Front Air Bag Sensor Control Problems of Saturn VUE

While driving I noticed the "air bag readiness" light come on. It stayed on for about 10-15 minutes until I reached my destination and turned off the engine. I turned the car back on and the light only stayed on for a short time, then went off. Later that day when driving the light came back on and stayed on again until I turned off the engine. It did this several times. I checked the owners manual and it said to take it in for diagnostics to be run. It also said that the air bag could deploy unexpectedly, or not deploy at all if in an accident. I made and appointment on 07/24/2015 and took it to a dealer. After running the computer check on it, the technician said the passenger presence sensor needed to be replaced and it was not covered by my extended warranty. The parts would have to be ordered and would take several hours to install. The cost would be approximately $1,200 or more for parts and labor. I had to take off work twice to take in for service, and lost about 8 hours of work time due to this incident. Also, the turn signal had to be replaced; it failed to turn off after making a turn, mostly to the left, but sometimes turning to the right also. I was told that neither of these should have needed to be replaced on my car with the mileage it has.

The airbag sensor light on the lower left dashboard came on permanently when driving at 30 mph. There was no passenger in the passenger seat. This vehicle was purchased new in March 2006 and has never been in an accident, nor have the air bags ever been deployed. This vehicle does not a heated seats or any heating elements for the seats. This light will not turn off and after reading all of the complaints on the NHTSA. Dot. Gov website, there are many complaints of this same nature that have been reported by other drivers of this particular model so it appears to be a common defect and not isolated. This is a serious safety issue that I believe gm should issue a recall for repair of this problem because these sensors should not fail so prematurely.

Purchased in 2011 from Toyota dealership in louisville. It had the tire sensor light on. They sent it to the shop and we were told it was a sensor malfunction over and over. Then other lights started coming on along with the sluggish feeling and an annoying rattling, rolling sound. Dealer said that this was from spark plugs???? I had an extended warranty. They wanted 100. 00 for diagnostic 500 for spark plugs. I declined. The rotarr and struts have been replaced twice. The car would often times be running with the key out of the ignition, gas gone, not to mention dangerous and bad for the car. Transmission failure starts and continues. Had a car accident in December 2013. Airbags did not activate. Dealership received over $5000. After a month they say it's finished bring me the car. I get home and the key won't come out of the ignition. They told me that they would not replace it because it was a known issue with the vehicle. The rocking and rolling sound in the struts is worse. They said that is also a known issue along with the transmission and not from the accident. They would not replace. They finally agreed to fix ignition. This vehicle is a failure! no wonder Saturn is out of business. As for the Toyota dealership and the gm dealer under progressive ins. Thieves! I took pictures of my file and have what they actually did for the 5000. How much they paid for the parts. I almost threw up. It was 300% mark up on some things. Others were charged for and not replaced. After this I lost all faith in trusting dealerships etc. I still owe on the car. I will continue to educate myself on the thievery that goes on in the vehicle industry. I pray everyday that karma will catch up with them. Don't bother contacting gm. They will act like they have no idea what you are talking about and never get back with you.

Passengeer air bag seat sensor malfunction. Seems that there are a large number of people on the Saturn blog with same issue and same symptoms.

2006 Saturn Vue passenger seat air bag sensor failed, cost is over $1000. 00 to repair. Until repaired, the air bag on passenger side does not function!.

The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated on the instrument panel. As a consequence, in a situation that warrants, the air bags may fail to deploy. The contact is aware that a serious injury could occur in the event of a crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a technician concluded that the air bag control module needed to be replaced; however, since the parts were on back order no repairs were made. The failure and current mileages were 57,632.

The front passenger seat airbag is disabled at approx. 160 lbs. Otherwise the system appears to work correctly. Over time, either the sensor or the seat structure has changed and now leaves the passenger at risk even though the passenger is clearly an adult! the auto is out of warranty and the dealer requires payment even though this is a critical safety problem.

Heard what seemed to be road noise was told by dealer it was my tires after changing tires was told it was a front end bearing and was replaced by the dealer. Two months later same noise, returned to dealer and was told the other side bearing was defective it was replaced. I still have what sounds like drive train noise but get no acknowledgement from dealer. Air bag sensor on passenger side is defective, doors are aligned so poorly that daylight can be seen through the seal. This is a 2 year old vehicle and has been well maintained. I fear that I may be jeopardizing my family's safety by driving it. Is there a lemon law or any options for me.

Airbag system sensors for 2006 Saturn Vue are failing. A light is indicating that airbags will not inflate in the event of a collision. This occurred just after my 60,000 mile warranty had expired. I was told this would not be covered by Saturn as a warranty item. I feel this is a safety issue that should be covered and replaced by general motors. The Vue currently has 88,000 miles. Passenger air bag sensor faulty. Goes on when no pressure in the seat, seat belt light flashes, turns off randomly when passenger in vehicle. Took to local Saturn dealership, they could not "duplicate" problem so did nothing. Taking back again this week to try for resolution.

The switch in the airbag module gets stuck and the horn blows continuously and when it wants to; it has failed for me at least 6 times in one day before burning out the horn. Then after a body control module was replaced (not needed) and the horn the following Tuesday the horn began to blow out of control again. I have had to disable the horn (a safety feature of a car) to keep from it blowing more.

