My Plymouth Breeze completely shut down as I was driving it. My daughter was in the car with me and we both could have gotten seriously hurt. Also, I just spent $700 on a blown head gasket. Something really needs to be done about these vehicles.
: the contact stated an excessive amount of oil was noticed on the garage floor. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer, who determined the upper head gasket needed to be replaced. An independent mechanic was also consulted and informed the contact there had been several Chrysler vehicles, with same problem, in the shop for repair. The vehicle had been maintained on a regular basis. Updated 4/11/2006 - the consumer contacted the manufacturer but they refused to provide any assistance.

Head gasket on my 1998 Plymouth Breeze. Nearly every consumer report I have read has shown that this is a consistent problem with anyone who has onwed this this car yet there is no recall. Why?.
99 Plymouth Breeze at 70,000 miles. The mechanic determined that a new head gasket is needed.
Oil pan is defective. Spoke to precision care, my local branch, he says his company has warned their own technicians that the bolts that hold the pan wear out much earlier than on other cars. It should be recalled. This a Plymouth Breeze.
Good evening, I wanted to obtain more information about the class action suit against Chrysler. I have a 97 Plymouth Breeze that has had a head and a transmission replaced at 2 separate times. The head was replaced because of head gasket and the transmission after if overheated on highway use (5, 2003), got stuck 200+ miles away from home. Finally I sent my last payment last month but to my surprise my transmission is acting up again and the only services I get from the shop is for my to drive to them (200 miles away). Other issues brakes do not last and suspension is on the fritz. . Thank you daniel rodriguez rbdaniel@bellsouth. Net miami, FL.
Ltr fwd fm m. Balwin/NHTSA region x fm laura feinstein(wa) re the defective head gasket. Torn head gasket caused fuel to leak out on to the ground.

Head gasket is cracked. Dealer notified.
I own a 1998 Plymouth Breeze. My head gasket is bad, and everyone: the local dealer repair shop and independent mechanics all say that it was a bad design in the gasket metal type. They have seen many of these come through their shops, and none are caused by owner neglect. If it is a deign error, why do I have to pay $600 to get it fixed? should design design problems be covered under a recall?.
We had to replace the head and gasket on our car April of 2001. I called Chrysler and they paid for the part. Now we have to replace the head and gasket that was placed on in 2001 with a new head and gasket again.
Been driving for 53 years and this is the first head gasket I ever had that failed. All service people I talk to recognize this as a prevalent breese/neon problem. Nhtsa searches show 1996 1988 Dodge neon failures, 39 Plymouth neon failures & 20 Plymouth Breeze failures. I can't believe the mfg. Hasn't taken any action. Have they? cost = $800!!!!!.
Radio expired before warranty July 2000--no replacement by Chrysler transmission sensors at 52,000 April 2001-- no replacement or help of any kind from Chrysler, head gasket now at 76,000, January 2003 no help or replacement from Chrysler, was told not their problem since warranty expired.
While driving about 60 mph engine started losing power. Engine had a leakage. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said that vehicle had a blown head gasket. Please provide more information.
Head gasket defect. Seems to be a common problem to all models talking to the dealerships and independent repair shops.
Blown head gasket. $900. 00 to repair. No satisfaction from the dealer or the manufacturer. I was told this happens to all cars. But I doubt it happens to "all cars" with only 37,000 miles!.
Head gasket on this car have been replaced 3 times, this has to be a defect as I see alot of other people have had the same problem.
Consumer states while driving vehicle,it will just start hesitating to accelerate, had vehicle towed, dealership replaced transmission, problem reaccured, ow they are replacing the head gasket. Nlm.
The head gasket and cam seal have been replaced numerous times. Other problems include steering, tire wear, brake wear .
It's unbelievable that a 4 year old car would have the head gasket go out. Luckily, the dealer was able to fix it without the need for a new engine. But it still cost $1051 to have the car fixed. I've heard that other Breezes have had the same problem. I am very unhappy about the whole thing.

Mechanic saidthat car was taken to says that this problem is very common in this model of vehicle and thought that there was already a recall for this part due to the high number of replacements that he has done in the past on original head gaskets.
Head gasket broke on Plymouth Breeze.
I have been having problems with oil dripping from my 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I took it to my mechanic, who told me that the problem was a bad head gasket. I was told by him that Plymouth was have a problem with that vehicle and that should be a recall item. I contacted Chrysler about my problem and they advised that it wasn't a recalled problem, and it never will be. For them to fix it ,it will cost upwards of 2,000 dollars. I have tried to reason with them, but couldn't get anywhere with them. The problem is very messy for my driveway, and probably a safety concern the more I drive it on the road. I hope NHTSA puts our concerns to the forfront and gets Chrysler to address our situation and finally put the problem on the recall list. As a fan of the chrsyler product and buyer, I hope that something can be done. Frank cortez.
We hav ehad numerous problems with our vehicle. We have had starters, transmission modules, fuel pumps, head gaskets, and a leak detection pump replaced so far. All Chrysler can say about this is that your out of luck. The dealership threatened to use force to beat me up (pat terhar teh gm at the dealership) all I want is Chrysler to take responsibility for the number of problems I have had, instead they keep changing me hundreds of dollars for repairs. My understanding is that there are numerous cars with similar problems as I have had. Please investigate. I am running out of steam. Thanks!)( dot number: ).
Past hx:air condioning compressor/rackinpinion steering/head gasket and fuel pump malfunctioned.
Head gask. Repl. 3x in 3 years. A class action suit is in order. No satisfaction from Chrysler corp. Head gasket #4 is being put on now.
Head gasket was poorly design resulting in leakage.
Head gasket started to leak but dealer wanted $1500 to fix. Now it is leaking very bad.
Replaced engine head gasket, was informed that this is common on vehicles with aluminum heads and cast iron blocks. Vehicle does not even have 20,000 miles on it. This will probably happen again and again, was told by service tech that there is no guarantee because of the materials used.
2 head gaskets changed rusting inside of car seat brackets.
