1 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1997 Plymouth Voyager

Failure Date: 01/14/2006

My wife was driving our 1997 Voyager up a gravel driveway about 5-10 mph. Both the driver side and passenger side air bags inadvertently deployed. There was no collision of any kind. My wife and daughter both suffered bruising and facial abrasions from the air bags. It is not covered by insurance stating it is a mechanical failure. I feel this is very dangerous and should covered by Chrysler for all parts and service.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1998 Plymouth Voyager

Failure Date: 03/26/2004

Driver side and passenger side air bags deployed while vehicle was in motion. There was no crash, no pothole, no bump on the road, nothing to triggger the airbag to go off. As a result I suffered a burn mark to my chin and neck and brusing on my chest and forearm. Passenger was also hit I face no visible marks and children were terribly shaken.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1998 Plymouth Voyager

Failure Date: 04/20/2003

I own a 1998 Plymouth Voyager minivan (VIN #2p4gp4436wr729216) and have experienced a clockspring failure which resulted in my driver's side airbag, horn and cruise controll not working. Even though there is a current recall for this problem on this model year vehicle, the manufacturer stated I was not covered since the build date was two days after the end of the covered period. This seems very unreasonable to me and indicates that maybe the recall was too narrow.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1998 Plymouth Voyager

Failure Date: 05/29/2000

Was driving at 45mph. Saw an object on the road (looked like tire/wheel), but didn't have enough time to avoid the obstacle. My van ran over the obstacle, and hit the undercarriage of the vehicle. We did not feel any impact at all. After driving over the obstacle, both the driver and passenger side air bags deployed. Contacted Chrysler. They sent a special investigator to check the vehicle. After 1 month, received a letter from Chrysler declining any manufacturing responsibility in this matter. I would appreciate any assistance you could provide. Thanks.

8 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1996 Plymouth Voyager

Failure Date: 05/21/1996

5/21/96, my son and I were impacted at left front of our 1996 ply Voyager van by a 1987 Chrysler. When I applied the brakes, they locked up, we slid slighthly to the right side -- the force from the impact was enough to shatter the transmission housing, the starter, damage the rack and pinion steering, and crumpled the front end in such a way that the passenger door could not be opened. The shoulder harnesses locked up, but neither air bag deployed. The car was alegedly looked at by Chrysler engineers and it was determined that "the sensor had not been hit". . . My son and I both sustained permanent injuries as a result of this accident. My question, with this speed, and this front end damage, why did the bags not deploy? I don't buy not hitting the sensor. I've read report after report identifying the sensor as deploying at 8mph. . . This accident was serious. Law enforcement at the scene said 5mph faster and there would have been a fatality. ( dot number: ).

9 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1997 Plymouth Voyager

While driving 12 mph driver's side and passenger's side air bags suddenly deployed without a collision occurring, cause unknown. Please give any further details.

10 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1996 Plymouth Voyager

Air bag light came on over 18 mos ago and I was told it was a computer chip and was not a defect. It will cost over $500 to repair according to the dealer. I was also told that the driver airbag may or may not deploy in a collision, they did not know.
