3 Door problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/12/2013

Hello this issue happened with my 2011 Toyota Camry. Yesterday evening at 7:30 pm I was trying to get into my car. The edge of the driver side car door slammed into my head and pierced through it. I had to call 911 and had to get 10 stitches on my forehead. Once I came back and examined the door of my car what I found is that the edge of car door looks like sharpened knife. The rubber beading does not reach till the corner of the car door (both on the driver side and passenger side). The edge of car door is extremely unsafe. I checked another car and there are no issues with that. The rubber padding reaches till the corner for that car.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). 2004 Toyota Camry/solara technical problem passenger door or trunk will not open. There is no key latch to enter car from outside of car on passenger side or to open trunk. Key remote does not work , I've taken car to Toyota dealer and replaced battery, but still will not open car door or trunk. I feel this is the dealers responsibility because the passenger door or trunk does not have a key latch on outside of the door or trunk . I have a daughter who has to ride in the back seat for safety purposes; I feel that in case of accident or emergency she would not be able to get out of / or someone would not be able to open door from outside or she cannot get out of car from inside. Then on December 11 of 2006 the passenger rear door handle failed. The contact is concern because on 12/06/06 the front passenger door handle that she got repaired in December of 2001 failed, as well as the rear left handle door seems to be on the verge of breaking. The contact also states that once the door handle fails there isn't a way to get out the vehicle and that is definitely a safety concern for her. The contact can provide pictures, the failed door handle and or, invoices if needed.

14 Door problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/11/2006

I wrote on may 9, 2005 about my 2002 Toyota Camry. In June 2004 the driver's inside door handle cracked and the door could not be opened from the inside. In may 2006 the passenger inside door handle cracked. Toyota refused any support. In July 2006 the back seat passenger side door handle cracked. All three times it cracked when attempting to exit the vehicle. Exiting the vehicle becomes impossible. This is a dangerous situation. I have again contacted my dealers customer care and parts department as well as the general manager. They would not let me talk to the owner. The part manager says there have not been a lot sold at the dealership and there is nothing in the bulletins. But this is a recurring safety issue.

16 Door problem of the 1996 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/12/2006

: the contact stated that there are triangular panels in each door that continue to detach from the vehicle. The contact expressed concern that since the panels are only held on by clips, the panels may detach and could become airborne inside the vehicle. The contact expressed that it would be better if they were screwed on. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where bondo was applied to the front panel. When the vehicle was taken to the dealer, the dealer was unwilling to provide a remedy to the problem. Updated 7/25/2006 - the door panel was replaced at the owners expense.

17 Door problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/05/2006

I am the owner of a 2002 Toyota Camry. In June of 2004, the inside driver's door handle cracked when I tried to exit the car. The handle is made of plastic. Toyota replaced the handle because the car was still under warranty. On may 5, 2006, the same thing happened to the passenger inside, plastic door handle when attempting to exit the car. This is a safety issue because the door won't open and you have to climb over the console to exit or have someone open the door for you. I'm grateful I wasn't exiting for an emergency. I have contacted Toyota. The first time you think it is a fluke but the second time makes you realize that they have a defective part which creates a safety issue. I don't want my door handle breaking when trying to get out of the car. I have owned many cars in my life time and have never broken a door handle. Toyota has refused to fix it claiming that it is not under warranty. However, they asked me such questions as whether I had my car serviced at the dealer and if I ever owned any other Toyotas. These questions are not relevant to the problem.

20 Door problem of the 2005 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/25/2004

The driver's side back window has had a whisleing sound since I purchased the car. I thought it was just the way the car was made that it wasn't very sound proof but when I rode in the passenger side it didn't make the sound. I believe there is a problem with the weatherstripping or the way the back drivers side door seals.

21 Door problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/10/2004

1. Loud creaking and rattles: after many attempts at repairs, the problem finally turned out to be a manufacturing defect. They left plastic assembly guides in place, which they had to remove by removing the window again (this was a super secret service bulletin that was divulged only when the customer engineer for new england showed up). But he dealership managed to chip the paint in the process, requiring the roof to be repainted. Once the creak was gone, the interior rattles were unbearable from all the quality work completed. 2. Transmission issue: I've been assured by the service manager at me dealership that it is normal the transmission take at least a mile shift out of second gear when below 30â°f and to a lesser degree during warm weather. The car won't shift into third or overdriven until after least 1-2 minute of driving, no matter what speed. 3. Transmission issue: when lifting off the throttle from 60 to 55mph on a downhill, there's a "hitch" or bucking where the transmission abruptly catches, then releases. Almost like it down shifting, but it stops half way. This has been an annoying problem since day one. The bucking problem is annoying and problematic. It was solved by reset the computer and showed up again at 42,000 miles. They are blaming it on the adaptive micro-processor and my driving style. (warranty) 4. Door rattles: driver's side and passenger side doors rattle/tick when going over bumps. I asked the service manager that was let go about the rattle, and he explained it's normal for new Camry's to have the doors make that make noise. Constant use of silicone was advised by the dealership. 5. Airbag recall 6. Passenger seat replacement due to poor construction and squeaking 7. Check engine light for defective charcoal canister 8. Warped front brake rotors 9. Pealing chrome on passenger door handle. (warranty) 10. Flaking paint on exterior door handles. * cb.

24 Door problem of the 1999 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/16/2003

My Camry has 30,000 miles on it and it is falling apart! the screws have fallen out of the doors three time and the Toyota dealerships only solution is to put silicone in the screw holes which now causes the the doors to squeak. The car is dragging the ground as a result of poor struts. I continue to get the run around with the manufacture.

26 Door problem of the 1997 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/31/2003

In 2001, when opening driver's door from outside with the door unlocked the flat part of the handle that is flush with the outer body of the door broke off from the remainder of the handle fixed into the door leaving a sharp piece of plastic on either side of the handle area that must be pried up to open the door. In the same week, the rear driver's side door did the same thing. I was told by the dealer/service department that "these plastics just don't hold up well in this sun. " I was also told it would cost $150 to repair them [as of January 2003 it would now cost $200 to repair them] and that since the car was in its fourth year, the warranty was no longer in effect. I and my wife have both been cut several times trying to get into the vehicle. Toyota's response is still "the warranty was only for 36 months. ".

27 Door problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/22/2002

The 2002 Toyota Camry achieved only a two star NHTSA side impact rating for the front doors (five for the rear). A Toyota representative at the 2002 International car show in san francisco said this was due to a structural design flaw which was being corrected ASAP for the 2003 models. The fix resulted in a three star rating. Will the correction be retrofitted on the older models or will passenger safety continue to be compromised because of this flaw?.

28 Door problem of the 1999 Toyota Camry

30 Door problem of the 1998 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/26/2002

Apparently some part or parts have failed within the door handle assembly, resulting in the inability to open doors. Often this failure results in not being able to open a door from either the inside or the outside of the vehicle. Simultaneous failures could result in being trapped inside the car.

31 Door problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

32 Door problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/01/2002

Rotten egg smell since the car was purchased. Complained to Toyota dealership and the regional rep without a resolution. The rep suggestion was to just put premium gas in it. Certainly not what I expected from Toyota but I have been putting premium gas in the car and it does seems to tame the smell somewhat. In addition we have had problems with the front alignment and the car pulls to the left. Have purchased a life time alignment warranty but it still seems to go out of alignment quickly. Also have a constant wind problem with the driver side front door. Been repaired once, going into the shop again to repair. Also the original tires had to be replaced at 24,000 miles. I wouldn't consider a Toyota in future car purchases.

33 Door problem of the 2000 Toyota Camry
