While making a left turn at approximately 10 mph in light snow conditions, braking became severely impaired with pedal pressure present but vehicle failing to decelerate, and steering became significantly resistant and insufficient to redirect the vehicle away from the obstacle. Vehicle continued toward a tree despite brake pedal input and steering input away from the tree. Slippery road warning light activated before and during the incident. Multiple additional warning lights activated during and after impact. Airbags did not deploy despite collision. Post-incident, steering required significant opposite steering input to drive straight for approximately 1. 7 miles to reach a safe parking location, consistent with front-end damage affecting steering alignment. Prior to this incident, I experienced multiple separate occasions where braking felt abnormal and insufficient in conditions requiring higher traction including rain and snow. I verbally reported this concern once to an authorized Nissan dealer in December 2025 and was told this was normal aeb system behavior. No documentation was created for this verbal complaint. Vehicle had a prior manufacturer recall performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on June 1, 2024 reconfiguring the ipdm/usm — the module controlling electronic steering column lock and can bus safety system communications. At that same visit, the Nissan technician documented abnormally dirty brake fluid at only 14,410 miles on this 2023 vehicle. A second manufacturer recall reprogramming the ecm was performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on December 4, 2025, approximately two months before this incident. The vehicle is available for inspection. No independent or dealer post-incident inspection has occurred. An insurance claim has been opened. Incident occurred within the 3-year/36,000-mile manufacturer warranty period at under 31,000 miles.

Driving 55 mph down road when my 2018 Nissan Rogue sl awd automatically slammed on the brakes by itself. Lights on the dashboard flashed and it made horrible breaking sound the force flung me forward but seat belt locked up holding me in place. There was absolutely nothing or no one fffcccffin front me. Luckily no one was behind me eor they would’ve hit me. Can’t figure out a way to turn off this safety collision feature because it’s a put hazard!.

While driving the automatic brake stopped the car while turning in a curve. However in another incident I was cut off and brakes did not automatically stop. The brakes works when they want too. Not reliable or safe. Separately, the steering wheel randomly squeaks while turning. It doesn't do it often, every other month or so I will hear the speaking sound.

How brake failure caused the Rogue to crash. “I was coming up on a stop and was trying to slowly come to a stop. But I noticed that my car wasn’t slowing down. So, I tried to brake harder by pushing on the brake pedal, but the pedal resisted my foot pressure. I pressed harder on the pedal, but the car didn’t start to beep the collision warning. I was not in control of the braking system (and) the car would not stop. The car wasn’t allowing me to brake. As everything happened so fast. I ended up rear ending someone. ”.
Randomly when driving, the pedestrian crossing message will show in the dash and the brakes will kick on. It's happened too many times. The Nissan logo has been cleaned and the radar sensor does not have any fault codes showing. But the emergency brake will kick on and it has almost caused accidents.
Event description - car began veering off the road to the left - driver attempted to correct the unintended maneuver, but the car increased in speed, despite braking - the car then lost all steering and braking capability, - in an attempt to control/stop the car, it instead proceeded uncontrollably performing a doughnut on the roadside embankment, and another doughnut that landed the vehicle back on the road, horizontally against oncoming traffic - the vehicle was then put in park, but the gear indicator, indicated that the car was still in drive - with foot on brake, the gear stick was shifted to the “drive” position, but the car went in reverse instead of forward - the vehicle was then completely turned off, and restarted. At that point, the vehicle proceeded as usual. - vehicle was then driven to a safe location.

The front camera and sensors are constantly popping up that they are disabled. The front sensor failed to indicate warning and failed emergency brake. Car should have stopped but I stead it hit the car in front. Sensors, and other electrical services are constantly disabling themselves, or failing to work. What is the point of safety features if they constantly fail.

I was on the freeway, going 65mph. Suddenly, I felt my car partially brake. Thank god I was close to an exit and got off safely. My car partially braked again while I was going 35mph down the street. As I cautiously drove home, the fcw kept blinking, even though there was ample distance between me and other cars, and at times, no car in front of me. It's winter time and there's snow on the ground. This could cause an accident!!!.

