I’m getting a message on my dashboard that srs airbag system malfunction. Visit your dealer. I know there are recalls going on for this right now with american maid Toyotas, but I’m told mine isn’t because it was made in japan. I do not have $1000 to go get this fixed. This is a safety issue because it says if in an accident, the passenger side airbag will not implode. .

I am writing to formally report a serious safety concern regarding my vehicle’s airbag system following a recent accident. On April 22, 2026, I was involved in a significant collision while driving my Toyota Corolla 2022. The impact was severe enough that the other vehicle involved deployed its airbags. However, despite the force of the crash, the airbags in my vehicle did not deploy. I am extremely concerned that the airbag system may have failed to function as designed. Given that airbags are a critical safety feature intended to protect occupants in high-impact collisions, this raises serious questions about the reliability and safety of my vehicle.
Was in a wreck where I ended up rear ending a truck. I dont know how fast I was at after putting on the brakes. But originally it was 60 mph speed limit. The air bags did not deploy at all.

I received a "do not drive" recall for my vehicle in the mail because of defective air bags. The recall letter claimed that there have been twenty-eight confirmed deaths in relation to this recall. I entered priority Toyota of chesapeake, va to address the issue. That was on Monday, April 6th, 2026. Even though there was a "do not drive" order on the recall, priority Toyota of chesapeake refused to give me a loaner vehicle. It is now Monday, April 13th, and priority Toyota of chesapeake has claimed that they are still waiting on an email to begin repairing the vehicle, which I need for transport. This is a formal complaint that priority Toyota of chesapeake, va has failed to repair the recalls to the vehicle in a timely manner.

I am attempting to complete a manufacturer-issued safety recall involving my vehicle’s airbag system, which includes a “do not drive” advisory due to the risk of airbag inflator failure. Despite multiple good-faith attempts, I have encountered repeated barriers at the dealership level that have prevented timely completion of the repair. I scheduled a service appointment with culver city Toyota and clearly indicated I required a rental vehicle to leave my car. My confirmation stated “arrangement: rental vehicle,” and the appointment was scheduled accordingly. When I arrived, I was told no rentals were available and that they are first-come, first-served. I was turned away and told to return another day. When I returned, I was able to leave my vehicle, but was asked how long I would need the rental without being given a repair timeline. Only after asking was I told the repair would take approximately two days. This was not communicated in advance, and given the prior lack of rental availability, it is unclear how I would have been expected to proceed without transportation. This has occurred across multiple attempts: lack of rental availability and requests to leave my vehicle for extended periods without transportation have made it difficult or impossible to complete the recall. As a result, I have been placed in the position of continuing to operate a vehicle with a known safety defect under a “do not drive” advisory due to the inability to access timely and practical repair. I am concerned that dealership-level processes are creating barriers that delay or prevent consumers from completing urgent safety recalls. As of today, I have left my car at this dealership for the recall repair, however the inconsistent communication and handling of this process have created uncertainty about whether the repair will be completed in a timely and reliable manner. Seeing reviews online, I'm not the only one who's had this issue and the gm is non responsive.
I was driving on a two lane state road. Two vehicles we traveling in front of me in the left lane. The further vehicle in left decide to make a sudden stop at a traffic light. The silver sedan behind that vehicle was traveling too close to react appropriately. The sedan avoid the vehicle in front of it and impeded into my lane and collide with my vehicle. My airbags in my 2019 Corolla failed to deploy.

Driving on the interstate. Did not see or feel anything in the road. Airbags deployed and wrecked.
While I was driving in the middle lane through an intersection, a car from the opposite side failed to yield while turning and hit me on my driver's side. My car was traveling at approximately 35 mph, and the other vehicle was exceeding the speed limit. The impact caused my car to veer in the opposite direction and I lost consciousness immediately. The fire department had to extract me from the passenger side door as my driver's side door was jammed shut. Both the driver's door and the rear door on that side cannot be opened, rendering the car undriveable and necessitating towing from the crash scene. The collision was severe, causing my head to snap back and forth against the steering wheel, along with impact to the left side of my body and whiplash to my neck, back, and chest. I was taken to the nearest er by ambulance, experiencing bruises as well as severe pain in my head, neck, back, and chest, making breathing difficult. Despite the intensity of the crash, the airbags did not deploy, leading to further jolting of my body against the car interior. I had bought the car directly from a Toyota dealer, but I have not been contacted by Toyota regarding any potential manufacturing defects. The failure of the airbags to deploy after such a significant impact and the speed of the other vehicle has raised concerns about the safety of my car, as I was under the impression that it was free of defects.

