Tamara recall : the master brake cylinder has went out and everyone who I have spoke with has told me these particular vehicles are bad about. My brakes go all way to the floor no pressure at all and will not stop. I was on al hwy 278 in piedmont and went straight through red light almost getting it from from and rear of truck.

3 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2003 Toyota 4Runner

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

The contact owns a 2003 Toyota 4runner. While driving at 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and felt stiff, which caused a longer braking time. When the failure first occurred, all the warning indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated and there were no warning indicators illuminated. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the vehicle was losing brake power while being operated at higher speeds. The mechanic recommended that the master brake cylinder assembly be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

4 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2010 Toyota 4Runner

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Toyota 4runner. When the brake pedal was depressed, it traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. The contact, an independent mechanic, planned to inspect and test the brake system himself. The contact stated that the front and rear brakes had been bled extensively; however, the rear brake cylinder failed to function. The manufacturer had not issued any brake system recalls; however, a TSB was issued on September 9, 2013 (t-sb-0141-13) for the brakes. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

5 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2005 Toyota 4Runner

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

The master brake cylinder completely failed thus rendering the brakes completely inoperable. To stop the vehicle, the car was placed in p and shut down. It was towed to the dealer for inspection. This car had been serviced per the manufactures schedule since it was purchased in 2005. For almost two years, we had heard an oscillating sound from the engine compartment. The local dealer was made aware of this, but unable to diagnose the problem. The last visit was 4 months ago at which time they did not find a problem, but the sound continued. Highly dangerous situation. Luckily there was not an accident.

6 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2006 Toyota 4Runner

Failure Date: 04/24/2010

-the contact owns a 2006 Toyota 4runner. While reversing out of her garage, the contact engaged the brakes but the vehicle did not slow or respond. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership as the vehicle would not move. The dealer stated that the electrical chip had burned out; the vehicle was repaired at that time. The current and failure mileages were approximately 128,000. Updated 06/17/10. The dealer replaced the abs actuator and cylinder assembly. Updated 10/05/10.