This is a rental vehicle- I had several incidents when I could not stop the vehicle. Above the brake is a structural bar about 1/2" in diameter. I wear a size 13 shoe. At several red lights I tried to apply the brake but the car would not stop. (I did stop before hitting anyone) upon investigation I discovered that my toe was pressing on the bar, not on the brake. Only when my shoe's heel was on the floor was I able to clear the bar and step on the brake. I normally keep my foot somewhat higher than the floor when braking my own car, so this was a dangerous surprise to me.
There appears to be a problem with the automatic emergency braking (aeb), while driving on 2 occasions, my nossan 2018 roque automatically slowed down by itself and flashed a warning on the dash board and made an audible beeping sound. The tires also had friction against the road, showing the breaks activated on their own although there was no risk of an accident or obstacle in the way so t should not have activated. Thos seems dangerous because it slows the car down randomly and might actually cause an accident. It happened 22dec2025 and about 6 driving sessions before that so it's a recurring issue.
The most recent incident the emergency brake locked on and the dash flashed system malfunction , maintenance needed, , emergency braking system shut down and several indicators were shut down . This continued for 90 minutes while I was on the phone with Nissan and was waiting for the tow truck when arriving at Nissan 72 miles away , they were not able to find any codes and the car was fine no issues . Luckily I have video to back my story . I have pictures and videos of other times it has done this , but no one will look into why it keeps doing this and it’s done it several time over 2 1/2 years . They changed the stop /start button and it helped but now it’s starting to flash the emergency braking system is off again which is a build up to a major episode again. My Rogue has less than 40, 000 miles on it and has been one issue like this after another with them slapping band aides on it and not finding the source of the problem. They even claim it cleared the bearing failure test but the test was preformed while it was on route to Nissan on a tow truck .
I purchased my vehicle in October 2025 for over $20,000, and it just started having issues on December 8, 2025. I have taken it to the dealership and made the head office aware of the issue I am having. The vehicle experiences delayed or absent braking response when brake pedal is applied. Dealership claims no issue found, but the vehicle fails to decelerate as expected, creating an imminent risk of collision. The vehicle has been at the coggin Nissan dealership in jacksonville since January 22,2026. I am not receiving any feedback or response on addressing the issue. I am now renting a car for which Nissan headquarters said will reimburse until yesterday but my issue is not resolved and my car is not safe to drive. Thank you for your help on this matter. I was driving on a four lane road, no car in front in my lane, only a car in the lane to the left and a car behind, when the forward collision warning came up and immediately activated the automatic emergency braking. There were no cars or objects in the road ahead that would have triggered the forward collision warning. Fortunately the car behind did not hit me despite the abrupt and unexpected stop. For context, I have had an ongoing issue with this car detecting shadows when in reverse (mostly in my driveway) and thinking they are objects or people, which triggers the automatic emergency braking. On the day of the incident described above the weather condition was sunny.
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, the airbag warning light illuminated. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership in texas for diagnosis. The technician confirmed that the airbag fault was present before the vehicle was sold to me. According to the diagnostic records, the selling dealer (kelly Nissan in oak lawn, illinois) had previously scanned the airbag system, identified an airbag fault code, cleared the code without performing the repair, and then proceeded to sell the vehicle. This means the airbag defect existed at the time of sale and was intentionally or negligently undisclosed. The system continues to show a malfunction indicator, and the clay cooley Nissan dealership in richardson, texas identified the issue as an electrical airbag system failure requiring a repair estimated at $2,304. 15. This defect affects the supplemental restraint system (srs), which may result airbags failing to deploy during a crash improper deployment increased risk of injury or death the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. The selling dealer refuses to authorize repair outside illinois, leaving me with an unsafe vehicle that cannot be feasibly transported. Nissan corporate states this is the dealer's responsibility and will not intervene. Given that this defect relates directly to the federally regulated airbag safety system, I am requesting NHTSA’s investigation into whether this represents a broader issue of airbag system defects or improper clearing of airbag fault codes prior to sale by the dealer.

