicle the light came back on again. He took it back to the repair area and after 2 hours he came back and said the airbag computer is malfunctioning and is not able to recognize the vehicle. He stated that it would cost $1500. 00 to replace the air bag computer which my warranty does not cover and I don't believe that this problem should be a customers responsibility as air bags are important safety features which should not just randomly malfunction especially since the vehicle has never been involved in any accidents whatsoever. I asked if there was a recall on the airbag and he said no, I also asked if this is recurrent problem for other consumers with the same vehicle and he responded that he does see this problem quite often with the same vehicle.
The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. When the vehicle was started, the air bag light remained illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the OCS and tpms sensors needed to be replaced. The dealer also stated that the warranty expired and that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but supported the dealer's recommendation. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 88,000.
Passenger air bag light comes on showing air bag off while passenger in seat. Have had it in several times and can't find problem. Do not feel comfortable traveling with this problem.
Driver's seat - the bracket in the rear left that supports the seat broke while driving. Air bags - the air bag light is on and will not go away. When I purchased the vehicle in Feb. 2016, the dealer assured me it was just a glitch in the display. Engine - started running rough about a week ago, while we were headed out of town. Cancelled that trip. Threw a "cylinder 3 misfire" code. My husband replaced that plug and coil and it continued to run rough. Today, it overheated and started dumping fluid on the ground. The suspension is also failing. When we hit a bump or pothole, it feels like the front end is going to fall off. I loved this car when we bought it and when it runs right, but right now, I am completely disgusted. I have only owned it for two months. I feel like we were robbed and we aren't in the financial standing to replace it.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Murano. While driving various speeds, the air bag indicator illuminated inconsistently. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer approximately five months ago and repaired per an unknown recall. The technician was unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and consulted with the dealer. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
The passenger air bag light and the main air bag indicator lights are both on our Murano. We are seeing the exact same issues as in the recall for certain 2009 Nissan Muranos and our Murano is barely outside the window of recalled Muranos. The dealership says they can't help us since it was built barely outside the dates of the recalled Muranos even though it is the exact same issue. Plus Nissan keeps having the same issues with different years of Muranos, so it is pretty obvious they have a widespread problem with this.
My Nissan Murano seat belt air bag light flashes constantly when I snap my seat belt this is while the vehical is in motion. While at Nissan dealership for oil change I was told by technician that there is no horn sound on the vehical. When I tapped the horn it does not work at all when the car is not is in motion or stationary.
The driver's side air bag light just appeared on one day. Vehicle has never been in any type of major accident. Had concern and had it checked out for some unreal amount to repair of which I can't afford to have repaired. My concern is with the recall on these airbags on the Nissan, I'm really concerned that one day it will just inflate and cause injury to me while driving. Is there a recall on air bags on this vehicle I saw on the news today (7/12/17) there is a recall on additional Nissan vehicles. Am I able to take vehicle in and have this repaired at no charge? please advise ASAP.
The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. Upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sensor in the passenger seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 121,000.
Purchased a new 2015 Nissan Murano platinum at end of may. Noticed right away when my 95 pound son would sit in front passenger seat, the 'passenger airbag deactivated' light would come on and stay on. We inquired with our local dealer and they said everything was checked out and operating correctly. We were told the new seat sensors were very sensitive and my son needed to 'move around' a bit in the seat to activate the front passenger airbag. That never worked. I started paying close attention to the indicator and noticed that about half the time the front passenger airbag would deactivate when I was in the front passenger seat, and I am 270 pounds! we were about to go back to the dealer again, when we noticed an article in the Sunday, September 6, 2015 new york times about this exact same issue in several 2014 Nissan models, which prompted this formal compliant.
The front passenger air bag sensor consistently fails to recognize the 150 pound passenger riding in the car. If, while starting the car, the front passenger moves in any fashion, the air bag indicator remains on, indicating the air bag is "off". No matter what the passenger does, including putting the seat belt on or off, once the air bag sensor is on, it will not go off. I must then turn the car off, ask the passenger to hold perfectly still, then restart the engine. If the passenger remains perfectly still while the car is turned on, the air bag sensor will turn off, indicating the air bag is "on". This occurs everytime I start the car. If I do not take this very specific set of steps, and I subsequently fail to notice the indicator remains on (air bag off), my passenger is in danger while driving. If the passenger enters the car while the engine is already running, I get no indication whatsoever from the air bag sensor. For example, is it activated or not? I have zero confidence in the front passenger air bag sensor.
Air bag light started flashing constantly and have noticed that one of the back seat belt locks do not work now.
While boarding my car driver seat broke and also the damage triggered the air bag light to pop since the driver seat is linked to air bag.
