Nissan Murano owners have reported 108 problems related to air bag (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Murano based on all problems reported for the Murano.
Supplemental air bags flashing on dashboard. Brought to Nissan dealership. Was able to stop blinking for five days. Brought back to dealership. Still there. Air bags may not expand during an accident or may activate without warning with no accident. My wife has osteoarthritis and is highly susceptible to serious injury as a result of either of the former incidents happening.

I purchased a 2007 Nissan Murano the end of June. The first time I drove it on a wet road I almost lost control, and I was driving well below the speed limit. The next week I got different tires put on and took it for an alignment. The first independent service center I took it to showed me where the rear subframe on both the driver and passenger were completely rusted through, and they told me I should drive the vehicle as little as possible until I got it fixed. I took it to a second independent service center to see if it could be fixed without having to be completely replaced, they told me they could not, nor could an aligment be done and that I should stop driving it immediately. I had only had the car for a month and a half before I had to park it. This is a major issue that needs to be addressed by Nissan!! I don't have the money to have the car fixed, nor can I sell it. So I'm making payments on a car that is doing nothing but collecting dust and taking up space. Unfortunately I am learning that this is a major issue with this vehicle. Nissan needs to fix it before people are killed, not just people driving the vehicle, but other motorists, and possible pedestrians. The airbag light is also on and I haven't been in an accident, nor has there been any work done to it since I bought it.

Both driver and passenger airbag lights have been on for about a year. This vehicle has never been involved in a car accident. I recently had the service dept at the dealership take a look as my mechanic was unable to troubleshoot the issue. The code the dealer found was b00a0-00, occupant sensor unit, abnormal voltage. The dealer is stating that the occupant sensor unit needs to be replaced as well as both sensors.

Airbag warning light blinking. Checked with mechanic and the passenger airbag will not deploy if an accident occurs.
The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, an accident occured in front of her and she crashed into the passenger side of one of the vehicles. The driver side air bags did not deploy. The contact stated she has injuries on her back, neck, right shoulder, left hand, both knees and both ankles, her chest was sore and has headaches. The contact did sought medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not driverable. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that a diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle by the dealer and it was determined that a sensor in the front driver’s side seat was defective, causing the failure. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacture was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall on the VIN and the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 207,000.
The airbag indicator light on dash blinks once, then five rapid blinks continuously. Took to Nissan dealership for repair. Charged $135 for diagnostics. They claimed the passenger seat air bag and bottom seat cushion would need to be replaced. That if the airbag indicator light was flashing none of the airbags work. The quote for repair was $2,884. 98 before taxes. This is a 2012 Nissan Murano so a very expensive repair for a safety feature on a 10 year old car. Declined the repair. Dealership claims this is not a recall. It should be a recall. And why does one faulty airbag embedded in a passenger seat disable the remaining air bags? the Murano mileage is 49607. The airbag error code is b1018. Very frustrating to have a low mileage car with the airbag system inoperable and very expensive to repair. This faulty part should be repaired by Nissan free to owners to enable the safety features to operate normally.
This car has had electrical issues from 2016 it's all in the carfax and it's caused me 2 accidents in less than 6 months and 1st was the car wouldn't stop like it's supposed to and it seemed like the assisted braking sometimes would kick in and out. . . Then 2nd one air bag deployed with airbag turned off.

Srs/airbags light flashing passenger airbag off. The airbag will not deploy if in a crash. Nissan code b1018 is diagnosed as needing the whole passenger seat replace due to the occupancy sensor in passenger seat. Nissan quoted repair at $5000. 00 to replace. Called Nissan and started case 45708222 on 2/4/22. Was told no safety recall on the 2012 Murano and Murano is too far out for Nissan to assist. In researching Nissan has had this safety issue since 2008 and there have been recalls on certain models but not 2012. I feel Nissan such stand behind this type of safety issue of this magnitude. The vehicle was purchased new and probably 75% of the 61,500 miles there was no passenger in the seat. What factor has to come into play for a safety recall to be issued? is it number of fatalities that occur for the occupancy sensor not deploying the airbags? I also tried to find out if Nissan has stopped using this type seat/sensors in the new models. Customer rep told me I needed to ask the dealer. The dealer had told me to ask Nissan so I'm at a loss on whether Nissan has changed to avoid this safety issue. I've always been pleased with Nissan and was considering trading this Murano for a 2022 platinum but since this has occurred my opinion is changing on the Nissan. Nissan has had a safety issue with these sensors since 2008 and forward. Nissan should have recalled any make/model that is/was equipped with the faulty occupancy passenger airbag sensors that could/can fail and cause bodily harm or death. Or even at least compensate on some of the expense. This is just wrong.
The sunroof firmware programing failed and did not properly close the sunroof. There was no visible gap or signs of failed sealing. Recently, southern California was hit with two storms. Unfortunately, the vehicle became flooded due to leaking in the sunroof because it did not close properly. The safety of my passenger and myself were put at risk as the dashboard filled with water, hence compromising airbag safety and electronic components. No error or check lights were illuminated. The vehicle has been inspected by both the dealership and my auto insurance representative. There were zero warning lamps, messages, nor symptoms. Had the sunroof firmware been properly coded, this never would have happened.
Car had a collision that totaled the car on 1/1/2022 & no air bags deployed. Officers on scene were very concerned that this safety feature did not engage due to the impact. The other vehicle involved air bags deployed but not ours.
The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the passenger’s side air bag warning light would remain illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the occupant classification control unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 105,000.