I was using the snow mode because there was a little bit of snow and ice on the road. I had been driving it that morning and did not have a problem until I turned in to my street. I turned right and the steering and brakes and accelerator all locked, leaving me where my car slid across the road and the left drivers side tire ran over the curb. I was not able to correct anything as everything locked. Even though I am okay and was going less than 5 mph while turning. I feel like the whole car's function to lock is unsafe as it left me to hope the curb would stop it. The car had to get towed and is now in the shop with $4,000 of damage to that tire and tire rods which I feel like could not have been prevented considering everything was locked and did not allow me to correct properly.
I was driving 70 mi. / an hour and then all of a sudden the car jerked very hard. The car behind me had to hurry up and move from behind me because he saw my car had come coming to a complete stop at 25 to 35 miles an hour. A show that I had a crash and then I tried to accelerate to go pick up the speed and I couldn’t go no more than 45 miles was very scary don’t want driver car like that haven’t had the car a month and I’m having issues with something I’m paying for that shouldn’t be happening.
My vehicle was in for recall r22a6 / 22v-549 for the brake booster power supply since the brakes felt spongy and there was a loud ringing sound so we look around a round out about the recall. After the recall repair, all brake codes cleared except c1111 – abs pump motor failure. The part is still on the vehicle and available for inspection. They told us it was not safe to drive because we have press hard on the brake for the vehicle to stop because the braking system may not function properly, especially during sudden braking or slippery conditions. Nissan has acknowledged the failure through the dealership’s diagnosis. Prior to the recall repair, multiple brake system warning lights were illuminated. Nissan already has an abs actuator recall (NHTSA recall 18v-601) on several models from the same years (murano, maxima, pathfinder).
While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [xxx], the second incident was [xxx]. On both occasions, I had my [xxx] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The vehicle has activated a false aeb on several ocassions since I purchased the vehicle. I immediately took it back to Nissan and they stated there were no recalls and the vehicle seemed to have no issues. I've had the vehicle for 5 years and it continues to occur, nearly causing a traffic collision.

Brakes automatically stop car.
2021 Nissan Rogue sport. While driving, the forward collision warning/automatic emergency braking system will sometimes activate without reason. The vehicle applies the brakes suddenly, even when there are no obstacles, vehicles, or hazards in front of me. This false activation occurs intermittently and poses a safety concern, as it can cause unexpected braking in traffic. The issue has happened under normal driving conditions, without any obstructions on the road.
While stopped at a stop light, I turned off adaptive cruise control. Upon the light turning green and accelerating to 10-15mph, the parking brake spontaneously engaged locking up the rear wheels bringing the car to a immediate, unexpected and jarring stop in moving traffic. The vehicle was a rental and was not inspected afterwards. No warning lights appeared on the dash warning of the parking brake engagement nor did any appear after the parking brake was fully engaged.
While on the highway heading to florida. . . . . . . All kinds of lights came on and reduced the speed. It was hard to understand what happened but I made it to the Nissan place halfway through the trip. They couldn't do much and had no loaners but the reset the codes in my car. As it was cleared. . . . . Everything went back to normal as of nothing happened. But on my way back home . . . . . It happened again. This time I couldn't make it to Nissan but I made it to auto zone and a local shop in orangeburg. They received 13 different codes. Again. . . . There's was nothing they could do so they man reset the codes in my car. Clear the code n I made it home safely with my family.
My car moves after I put it in park. It jerks forward even though I have it in park. Sometimes before I turn the engine off and sometimes after. I believe its the transmission and it should have been recalled but it hasn't.

