Transmissions gear slips and jerks unexpectedly. You never know when it will jerk when accelerating. Will probably need to rebuild the whole transmission that will cost plenty. Also dangerous for my family to drive.

The pressure power steering hose develops a terrible leak. Eventually required a 1/2 bottle of ps fluid nearly every day! the problem is that the hose is "buried" behind the engine and extremely difficult to replace. A replacement hose is less than $100 but it takes multiple hours of pain and frustration to replace. This type of poor workmanship is totally unacceptable. The fact that it's so difficult to fix a known problem is unconscionable. Nissan should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of consumers. The leaked caused steering issues on numerouse occasions. It never failed completely due to the fact that I carried a gallon jug of ps fluid with me everywhere I went. Now, not only did it take me forever to repair this item, my driveway is an eyesore. Power steering fluid is a very caustic product and does not clean up therefore it has destroyed my driveway. I¿m sorely disappointed.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. While waiting at a stop light, the engine surged and the vehicle was forced out into a four-way intersection. After a few seconds, the engine went back to idling normally. On February 9, 2015, while waiting at a restaurant drive thru, the engine surged forward while the brakes were engaged and crashed into the preceding vehicle. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

The vehicle has developed a hesitation from a stop position. When you are stopped at a traffic light and try to accelerate, the vehicle hesitates. It does not do it all the time but it is getting more frequent. I had the vehicle back to the dealership before the warranty ran out. They said nothing wrong. I have also talked to Nissan customer relations (mark @ 615-725-7561) and was assigned a case number (19100795). I feel like this is a safety issue which should be addressed by Nissan. I know there is a recall about this problem and hills and low gas. I never let my gas tank get below 1/2 tank and where I live and drive there are no hills. I am documenting this issue in case an accident results, in which case Nissan will hear about it again.

The 2005 Nissan Quest se has severe problems with motor mounts and their faulty design which resulted in a vehicle crash. My wife went to the dollar store, this being about two months after all the motor mounts were replaced, she got in and started to back out as she pressed the accelerator the engine revved up to 3000 rpm and then jammed the transmission into gear causing it to jerk the wheel violently and bark the tires the engine is so quiet you cannot hear if this is happening it propelled the vehicle right into another vehicle parked all the way in the parking spaces behind her costing us 2000 dollars to pay for vehicle damage there could had been pedestrians around which could have been hit and killed there is over 30000 complaints online of this same problem. I urge you to please make Nissan fix the defective motor mounts problems there is plenty of evidence on this our motor mounts now have to be replaced every 4 months because they keep going bad costing 1200 dollars each time they are a bad design and is urgent to be fixed because they help control transmission engagement thank you.

Was told by the dealer that the front engine mount needs to be replaced, as it was starting to wear. The engine was not moving at all at this time. In December 2014 was told again of the engine mount at the dealer (engine still not moving). Spoke with mechanic regarding issue and why he thinks it needs replacing. I was shown by the mechanic why he thinks it needed to be replaced. I told the mechanic and the service personnel that within all the years of my driving and that with all the vehicles I have owned I have never replaced an engine mount. Ask mechanic if this was an issue with all Nissan's or just the Quest, the response I received was only the Quest.

Engine mount found broken during oil change. Changed and found broken again at about 50000. Changed and found broken a third time at 75000.
Hi we were on way from niagara to harrisburg in our Nissan Quest 2007. There was no maintainence issue in my vehicle. I had a fuel filled at corning and on the way towards harrisburg on us-15 near to lawerenceville, my vehicle was on 65mph and suddenly the engine stopped and I pulled over to the shoulder. Luckily it got completely pulled over to the shoulder. The mechanic near toiga told me that the timing chain has snapped and has caused the engine damage and it is a known problem with the Nissan vehicle. Need your help to register the complaint.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Nissan Quest. The contact received a notification for recall from the manufacturer; however was told that her VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the fuel gage sensor did not operate properly and the warning light did not illuminate; the service engine illuminated and did not turn off. The contact failure mileage was approximately 120,000. Bd.
I got out of the car, turned it off and went on the house minutes later the car was on fire. The flames were big and they were in the front passenger side of the engine. I had just drove the car about an hour, there was no smell no sound no indicator lights nothing. The flames were big and car went up fast.
While driving, the car suddenly loses power and comes to a stop. After several attempts to restart the engine I decided to check the mte and gas guage which both indicate there is plenty of gas to continue. I had the battery, alternator and starter checked and they were fine. So I decided to add more gas then shazam it started. Please inform if there's a recall or how to remedy the issue. Thanks.
My wife notified me that while driving to work, our van a 2005 niissan Quest 3. 5 s, without warning completely shut off leaving her stranded in the middle of traffic. After a few minutes and several attempts she was able to restart the vehicle and return home. On another occasion while I was driving the vehicle around town I experienced a similar incident when again without warning the van shut completely off as I was approaching an intersection on a red light. After bringing the vehicle to a complete stop without braking assist or power steering it restarted after a few attempts. During both incidences the vehicle had a full tank of fuel and showed no indications of trouble.
I was sitting at a red light when suddenly the engine started to rev very high. I pressed hard on the brake to prevent moving and turned the ignition off. I started it again and the same thing happened. The third time I tried the revving, while still higher than normal, was less. I was able to go to a parking lot and turn off the car to have it towed.

