Engine crankshaft broke, was cruising down the highway doing 70 in the fast lane, lost power steering then realized the truck was not running any longer, thankfully it was at night and the highway wasn't busy and was able to coast back to the right side of the highway to an exit ramp, but could have been a lot worse. Had no warning truck was running perfectly fine before hand, it did restart a couple hours later but has a loud knocking and low oil pressure light comes on it shuts down. Had to get towed. Vehicle is able to be inspected any time, I still owe on it and dealership is quoting 25k to 30k to repair and truck is not worth that. Have been told by multiply shops that this is becoming and issue with these trucks. The component has not been inspected by anybody mention above in your questions. No warning lights and no signs that it was going to shut off.

Loud rattle/knocking from engine while driving. Truck shut down with no advanced warning and would not start or turn over. Got off road and had vehicle towed. 2 different diesel mechanics suspect broken crankshaft.
2017 57,000 miles, very well maintained truck with turbo actuator issues (replaced 3 times). I was driving down the highway taking my kid to practice, when the truck started to act up. I took the cruise control off and started slowing down to get to a safe place off of the highway, when the truck shut off and came to a complete stop. Oil changed every 5000 mi by myself a retired military mechanic. The engine is seized up with a broken crankshaft. =this happened while driving down a very busy highway which made pulling over almost impossible. My child could have been injured or even worse if I couldn't get to the side of the road to safety. This seems to be a very.

. Crank shaft and bearing failure - metal in oil pan. . Stranded on side of interstate towing a boat 7 hours from home . Confirmed by dealer . No . No warnings or symptoms.
The exhaust manifolds on the driver and passenger side are cracked. Ticking sounds are made while car is cold and goes away after they have heated up enough, typically after 5 minutes. This results in letting in exhaust fumes inside the cabin, regardless of the air conditioner/heater is on, which leads to being lightheaded and nearly passing out and crashing. The fumes are stronger when stationary but happens no matter what, even after the ticking is gone and driving down the highway.

During cruising at 70mph on the interstate, vehicle started making some noise from the engine and 5 miles later locked up completely leaving me stranded. This is a known issue with the 5. 0 cummins. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk through the vehicle being disabled on the side of the highway all of the sudden during rush hour traffic. Problem was confirmed at a dealer. No warning lamps or messages prior to complete engine failure, just some slight noise from the engine a few minutes before.
While driving on interstate 20 at a 75 mph speed in traffic, the truck began a loud knocking noise and the engine shut down. After fighting the dead truck off the roadway from the highway speeds and avoiding traffic, I was able to get the truck safely stopped. Upon attempting to restart the engine, the starter caught on fire. I was able to get the fire extinguished with minimal damage. The truck was towed by a wrecker to my home. I replaced the starter and inspected the wiring harness for fire damages. The truck did restart after sitting for several days, and the knock which was heard on the roadway the day of the failure was excessive. After other checks and inspections, the crankshaft was found to be broken in half causing loud knocking. This is a catastrophic failure with a monetary replacement of approximately $20,000-$30,000.

Crankshaft failure.
Engine/crankshaft/main bearing excessive noise, metal shavings in oil. Crank shaft cracked or broken. Similar to NHTSA pe23-020.
Perfectly maintained vehicle, 68,000 mikes on the Nissan Titan xd diesel- stock - drove it to work, then swapped with my son so he could barrow the truck as his was getting serviced- he owns a lawncare company, he calls stating the truck lost power, started vibrating, and started banging while towing his equipment. No lights. We use a banks data monster- checked for codes, nothing, all temps normal - I monitor egr, engine, exhaust, and several others - all normal. Parked it - appears to be a broken crank. Just changed the oil the day prior. Been changing oil for 30+ years - always triple check levels - all correct. Use shells best t6 fully synthetic, fleet guard filter and change every 6-7k.
Spun rod bearing/broken crank shaft - major vibration, loss off power, dangerous.
Traveling 65mph down the highway, engine started shaking extremely bad and smoke pouring from the exhaust.
The crankshaft snapped and locked up the motor. My safety was at risk as well as oncoming traffic because it could have caused an accident when locking up the motor. It has been confirmed by a local diesel mechanic. There was no warning at all, I was driving down the highway at 75 and as I started to go up an incline the truck had to downshift and it started to knock loud and then froze up and the truck came to a fast stop.
Engines blown. Needs new engine.
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The VIN was not available.
The bearing left go in the block causing crankshaft problems.
Driving down the road, truck lost all power and shut down, towed to the local Nissan dealership, needs a new engine, truck has 89k miles on it.
Oil doesn’t get to the 7th cylinder causing unrepairable damage. It’s a known issue by Nissan.
My turbo actuator went out in 2022, paid $2,000 to get it fixed. A year later in 2023 it went out again and ruined both the low and high turbos, had to get them replaced again this time under warranty but Nissan of dearborn in dearborn, michigan had my truck for 87 days before I got it back. They tried to tell me I needed a whole new engine block. I’m scared because if this happens again who is going to be held liable for it, me? not to mention the damage it’s most likely caused on the engine block and crankshaft. The last thing I want is for that to break as I’m going down the highway.
Driving down the interstate on cruise control at 75mph and the crankshaft snapped.
Pulled up to a stop light my truck turned off had got towed back and turner the truck on and the engine had rod nock and is over heating and not running smooth.
Loss of motive power due to broken crankshaft with no ability to restart.
The crankshaft broke. The truck was operating normally and is regularly driven. A loud banging noise was heard and the truck lost power while running. Smoke came from the tailpipe and the check engine light came on. The truck was operating normally until this incident. If this had occurred on the interstate it would have posed a significant safety risk to the occupants and other vehicles.
The crank shaft broke.
I stopped to get diesel and pulled onto the interstate. Within 2 miles of being on the interstate, the engine felt as though it downshifted, lost power, and stalled in a construction one lane zone with no way to get out of traffic. The engine would no longer turn over and the truck would not start. This was a danger, not only to me, but to other drivers on the interstate. Had taken 90 miles away to a certified diesel Nissan dealership who said all of the fluids were good and the motor was locked solid. It was not covered by warranty ans was estimated to cost $32,000. 00 to replace motor.

