1 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/12/2020

Engine loses power, slows down to a creeping 5-10 mph during peak hour traffic or turns-off completely. Instrument panel reads exhaust filter overload/reduced speed. Afterward, vehicle will not start at times or will start but resumes 5-10 mph speed of travel. Had manual reset performed; only 44 miles later to have same engine trouble beset the vehicle again.

2 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/13/2020

There are diesel exhaust fumes coming into the cab while the vehicle is running. There is no difference whether the air conditioning is on recycled, fresh, or if it is off completely. The smell is overwhelming and does not go away even with the window being rolled down. The fumes also come into the cab whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion. The fumes do not increase nor decrease depending on the speed you are driving. The fumes are constantly there, at the same smell.

3 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/19/2019

Bought truck new in 6/2018 . Truck is new 2017 leftover Nissan Titan diesel xd with 16,000 miles to date. When truck goes into regen to clean diesel particulate heavy diesel exhaust fumes fill the cabin so bad you have to roll the windows down. It causes my stomach to become upset and dizzy tired feeling and later a very bad headache. Have had coworkers experience the same issue while in the vehicle. Has been replicated at the dealer and service tech and service manager are out of ideas on how to fix this but confirm the issue exist. Dealer service manager has read about this but never has heard of a fix through Nissan. Nissan is sending in and engineer to look at the issue but comment made from service manager is he has heard about the situation through Nissan network but never has heard of a fix for it. Truck is still in warranty but not worth continuing to be sick or possibly pass out from it. Please be very aware of this issue and report any exhaust diesel smell to your dealer and elevate it. This is an extremely dangerous health and safety hazard. You should not smell any exhaust or diesel fumes in a vehicle. Hoping this site takes note of the many other folks on forums mentioning it and elevate it to Nissan. Hoping Nissan fixes or gives me my money back as the truck makes me feel sick.

7 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/06/2018

Our 2016 Nissan Titan xd was idling on a level carport with the parking brake engaged. No one was in the cab of the truck. I was unloading tools from the back of the truck. After about 5-7 minutes, while I was standing in the bed of the truck, the engine revved and the truck began to roll very slowly backwards. It rolled over a small concrete bump (intended to prevent cars from rolling off the carport), down about a 6 inch step down, across another 10 feet or so of concrete and into the brick wall at the back of the carport. I did not have time to safely jump down, open the truck door and engage the brake. The total distance the truck rolled was less than 10 yards. The tailgate of the truck was damaged badly when it hit the brick wall, but it helped to stop the truck. When I got into the truck to drive it back up onto the parking area of the carport, the parking brake was still engaged. I disengaged it to shift into drive. We have had issues in the past with the engine revving and extremely hard shifting between gears. There is also a heavy smell of exhaust inside the cab of the truck very often. The smell is strong enough to cause headaches. We usually have to crack the window when this happens. It happens intermittently, but often. I am not sure if what happened today was a brake problem, engine problem or transmission problem, but this is an extremely concerning safety issue.

13 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/19/2016

Very soon after I purchased the Titan truck, randomly, while the car sits idle or while driving the truck anywhere (I. E. On city streets, on the highway, in my neighborhood) the truck produces a strong scent of diesel mixture/exhaust fumes in the cabin of the truck. The fumes are so strong it makes me dizzy. The diesel fumes/exhaust smell in the cabin when the def cycle is on as well. I've taken it to a Nissan dealership at least four times to no avail at repairing it. I bought this truck as a new car.

