The contact owns a 1998 Plymouth Voyager which was purchased in 2000. He received a recall letter from Chrysler and did not have any failures on the vehicle at that time. Nhtsa campaign id number: 02v293000, air bags frontal. After the contact received the letter, the airbag warning light illuminated on the warning panel and the horn failed to operate normally. I own a 1999 Chrysler Plymouth Voyager minivan that appears to suffer from a defective clockspring. The horn and cruise control do not work. The airbag warning light stays lit as well. The VIN is 2p4fp25b1xr356299. The appropriate NHTSA odi# is ea 04-013.

When driving at any speed air bag warning light appeared. Consumer also heard rubbing, whistling noise when turning steering wheel. Dealer said that vehicle is ok to drive. Took vehicle to dealer regarding the air bag warning light, it was found out that clockspring was shorted. Clockspring was replaced by dealer. Consumer called daimlerchrysler and was told that there's no recall on clockspring on the vehicle.
While driving the air bag warning light illuminated on the dashboard intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the problem still occurs. Please provide any additional information.
The problem is that the air bag warning light stays on, horn cannot work, and lose the cruise control. This indicates the malfunction in air bag system, horn circuit, and the speed control.

On the morning of sept 28, 2001, I started my '97 Plymouth Voyager to begin a vacation trip. After a few minutes with the engine running, I noticed that the air bag warning light stayed illuminated. During the trip, I also discovered that neither the horn nor the cruise control worked. These symptoms appear similar to recall #01v153000. .

The dashboard airbag warning light began to stay on continually. Under warranty, in March of 2000, the dealer replaced both the airbag and the clockspring assembly. The problem appeared to be fixed. However, I began noting several months ago that the airbag warning light will come on at random times. I spoke to the dealer's service rep and I was told that the clockspring was again defective. I have learned that Chrysler has replaced some 124,000 of these at customer cost. This is a definite safety issue and Chrysler needs to do a recall ASAP. Don't let them stall for years as you let them do with the engine fire recall. I just had that done, some 2 and a half years after the problem was apparent.
The windshield wipers wouldn't work. An electronic computer was replaced. Then the red "air bag" warning light would come on and stay lit. The severity and increases with humidity and cold. Will the airbag deploy as required? I hope so. Thank you for you help. Has anyone else had similiar troubles?.
Airbag warning light remained lit at all time. Local Chrysler dealer replaced clockspring assembly.