I have owned this vehicle since day one. . . This was meticulously maintained and serviced regularly. While sitting at an idle, with no prior warning, the vehicle just stopped running. After having diagnosed by a reputable diesel mechanic near me, it was determined that the cp4 fuel pump, known to be faulty in these and other trucks as well had failed. After extensive examination, it resulting in a catastrophic failure of the fuel system, ultimately requiring a $14, 000+ repair. (unrealistic cost due to the current value of the truck being around $10k - $14k. Metal chards had been distributed all throughout the entire fuel system. This failure is unfortunately very common and Nissan or cummins should be held accountable for this issue.
Driving down the highway and the truck shut off. Pulled over and the engine will not crank. Suspect the engine is locked as the starter tries to turn over the engine but just starts to smoke due to engine not moving.
The vehicle is available for inspection immediately by all parties. While driving down the highway, the truck started a vibration, without any warning indicators. The vehicle was taken to the next travel center truck shop. The writer acknowledged the vibration like a misfire, but no codes were present. He recommended another shop or dealer. A detour was made to the nearest Nissan dealership. On the way, the truck stumbled with a violent vibration and shut down on the road without warning lights. There was a complete loss of power from the engine on the highway, giving way to the risk of being hit by other motorists and blocking traffic. Since the engine shut down, there was also a loss of power steering, giving high risk to the possibility of an accident. The truck was unable to restart. The vehicle shut down in the middle of the desert, exposing my family to unsafe environmental conditions. The truck was towed the remaining way to the dealer. The next business day, the technician got the truck started and verified the concern. The tech requested additional time for teardown which was approved to remove the oil pan for inspection. I was quoted over $37,000 to repair “catastrophic engine failure. ” there were metal shavings found in the oil pan “the size of a computer mouse” from somewhere on the crankshaft. The dealer found that the check engine light came on during service but did not provide the codes. Nissan refuses to assist with repair due to warranty time and secondhand ownership. Nissan was offered to inspect the vehicle but has declined.
Without warning I had a loss of power while driving followed moments later by the engine completely shutting down and failure to restart causing vehicle to stop in the middle of the road because I had no power steering or breaking. Using an obd2 scanner I was able to recover the following code "p0087 fuel rail pressure/system -too low bank ". Upon trying to restart the vehicle to no avail it gave this code "p00c6 fuel rail pressure too low - engine cranking bank 1". Using an auto agent ez lynk I was able to see the fuel pump was putting out 125psi but the injector pump has a desired output 4. 5kpsi but was only putting out 0. 3kpsi and wouldn't increase pressure during cranking. After talking to my local Nissan dealership service department I was told it appeared that either the injector pump or the motor had failed. The oil and filter was change on may 28 2024 and fuel filters were changed on April 10 2024. And has always been changed at orr Nissan in searcy arkansas. If this had happened as I was going down a major highway or interstate it could have resulted in a major accident with possible injury or death due to the loss of steering.
Went to pull out onto main road and the truck refused to accelerate instead it started to miss and lose power then the check engine light came on and the reduce engine power warning was displayed. Shortly after that the truck died and will not start. A scan of the engine codes reveled a p0087 fuel rail/system pressure too low bank 1 code. It appears that the bosch cp4 fuel injector pump failed. Right before the engine died there was loud noises coming from the drivers side of the truck which sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment.
Engine locked up driving down the road. Broke crank driving 65 miles a hour.
I heard an audible rattling sound at certain rpms primarily underload. Upon looking under the vehicle found the issue was the result of the exhaust hangars not being torqued properly and coming loose. The exhaust hanger just behind the transmission had loosened so much that one bolt fell out entirely. Picture provided notice one bolt missing.

I was driving down the interstate and my crankshaft broke. It happened suddenly and I lost all power and luckily no one ran into the back of me as I slowed down and made my way to the shoulder. There I sat for 2 hrs waiting for the tow truck. There were no signs or warning lights prior to the engine loosing all power. Nissan inspected and has confirmed it is a broken camshaft and will not warranty it.
While driving my 2016 Nissan Titan xd cummins (86,000 miles) on the highway, the engine started making a loud clacking noise, followed by a loud breaking or displacement sound. The check engine light did not come on, and the truck did not go into limp mode. Possible issues might be crankshaft or bearing failure, piston or connecting rod damage, or a valve train problem. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no prior warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before this failure. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer or service center.
Broken crank in engine.