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. He stated that the airbag warning light remained illuminated especially if the front passenger seat was damp. The dealer stated that the vehicle was designed that way. The current mileage was 24,000 and the failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. After purchasing the vehicle in July of 2007, the contact had to take the vehicle back to get a new one three hours later. When he took the vehicle to the dealer for 5,000 mile servicing, the dealer discovered a recall, informed the contact, and made the repairs. Within twenty days, the contact had to have three hybrid electrical wiring harnesses replaced, the entire vehicle was re-wired, and a new transmission was installed. All the instrument panel and air bag lights illuminated intermittently. The dealer stated that if the air bag light is illuminated, it is inoperable. On two separate occasions, the contact had to have the failures repaired again. The dealer stated that there was a new recall related to the emission, but they could not perform the repair. They recommended a shop (freemond auto) and they replaced the factory fitting for that make and model. While at a traffic light with the brake pedal depressed, the engine shut off and restarted. The vehicle rolled back while the brake pedal was still depressed. The contact is still experiencing wiring and transmission failure. The failure mileage was 4,800 and current mileage was 16,311. Passenger air bag fails to acknowledge lightweight passengers though they are over 100 pounds. Failure of about 85% of the time noted shortly after purchase. At first the Saturn dealer in gresham said they would do nothing about it, then making it clear this was not acceptable they replaced the sensor. Before long the same problem occasional occurred, now it has become over 50% of the time. Sometimes going off after driving a while, sometimes cycling off and on.

Failed vti transmission. . Started on 12/03/03 with 9199 miles. Reduced power light, car would not go when placed in gear, fix-code p0107, map sensor low circuit voltage transmission control system on 6/28/04 with n14807 miles. Wrench lit, Saturn allegedly not found on 12-02-04 with 20178 miles not properly shifting,wrench light,fixed. Dtc b2707 into shift lock transmission on 6/30/05 with 27797 miles ses light, not found. On 7/17/06 with 48664 mi. Les wont shift gears. Fix total rebuild as per Saturn extended warranty. On 11/21/06 4with 8664 miles not shifting , stopped, then went into heavy traffic. Would not go in reverse, fix ed again. On 3/10/07 with 50107 miles stopped in heavy traffic then went. Intermitently shook in heavy traffic when at operating temperatures. As per Saturn not found. Also, air bag/horn issues, on 1/31/06 with 38441 miles air bag light was on. . Saturn alledged not found on 4/10/06, and on 41040 miles again air bag li, as per Saturn dtcb1800472,,dtcb1001, replaced modual assembly. Was charged $578. 40 . After that horn was going on own , assumed was part of alarm system . Horn burned out, and Saturn wanta about $1500 to repair when there iwas a an admitted design flaw. Alarm system was verified by outside source operational, not even sure if air bag will deploy in an accident.

It started with having strange clicking in the turn signals. Then the temp light would come on and the needle would bury itself into the red portion of the dial. We noticed no smell or problems with driving the car and the radiator and coolant resevior checked out to be fine. Next came the oil light on after we had already had the oil changed. Then the air bag light would stay on longer after starting the car. Then as suddenly as things started, everything went back to normal except the turn signals. A few weeks later it began. This time with the horn getting stuck, then the service light coming on and staying on along with the oil light. Then the airbag light started staying on longer and longer. By this time it is winter and I'm hearing strange sounds from the front of the car. One day we notice the horn is no longer working and the front end sound like it's going to fall off. We're afraid to use the heater defroster too much for fear the car may over heat. I take the vehicle in for oil change and diagnotic. It was not bought at a Saturn dealer. I am told that the housing for the oil filter is broken and needs replacing. I pay for half of that. I need new links in the front. The horn works. The temp gauge is going into the red. After I explained what was going on with the gauges. It was suggested I take it to a Saturn dealer. I went to my local Saturn dealer and they replaced the front links. They diagnosed the other problems airbag steer wheel contacts collapsed - $800. 00, shorted bcm- $449. 00, horn shorted- $101. 00, fuse blown-$23. 60, not including labor. Spoke with Saturn corp, they have agreed to pay $500. 00 toward repair of airbag as long as we go to the Saturn dealer. Presently we're seeking monetary assistance from the selling dealership which has moved over 50 miles away. This case is still pending.

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the air bag light does not illuminate when a passenger is seated. She was locked in the vehicle for a short period of time. Once she restarted the vehicle, the doors unlocked. The Saturn dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The purchase date and a valid VIN were unknown. The current mileage is 12,000 and failure mileage was 1,000.

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue the passenger air bag system is to be in off position unless a person weighing 100 lbs is on the seat then it goes to the on position. My car is 3 months old with 3000 miles and while my 11 year old dtr weighing 65 lbs was in the seat for over 30 minutes the air bag went to the on position. I am unsure whether it really turned on or not and I no longer feel safe with anyone in the front seat it is currently being fixed and I am not sure of the problem is with it. But, I am extremely fortunate that I was not involved in an accident because I don't know if the air bag would have deployed and could have potentially killed or injured my daughter . I feel that this is a safety hazard and should be looked at in case it happens to someone else and their loved one is hurt.

2003 Saturn Vue hood release cable and windshield wiper motor was replaced. The rear differential was replaced (warranty). While repairing the rear differential the technician noticed that the prompt shaft center bearing was broken (warranty). There was noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The technician determined that the transaxle. The technician updated the tcm and added cvt additive (warranty). The check engine light illuminated on the dash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the oxygen sensor was faulty (warranty). The air bag and horn were also replaced.

During cold weather air bag warning light will illuminate. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
