Our 1997 Voyager had to have transmission replaced at 43000 miles. We contacted the dealer and the manufacturer about the problem and we were told that it was out of warranty. We had regular maintenance done at a national oil franchise. In order to get our van back on the road, we had to pay Chrysler $700 for labor. We have since found out through other web sites about secret recalls pertaining to Chrysler transmission problems. Had we known about this recall, we would have fought them to the end! we feel we are entitled to a refund of our $700 and Chrysler should go "public" with these recalls! thank you for your assistance in this matter. Sincerely matt vogelpohl, sr.

I am writing to please find if there are any other complaints on Chrysler products regarding bad transmissions. I just feel that it is not right to replace a transmission in a 3 year old vehicle. I have two mechanics, one of whom worked for Chrysler as a mechanic, who swears Chrysler simply has bad transmissions. Thank you for your time.

Complaint #7857854 filed with us chryslercustomer center (800)992-1997 on 9/16/00.
Steel pin inside transmission loosened and rotated inside trans case and blew a hole 3 x 6 inches in the trans case losing all fluid and locking the trans up. Call to Chrysler dealer confirmed that it was a problem, trans shop said they were averaging 1 a month and that ours was the worst they had seen to date and that bodily injury was probable had my wife been traveling at highway speeds Chrysler wanted the trans back but said that age and mileage prevented any reinbursement which is exactly what they said when the wheel bearings failed , they were man made parts and man made parts wear out. Every dealer /trans shop I have talked tosays that the trans are good for 80000 miles inthe northeast and are prone to failure they aren't in the south because of the absence of slippery conditions. I wasn't aware that a 25000 dollar vehicle should be considered disposable after 80000 miles unless you are willing to pay 1500 dollars for a trans and 510 for wheel bearings especially since this is supposed to be the most popular vehicle in its class.
Transmission was rebuilt a year ago by the dealer because it was shuttering. It started again on the 17th of February, and they replaced the transmission again. Currently, transmission is doing the same shaking. Dealer will not look at transmission until vehicle gets upto 1500 miles. Dealer thinks it just needs to be broken in.

Also, once vehicle has come to a complete stop, it will not take off. It will move if put into 2nd gear. Dealer has over and over told the consumer it is solution.
My wife and 6 year old daughter were driving home from the dentist office, as they left town and began to accelerate the engine rpm went up but the van started slowing down. Coasted off the side of the highway, they tried to go again and nothing. Called for help and had vehicle taken to local shop for examination of problem. Van only has low gear, no others including reverse. Have heard a lot of complaints of others having trans. Problems around same milage. Trying to find more info on manufacturers replacement or repairs at less cost than the.

This van had electrical problems from the beginning. The transmission was just the final straw for us. Then to see how many other people had put multiple transmissions in their Chrysler vans. It's a crime.
Transmission failed at 41,000 miles 100's of similar @this site please recall! huge chucks of metal in pan, entire casing was damaged and had to be replaced. Vehicle showed no prior indication of failing. A search of this site has shown this is a problem with daimler-Chrysler all brands of Mini's since at least 1996, why is nothing being done to hold them accountable? in addition, the vehicle shifts into any gear from any gear without applying the brake. Is.
Their customer service agents repeatedly declined my request to talk to their supervisors, saying that it would waste their supervisors' time. I talked with more than 10 agents. They told "you can sue us if you want to. " everyone of them said they did not know their ceo, mr. Rober eaton's phone. A car with only 1530 miles broke down in the middle of highway. Chrysler really put my fimily's life in danger. The quality and safety of thier product should be seriously questioned!.