14 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

Upon purchasing this vehicle new from the dealer, a strong diesel exhaust odor was noted within the cab of the truck. After bringing the vehicle back to the dealer with the complaint, I was told that the vehicle simply needed a software update. After receiving the vehicle back from the dealer, and having the software update performed, the vehicle still produced strong diesel exhaust odor within the cab of the truck. Since that first attempt to rectify the issue, I have brought the vehicle back to the dealer on multiple occasions (4+ times). No dealer has been able to resolve the issue and get rid of the diesel exhaust odor within the cab of the truck. Finally, I lodged a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs. I have been working within them for over 2 months now, but they are little help. They keep delaying additional expertise on the issue and have denied my claim for a "buyback", asking now that I replicate the issue with a 3rd Nissan dealer. I have little confidence in their ability and/or willingness to resolve this issue. In the meantime, I am driving the vehicle and potentially breathing in unsafe levels of carbon monoxide (or other toxic gases associated with the strong diesel exhaust odor continuing to be released into the cab of the truck). At one point last week, I had to stop driving the truck entirely, as the headaches associated with driving the vehicle did not warrant continuing to use the vehicle for regular transportation. The diesel exhaust odor is very strong upon cold start-up and continues to be emitted while the vehicle is being driven (albeit not as strong as upon start up). Regardless, the odor is prevalent within the vehicle and I believe that driving the vehicle introduces a significant health risk to both the driver and any passengers.

20 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 10/26/2012

While driving my truck home from work,I noticed the sound of the exhaust became progressively louder. I parked the truck for the night. Prior to leaving the next morning I tried to locate the source of the increased noise. However, I noticed after starting the vehicle the noised would decrease. Therefore, I took the truck to my mechanic for diagnosis. He told me that the header on one side is cracked and the other header on the other-side shows signs of stress. Also, he explained this a common issue with the Nissan Titan and I might want to explore my repair option with the local Nissan dealership. However, after discussing this issue with the Nissan dealership, I was told there is no recall for the notorious issue and the cost of the repair is my responsibility. Upon hearing this, I decide I would lodge my complaint about this issue here.

23 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/25/2011

Poorly constructed exhaust manifold(s) equipped in 2004-2007 Nissan Titans crack under normal driving conditions. Nearly all Titans on the road (up until about 2008) are effected by this manufacturing defect. 2008+ Titans are said to be equipped with stronger manifolds, but those crack as well. This crack, if not taken care of, may throw error codes which will cause the engine to lean out and possibly destroy the catalytic converter. Aside from possible engine malfunction due to this crack, exhaust gasses to not properly exhaust out the rear of the vehicle and subsequently exit the manifolds within the engine bay and enter into the passenger cabin. As the exhaust manifolds are attached to the catalytic converters, they can be replaced by the 8y/80k mile federal emissions warranty. However, many dealers will not look at the manifolds to diagnose the issue until after this point. Replacing the manifolds using oem products is quite costly.

24 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/09/2011

Catalytic converter failure many Nissan Titans are experiencing premature catalytic converter failure. Some failures are causing the engine to seize, as particles of the core of sucked up into the engine. This has caused failures while driving, and as of yet has not caused any crashes or fires. I believe it is an issue that needs to be addressed. There are are large number of failures before 80,000 miles, and a large number of failures right after 80,000 miles which leaves it up to the consumer to pay $1700+ to have the repair done. Nissan is saying it's not an issue, but internet reports of the failures would say otherwise. Please look into this issue. Thanks.

25 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 04/28/2011

2006 Nissan Titan se king cab 4x4 offroad bigtow. The exhaust manifolds on my Titan cracked and 3 separate Nissan dealerships in southern California wouldn't acknowledge the issue and repair under warranty. The service managers would claim that they did not or could not find the problem. These parts are covered under the 8 yr/80,000 mile long-term emission system defects warranty and my truck currently has 69,xxx miles. The 3 visits to the different dealerships span from when I got the truck in 2009 to 2011. On my own dime, I had a shop replace the exhaust manifolds and they confirmed both were cracked. I have them sitting in my garage for further proof. I'm considering making a claim w/ Nissan hq but I know it'll be in vain. There are several reports of cracked manifolds online. Maybe this warrants a recall or Nissan can press their dealers to handle this in a more professional manner.