Van makes a rattle when rpm's are lower than 3000. It's the timing chain as I was told by a mechanic.
It was anois caming under the car we take to mechanic . They told me timing chain. Is loose dont drive like yhis it is danger 3500 dollars to fix it . Wr take it to the nissn they said the same . Asking lotsof money to fix it . This problem is manufacture foult but seems like they dont care. No more nisan for me I havent finidfh payment yet.
My car randomly accelerated on 2 occasions , may 30, 2013 and June 27, 2013. The first incident resulted in a crash, hitting a pole, tree, and another vehicle. 2nd incident was a near miss, almost had a head on collision with another vehicle. My 9 year old son and I were in the car. No resolution from Nissan. They are not concerned about safety. Want me to take car back without any explanation.
During regular oil change dealer advised lower "a" arm of suspension and left side engine mount were defective and needed change. I responded I had extended warranty go ahead. Dealer stated there was no extended warranty, I needed to pay cash first. I insisted the dealer send someone to the car a copy of the extended warranty was in the glove compartment. The dealer finally accepted there was an extended warranty. The anomaly is that the oil drain and filter are in immediate proximity to the suspension and engine mount and the defects were not detected during previous oil changes. It was only after the factory warranty expired the defects were found. The dealer expected no warranty existed and therefore cash would need to be paid. Cash payment for non-warranty is kept solely by the dealer. My concern is the defects were found while the vehicle was still under factory warranty and we were sent back out onto the highway in a defective vehicle waiting for the factory warranty to expire. There is a possibility dealers are sending dangerous cars back out onto the highway waiting for factory warranties to expire and not have to split repair fees with corporate.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the timing chain slack quide. The timing chain fixture can not keep the chain tight. The contact did not contact the manufacture. I was driving about 50 mph when I heard a noise coming out of the engine crank noise when I stopped to check , the engine stopped and never started again I towed to garage and they say it is the timing chain ,.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the engine revved with hesitation. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. The vehicle operate normally after waiting for one hour. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The contact was uncertain of the malfunction detected by the trouble code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000. The VIN was unavailable.
2006 Nissan Quest purchsased brand new from Nissan dealership in thousand oaks, CA in 2007. With 68k miles on it, it's falling apart. Timing chain is shot, a-arm bushings cracked, front engine mount cracked, abs switch failed was replaced. Contacted Nissan consumer affairs nam, they wouldn't help me. The timing chain is a known issue wth Nissan. They issued a service bulletin in December of 2009 for the Quest, maxima, altima. It's just too soon in this vehicles lifecycle to have these issues.