When parking, my car keeps automatically applying brakes. I have turned off this setting yet. It continues to happen. Safety is at risk when my car stops in the middle of the street instead of continuing to back up. Cars following behind me are unaware that my car will randomly break. I have not reached out to a dealer with these concerns and have yet to get an inspection.
In forward motion a loud griding noise on drivers side was noticed. Stopped at a repair shop and told the calipers are bad. Nissan has a recall for the rear brake calipers for failure, but we were told that our VIN. Number does not apply, yet they failed less that 100,000 and the front calipers are original. Front should fail 3 to 1 to the back. . . The back should not have failed. Nissan corp. Did not want to entertain out complaint. Nissan case# 55061723.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds; there were squeaking and grinding sound coming from the front passenger’s side wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnose and it was determined that the caliper, brake pads, and rotor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact had learned of NHTSA campaign numbers: 23v791000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 21v286000 (service brakes hydraulic); and linked the failure to the recalls; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced a sudden and severe brake system failure that created an immediate safety hazard. While driving at low speed, the brake pedal traveled to the floor with little to no braking response. The vehicle could not decelerate normally and required significantly increased stopping distance, placing me and other motorists at risk of a collision. Following the incident, the vehicle was evaluated by an independent service provider. Diagnostic results indicated a brake fluid level fault, and findings were consistent with a failing master cylinder and/or internal hydraulic brake system malfunction. Although the brake fluid reservoir appeared full, braking performance was critically compromised, indicating an internal failure rather than routine wear or maintenance. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts prior to the failure. No brake warning light or other indication of reduced braking capability was present. The failure occurred without advance notice, eliminating any opportunity for preventive action by the driver. The vehicle had recently passed a state safety inspection and was represented as roadworthy at the time of sale. A vehicle with an internal hydraulic brake failure or compromised master cylinder should not pass inspection or be certified for use on public roads. Due to the seriousness of the defect and the immediate safety risk, the vehicle was returned to the dealer. Prior to return, no tow assistance was provided despite the known brake defect, requiring limited operation of a vehicle with unsafe braking capability and further increasing public safety risk. The defective condition was confirmed by an independent source and was reproducible in that braking performance was unreliable. Although the vehicle has been returned, this incident raises concern that similar vehicles may experience sudden brake failure without warning, posing a serious crash and injury risk to the public.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard without warning. The contact pumped the brake pedal to stop the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact coasted the vehicle to a stop and after the vehicle came to a complete stop, the brake functionality returned. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an attempt was made to replace the brake calipers; but the mechanic was unable to perform the repair. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred for a second time while driving at a slow speed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle remained 2 weeks; however, the dealer could not duplicate or diagnose cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
This system will activate on its own with no warning.
There is a dash light coming on and warning saying “front radar obstruction” causing car to randomly brake, and cruise control not to work. Thought it was originally from a deer I hit March 30, 2025. Replaced sensors, cameras, emblem, checked wiring, recalibrated, multiple diagnostic test all done by more than one person. No one can figure it out even after replacing and testing it’s still happening. Insurance deemed it a coincidence that this started happening after I hit the deer and said problem is not from hitting the deer.
Auto was parked in driveway, facing garage (door opened). When I turned on ignition to place car in garage it accelerated without warning. My hard braking had no effect and car went through garage knocking out the back wall and a large portion of cement block foundation.

Issues with false activations of emergency braking, Nissan acknowledges issues in technical service bulletins but doesn't feel is enough to create a recall or special coverage even tho is a major safety issue, imagine it happening on the highway, which read it has and there is a semi behind you, could result in death very easily. Brakes will randomly lock up the car to a dead stop out of nowhere and flash bunch of warning lights. Have a friend with a Nissan car that did same thing and caused a major accident with injuries. I am a certified master technician and I find this very concerning and needs to be addressed. Will be having an independent mobile programmer update the software which isnt listed for 2019s in the technical service bulletin only for 17-18. And hope that it never happens again, but that will all be out of pocket.
Parking brake light blinking and vehicle would not drive forward or reverse.
I have a 2019 Nissan Rogue. I was driving on the freeway and my emergency breaks went off for no reason. The car in front of me was more than 50 feet away. Thankfully we were in moderate traffic and the car behind me was able to swerve to avoid rear ending me. I searched online and other Rogue owners have had the same problem. Nissan needs to recall the aeb system in these cars. I am glad I have a dash cam and was able to record the incident. I don’t feel safe driving my car knowing this is a common problem.
