About a week ago my car started leaking oil, I brought it into the mechanics and was told it was the head gasket, it should not be leaking oil, there must be a defect, there should be a recall because it looks like there is a lot more people with this problem, I want something done about this fast, because shouldn't have to pay a $1000 to get it fixed when it is daimler Chrysler fault.
Severe oil leak in my mom's 1998 Plymouth Breeze with less than 60,000 miles on it is causing me concern. This oil leak is caused by a bad head gasket. The oil is leaking all over the bottom of the car. I am concerned that the oil will get on the catalytic converter and cause a fire. I understand from conversations with several different mechanics and people in the automobile industry that this is a common problem with Chrysler engines. I have already contacted Chrysler about this problem and they have informed me that it's not their fault and there is nothing they can do about it. Other reputable car manufactures fix problems like this. Why isn't Chrysler being required to fix this problem before someone gets hurt???.
Headgasket and cam seal failure on my 1998 Plymouth Breeze which caused oil leak and led to my having to replace both to stop oil leak. Car had 44591 miles on it at the time. Replaced both headgasket and cam seal.
The vehicle leaked oil through the head gasket. The manufacturer stated there was no recall and offered no assistance.
Multiple oil leaks and brake problems. Bought car with 14,000 miles, replaced front brakes and rotors at 19,000 miles, replaced cam seals at 32,000 miles, had new brakes again at 39,000 miles, and now at 49,500 having spark plug seals replaced. All major engine work done at newburgh park motors, newburgh NY. This car has cost me more in maintenance than my crappy 1979 GMC pick-up with a billion miles on it! the dealer just shrugs it off and says this is typical and it is the customer's responsibility. I say shame on Chrysler for manufacturing a sub-standard product and not standing behind it! you cowards!!!!!.

The head gasket was really the problem that I have the biggest beef about. I have had an oil leak since at least August 2002 and the mechanic that I've been taking my car to has replaced the oil pressure switch twice and most recently the cam shaft switch. At the last repair, he indicated that I had a torn head gasket, a very common problem with my model of car. I made an appointment with the local Chrysler dealer and then contacted Chrysler about some monetary assistance with this repair. Chrysler confirmed the problem with the dealer and then did nothing for two days until I called back and found out that the decision rested in the regional manager's hands who was out of town on vacation for 4 more days. I contacted Chrysler again and escallated the decision through a few levels of management and found that my request had been denied due to the age of the car and its mileage. This irritates me for several reasons. Head gaskets are supposed to have a much longer life span that 72k miles. This is a well documented defect with the car I have and I feel that a recall is in order. From what I've read on the internet, many Breeze/neon owners have had success convincing Chrysler to pay for some of the repair. I brought my car in on Tuesday night and it wasn't until the end of the day on Thursday that Chrysler made their decision. In the meantime, the mechanic did not repair the problem because he was waiting on the response from Chrysler. Hence, I was out of the use of my car an additional two days. Additionally, I've already incurred about $400 in expenses most likely related to this head gasket from previous repairs to my oil leak problem. It's a shame all this happened because I was pretty pleased with the car up until I discovered this problem.
The faulty head gasket caused the engine to leak oil continuously.
Around October or November 2002, at about 65,000 miles or 98 Plymouth Breeze started leaking oil, small spots or drops, then gradually more, took it in to get it checked, the mechanic looked for the origination of the oil leak and found it to be leaking from a head gasket and recommended we not drive our car only when necessary and very short trips, constantly check te oil level every day, and get reparied as soon as possible , could also be a fire hazard if oil builds up on engine from the leaking. He also metnioned he has seen alot of other Breezes, neons, stratus, voyagers, with the same engine as ours and the neons, and stratus with the same problem, and told us that the manufactuer stop using the gasket that was on the 98 models and replaced it it the new multi-layer steel head gasket because they knew it was defective back n 97-98 when they begin using it on the car made at that time. I guess it saved them a couple of bucks on the cars. I think there will be a class action lawsuit from what I have read on the internet about the neons, Breezes etc. I think a recall is in order. We stopped driving our car and have waited to have it repaired because it cost so much.

Vehicle leaking oil while driving. Vehicle taken to the dealer and they informed consumer of a blown head gasket.
February 2000, 60,000 miles on vehicle. Started leaking oil at about 55,000, kept putting oil in it and fixed the seals. Didnt take care of the problem. Took it to dealer that I bought it from, they admitted a problem with the make of car. They wanted $800. 00 to fix it. After complaining enough we paid only 300. 00. Now June of 2001. 1 year and 4 months, and 30,000 miles later, it is leaking again. Started three weeks ago, and now it is leaking a lot just like before. I will be calling the dealership in the morning. And I will be throwing a fit till its paid for then im getting rid of the car. There needs to be something done about this. People can't afford dishing out this type of money for something that is cryslers fault that they are hiding behind. Please help.
My head gasket is cracked and leaking oil. According to the Plymouth message board on the internet and many others, this is a very common problem. This needs to be addressed and remedied. Too many people are experiencing the same problem for this to be "accidental". There needs to be a recall. Thank you.

Oil leak - 1999 - car (1997 Breeze) still under warranty at the time. Dealer repaired car by replacing head gasket and cam seals. Three weeks later, oil still leaking and returned to same dealer, who again fixed car. About a year later during oil change was told car was still leaking, but out of warranty now. I've been told by mechanics (even at dealerships) that this is a known problem but no recalls, Plymouth just continued to have this problem repaired at owner's expense.
Oil pan design defect caused initial report . . See odi 701385. . Reported Nov 1998 when oil pan wore thru and developed slow oil leak and oil pressure warning light failed resulting in engine seizingnecesitating rebuild at aprx $3700. . At 5114 miles later(52900) while on hoist, owner checked pan and found that the pan has again worn almost through from road abrasions during just normal operation with occasional dragging on speed bumbs ,driveway inclines ,road gutters on drive in etc. If continues to wear at current rate expect failure on the new replacement pan in 2500-5000 miles. This pan area immediately below oil drain plug is totally unprotected and is 1st area of impact when car dips for any reason enough to make contact with road. It according to the mechanic at northglenn Dodge when showed to him on hoist and ask. . Is a common problem with the Breeze and seen alot. I intend to pursue problem directly with Plymouth factory. Airbags failed @ 35mph in accident when Breeze rearended a 1964 chev carrall foldi.