I own a Nissan Quest 05. I got it brand new. I had it for 6 years and after 51,000 miles I was told by the dealership that I need anew timing chain. They are asking $2200. Its a defect and they should cover it.
While driving in a local street, engine turned off. Had about 1/4 tank of gas left in tank. I don't know if it was due to going down hill. When engine turned off I was able to roll down the hill until I pulled over at a flat part of the road. I was able to turn minivan back on once I stopped and waited a few seconds. Incident happened again on 2/20/2012. Again, there was about 1/4 tank of gas left. Went over a major bridge and on the way down the engine turned off again. I was able to roll down to a flat surface. Car didn't turn on in my first attempt but did turn on second attempt about a minute later.
I was approaching a red light, applying brakes, so car was going about 2mph when it suddenly began shaking and rumbling. I was on a small down hill incline. The engine just cut off and the car did not allow me to press on the brakes any longer. The car continued rolling through the red light/ intersection when I applied the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. Put car in park and attempted restarting 4 times, but it would not allow me to press my foot on the brake in order to start the car. After 4 attempts, I was able to get the car to start. Fuel indicator told me I had 33 miles to empty. I drove another 10 miles and filled the gas.
As my wife drove our brand new Quest down a slope to make a left hand turn, the Quest died. She stopped the car and tried to restart it to no avail. When I arrived I had her attempt to start as I listened to the engine, it was turning and the car had power but it was acting like it had no fuel. The gauge showed a little over 1/4 tank. When the tow truck arrived he took us to a gas staton first, after fueling the car started. When I submitted it to the Quest dealership the service chief said this was the third time he's seen this happen in the past month! the fact that Nissan has clear evidence of a problem that can prove very, very, dangerous yet has not issued a recall is very disturbing. Please address, thank you.
My new 2012 Nissan Quest was parked in my driveway with the front slightly facing down looking at the road with less than quarter tank of gas. The van would start but would not stay idle and the dash board indicated that the van had enough gas to go 25 miles. I had to put the van in neutral to roll it down the street (flat surface) before it can be started and kept on idle. When you roll the van down in neutral with the engine off you loose your power brakes, so I had to make sure there were no cars coming from either side. I reported the incident to the Nissan dealer, also filed a complaint with the manufacturer, and the dealer kept the car for couple of days but could not find anything wrong with it. I was told by the dealership that Nissan engineering team will be contacting me for further action, and in the meantime I am supposed to keep the gas tank filled above the 1/4 tank mark at all times. For us (with our Quest), it is only an issue when the gas tank is low on gas below the 1/4 tank mark and it is parked in an incline with the front facing down or during a sharp vehicle turn with the gas tank very low. Hopefully Nissan will find a fix for this soon, because I am concerned for the safety of my family.
I was driving down a moderate incline on low fuel when the engine stopped running. I was able to safely pull to the curb and restart the engine. I took the car into the Nissan dealership to be looked at and was told there were 3 other cars in line with the same problem. Nissan is well aware of the problem. I was then told not to let the fuel tank get below 1/2 tank.
Nissan Quest 2006 sl 40,000 miles my shift lever stuck in park even though I am pressing the brakes and they told me at the dealer to use a screwdriver to override the shift which I think is a hazard or to replace the total shift. But I told them its a manufacture defect and they have to pay for it. Also like to mention that they have a very bad customer service. This is my 2nd car with Nissan I use to have the 1999 Quest. But I will never buy Nissan cars any more.
My engine keep shutting off, it happened many times when my car's fuel down to less than 25% of tank or around 60 miles left, and the car downhill only. Example: I was pulling out my car out from drive way and down to street, it keep shutting off, or my car cutting fuel. Couldn't pull my car until my car put in ignition on and have someone to push to level on the street. Then my car can start on the engine. It was so dangerous, because the brake was off and engine was off, have someone to push the car. Also, I am afraid when I am driving on the road, if suddenly happen like that. I am not sure what to do. . . This is car always drive with the my kids.
We have a 2006 Nissan Quest with 85,000 miles on it. For a while we have been hearing a whine when we accelorate. We have been told that we will need to replace the timing chain for about $2,700. When I started to research this it seems like this a common enough issue that it needs to be looked into. Timing chains should not have any issues till atleast 200,000 miles.
I own a 2004 Nissan Quest. I recently had to replace the timing chain at a cost of $1500. 00. I am quite angry about this since I have recently found out that many other owners are also experiencing the same problem with the Quest. This is an issue Nissan should have recalled the car for. I was told hat if this chain had broken while I was drivng, it could cause teh the engine tro seize. Well that is just great to know that I hand my daughter the keys to this car and they could have been killed. Is that what you are waiting for. . Someone to die before you realize how big a problem this is? I have also read that other makes of Nissan are also experiencing this problem. Nisssan should be held responsible for this repair. I have always purchased Nissan, but with these kind of costly repairs and dangerous issue at hand, I will definately choose another maker if Nissan does not come forward with a recall and reinburse those of us that have already had pay for these costly repairs. I am very disapointed with Nissan, since I am sure they are aware of this problem and have done nothing about it.
My 2004 Nissan Quest se caught on fire and was totaled. The vehicle has been acting strange and 5 days prior to the fire was the last day I drove it. It would not crank after I put it in the garage and so I was going to have it towed to the Nissan dealer the next week. It was not touched after that day until we were awoke by our smoke alarms. We opened our garage door as it was the nearest exit only to realize the fire was in the garage. When we went outside around to the garage we saw that the fire was coming from under the hood of the van out the windshield and passenger side front tire.
My Nissan Quest stops while driving . . .
2005 Nissan Quest when locking doors through alarm control, at times, the driver and passanger windows will roll down. Started to occur at 61,000 miles. Tire pressure light turns on even when tire prressure is adequate. Started to occur at 51,000 miles. Timing chain guides were beleived to have been broken, ocurred at 63,000 miles. Gas gage at times will not display correct level of gasoline in tank. Started to occur at 54,000 miles. Back hatch stopped working at 42,000 miles.
On my 2004 Nissan Quest, the camshaft position sensor failed on my vehicle in the middle of traffic causing my car to cut off completely. This almost caused 2 accidents before I could steer the car off the road.