28 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/11/2011

About two years ago I started hearing a ticking noise on my 2005 Nissan Titan pu at start up. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was until Nissan sent me an owner notification card about cracks in the exhaust manifolds. Then it dawned on me what that ticking noise was when cold start up took place. I had the vehicle recently in the shop for 2 other recalls and mentioned this along with the notice I received about this problem from Nissan. The service manager said they would look into it but was concerned because I had 83,400 miles on the truck and warranty issues only would fix this up to 80,000 miles. I haven't ever had a exhaust crack on any vehicle that I have owned since 1972 and had some of these vehicle to upward of 250,000 miles. Why won't Nissan do something about this to fix this issue because it looks like it is all of them that crack. Seems to me for safety issues and exhaust fumes that should be routed to the rear of the vehicle are now being pushed into the engine compartment and not even getting to the catalytic converter. I'm very disappointed in Nissan for the absence of help in this issue and a serious one at that. This should be a recall and of all the watchdog areas of our life where is the epa on this one.

29 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

2004 Nissan Titan - know issue with exhaust manifolds that leak. This leak or crack in the exhaust manifold causes the engine computer to run full rich all the time. This creates an unsafe condition inside the cab of the vehicle with noxious exhaust fumes and health concerns. Not to mention the fuel mileage is almost cut in half as I have calculated. My truck will be on it's third set of manifolds. The first two sets of repacements were covered under the federal emissions warrant up to 80k miles but that has expired at this point. Nissan is aware of this issue and from information I have gathered the have updated the design of the manifolds. I might add that the catatytic converters are directly connected to these manifolds. I cannot stress enough the safety concerns with exhaust fumes constantly entering inside ths cab - I drive to work with headaches and nausea and burning eyes every day!.

30 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/16/2010

My exhaust manifold/ cat has failed. There is a crack in my exhaust manifold and over warranty 15k. I have notice mpg loss and gases entering my cabin when I'm at a stop light and my window is down. I'm a father of 3 and worried for my children safety. Passenger is cracked and worried that the drivers is going to go soon. The dealership will not cover under warranty. This will cost me 600 per side + 600 for labor which brings the total to 1800+tax. I'm apart of a Nissan club/forum and this is a problem numerous people are having, 50+ in California. Some people have to go aftermarket or even pass it illegally through black market channels. Nissan is well aware of this problem and released a revised version which still have the same problem. Nissan is robbing their customers and need to be brought to justice. They should be responsible under the emissions law and for putting out a known faulty part. I don't know what to do I have many friends in other states that are on their 2nd set or going on their 3rd set. This should be addressed for the safety of people and the earth [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

31 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/10/2010

Exhaust manifolds in Nissan Titans around the year of '04 are cracking when the shouldn't be with just mild wear and tear on the car. Dealers are saying its not a dangerous problem so they cant recall it but with a cracked exhaust manifold CO can and often does leak into the cabin.

32 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/08/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While the vehicle was being inspected by the dealer he was informed that the vehicle had a cracked exhaust manifold. The failure mileage was 69,000 and the current mileage was 69,323.

33 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/29/2010

Exhaust manifold leaking for the second time. Bank 1 side was bad before the 80 emissions warranty was up, however dealership wouldn't do it, so we purchased another oem manifold/cat and had another shop replace it. Now 2 years later that side has failed and is leaking again. The catalytic converter has failed on that side also. Nissan has not offered a recall. Exhaust manifold leaking allows exhaust fumes to not be vented correctly and the fumes can come into the cabin of the vehicle. I have spoken with the dealership and it should be noted I'm out of the 80 k emissions warranty. The oem equipment is not up to par.

34 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/21/2010

2004 Nissan Titan exhaust manifold cracked. Both sides, causing exhaust fumes into the cabin of the vehicle. Nissan refusing to settle the claim due to vehicle being over warranty mileage of 8/80k. Step up and make this a recall for Nissan!!!.