Passenger air bag is not working because of the seat sensor, (error code b1018 occ sensor fail). The 2012s have not been recalled, they did recall 2013 models(??). According to the blogs, this is a big problem with the 2012s. At this time dealership requested that I pay up front for the part, seat sensor $2,000. 00. That was back in November 2021. Currently still waiting on the part. I have called customer service at Nissan; they were no help.
When my wife sits down in the passenger seat the light in the dash that says the passenger airbag is engaged doesn't go out and you have to play with the seat belt clip to get it to go out. This has happened twice within the last two days and I have not yet brought it to the attention of the dealer nor Nissan.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an unknown speed, the passenger’s side air bag light flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was reset, and the warning light disappeared. A few weeks later, the warning light returned, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure with a defective sensor inside the passenger’s side seat. Upon investigation, the contact linked that failure to NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified and informed that contact that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The contact was also provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Passenger seat airbag code keeps flashing on with b1018 code present. Read that this is a common issue with Nissan vehicles and that’s it’s possible there is a recall.
I see the air bag light on and won't turn off for about almost a week and a half after I purchase it a week later this year and it lightly shakes when I put on drive ,don't know if that will be another issue . Hopefully I can have your company gide me in the right direction to solve this problem .
Airbag waring indicator light came on. Passenger seat airbag disabled warning light came on as well. Performed a reset, and both lights stayed off for a few days, then came back on again. Took car to dealer who would not even do a brief check that day, scheduled appointment for nearly 3 weeks later. Today the dealer gave us the code b1018 and offered an estimate of over $4300 for repairs. With all the recalls of similar Nissan airbag devices, including 2013 Nissan Murano's, I am filing this complaint because there may also be a pattern of similar failures for 2012 Murano's. I have contacted the Nissan consumer complaint center, filed my concern, and advised them we would be notifying NHTSA as well as seeking potential legal remedies. Local dealer is 5 star Nissan in albany GA.
My light came on from my air bags and my horn doesn’t work and the air bags censure isn’t working.

The contact's daughter owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact's daughter called a dealer who informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle and that an extensive repair would have to be performed on the vehicle. The contact then called the manufacturer who informed him that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Took in my vehicle this morning to get 4 recalls fixed, and dealership stated they could only fix one of the 4 issues. Spoke to a representative and she stated the issues for the model of the SUV were not included in the VIN number, therefore the dealership couldn't assist with all 4 issues. The lights on the dashboard of the SUV are on and all pertain to the 4 issues not included in the VIN. How can I get these included in the VIN number so the dealership can fix the issues? the issues are as follow: NHTSA campaign number: 18v916000 NHTSA campaign number: 09v393000 NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 NHTSA campaign number: 08v066000.
These codes show up when maintenance on my car c 1130 abs p1801 engine code booao airbag. P 17fl cvt. Transmission code .
My horn or cruise control in steering wheel no longer works. Airbags light blinks one lond time and the 2 short times repeatedly.
Deployed under dash airbag broke right knee tibia bone. Vehicle was stationary preparing to turn left on the intersection when the vehicle going in opposite direction collided with with stationary Murano. No damages due to an accident but improper design of the under dash airbag with projection for up to 6 month recovery. In us vehicles legs are position differently since pedals on the different levels and right led is almost stretched hence airbag shall accommodate for it.

Front and passenger bags just went out. Was never involved in a wreck. Very strange. Worried sick now about the safety of driving it. Please help.
Our vehicle has been in 2 accidents - one where we were struck in the rear left bumper and the other we were struck in the front left bumper. Speeds were about 20 mph. Neither resulted in the airbags being deployed. We have experienced many issues with the electrical system including failure of the radio/climate control screen, speaker volume changing without initiation and unable to be controlled, & rear speakers not functioning. These occurred at all times of vehicle operation.

Local Nissan dealership is putting up barriers to my recall repair. On 2 different occasions, I was told that we don't do recall repairs on the weekend. I don't understand why their labor costs on the weekend are my problem. I called on a Monday morning when I was on vacation from work. Not only could the service manager not confirm for me whether they had the necessary parts on hand to repair my recall. . . She also said they only do it by appointment and need 1 weeks notice!! so I am being expected to bring my car in twice (once for them to look at it and confirm I'm on the recall list, and a 2nd time to get the repair done). How is it that the manufacturer makes a defective product, yet I am expected to jump through all these hoops, take time off of work (vacation time) to meet all of their terms of fixing a mistake that Nissan made. But hey, they were sure to get those notices mailed out super fast, to give me the impression they cared about my spouses life/death risk every day when she drives a flawed product to/from work. So unaccommodating and arrogant of Nissan to put their customers through this gauntlet.

Our son was leaving long pond, harwich MA recreational parking lot at a regular driving speed, there are pot holes in the parking lot there but he did not go over them any faster or slower than normal. The air bags went off a few seconds after going through one of the pot holes but he did not go through the pot hole any faster or slower than he has been through the parking lot before.
Takata recall: sun visor on the driver's side will not stay up or down in position.
Takata recall was informed by mechanic that there is an issue with air bags and they need to be checked out can be dangerous. While driving the car slows down on its own on higway.