#### the abs defect 12. Within seven (7) days of purchase, and with fewer than [number] miles driven, the subject vehicle experienced a catastrophic failure of the abs pump containing the electronic control unit (ecu) [citation:1 from previous analysis]. 13. This failure caused the abs warning light to illuminate and completely disabled the abs functionality, reducing the braking system to non-power-assisted, pre-abs technology. 14. The failure occurred with no warning and despite the vehicle being operated under normal driving conditions. 15. Upon information and belief, the abs pump/ecu unit contained manufacturing and/or design defects that existed at the time the vehicle left defendants' control. #### the airbag system defect 16. On or about [date of crash], plaintiffs were involved in a motor vehicle collision while operating the subject 2026 Toyota Corolla. 17. Upon information and belief, the crash forces were of sufficient magnitude that the vehicle's airbag control unit (acu) should have deployed the front airbags. 18. The airbags failed to deploy, causing plaintiffs to sustain enhanced injuries that would have been prevented or mitigated had the airbags functioned properly. 19. Upon information and belief, the airbag control unit in the subject vehicle is of the same type or design as those implicated in prior class action litigation against Toyota involving defective acus manufactured by zf-trw automotive . 20. Defendants have previously settled claims regarding acus that were vulnerable to "electrical overstress," which could disable the airbag system entirely during a crash, for $78. 5 million . 21. Defendants failed to warn plaintiffs that the 2026 Toyota Corolla might contain an acu with these same vulnerabilities.

The contact owned a 2011 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while he was driving at 40 mph, another vehicle that was speeding caused a multiple vehicle collision. During the collision, the contact was in the middle lane when the speeding vehicle crashed into a vehicle in the left lane, and that vehicle merged violently into the middle lane, causing the contact to rear-end the vehicle in front due to the driver abruptly stopping. During the attempt to stop, the vehicle failed to decelerate sufficiently. Upon impact, the frontal air bags failed to fully deploy, as they only partially emerged from the housing. The failure experienced was a loss of braking effectiveness at 40 mph that resulted in a rear-end collision, during which the frontal air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed to a family member's home. The tire pressure warning was the only warning light on at the time of the crash. The driver was injured. Injuries sustained were lower back, right side ribs, and neck pain that required medical attention. The vehicle was deemed totaled by insurance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,000.

In 2018, my 2010 Toyota Corolla was taken to the dealership for the takata airbag recall. After the repair the airbag warning light would intermittently display and go away only to come back later. The light was never consistent and was always randomly on so in turn could be off some times during the start up of the vehicle. In 2021, I took the vehicle to the dealership in which at the time the light was still intermittent. The dealership did not present any diagnostic and instead had reset the code during that time. The light would continue to still intermittently show afterwards. Currently the airbag warning light has been solid. Today 1/9/2026, the dealership has indicated they would not remediate this situation under workmanship warranty work despite previously resetting the code. The dealership insists the customer should pay for this remediation work. I have currently declined the work to seek external advise. The dealership work invoice states the code b1806 for the front passenger side squib circuit, this continued error puts passengers at risk in a car accident. Upon request of the previous dealership service history, the customer noted that there is a missing gap for service records on the dealership side. Most importantly the customer stated concern for the 2021 requested remediation was not documented. These appointments are still visible via the customer's service appointment reminder emails.
I was in the middle lane and a car came into my lane so I swerved and a car came up on me in the right lane and my car did a 360 and ended up in a ditch.
While driving approximately 35–45 mph, my vehicle struck a deer in a frontal collision. The impact resulted in significant front-end damage and the vehicle was later declared a total loss. The airbags did not deploy. At the time of the crash, the vehicle was subject to an unrepaired federal safety recall involving the airbag control unit (zf-trw acu recall). I experienced soreness following the crash. No airbags deployed.
On December 12, 2025, I was in a head on car accident in my 2021 Toyota Corolla nightshade. I was slammed into the steering wheel which caused injury. My car has over $14,000 worth of damage to the front yet my airbags did not deploy. I have taken my car to Toyota several times over the past few years and every time I’ve asked about a remedy for this recall I’ve been told there is no remedy as early as June or July 2025 I had to bring my car in for a manufacturer defect with the engine that Toyota fixed for free. I asked them about the recall on the airbags. They again told me there was no remedy.
I am submitting a safety concern regarding airbag non-deployment involving my former vehicle, a 2011 Toyota Corolla le (VIN: [xxx] ). This vehicle was subject to multiple takata airbag recalls, including a 2018 front airbag recall and a may 2020 takata non-deployment and seatbelt pretensioner interim recall. Beginning in spring 2021, the airbag warning light illuminated intermittently. On may 30, 2024, diagnostic trouble codes b1813 and b1818 were recorded, indicating faults involving the driver and passenger airbag squib circuits and potential center airbag sensor assembly involvement. A recall-related repair was completed on June 6, 2024 with installation of a harness kit (04009-98112) under extended warranty associated with a class action settlement. Following subsequent service, the airbag warning light was no longer illuminated. After these repairs, the vehicle was later involved in a rear-end collision in which the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was declared a total loss and is no longer in my possession. Given the vehicle’s documented history of airbag system recalls and prior srs fault codes, I am submitting this incident for safety documentation and review. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to avoid striking a deer the vehicle crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the sos system detected the impact to the vehicle and alerted first responders. The vehicle was towed to the local tow yard and later towed to a collision center. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been accessed by the adjuster. The contact stated that there were damages to the front of the vehicle, the windshield was shattered, and damages to the hood of the vehicle and the front passenger's door failed to open. No police report was filed because the crash occurred on private property. The contact later sustained chest pains, however no medical attention was received. In addition, the contact stated that the chest pain was continuous. The contact was advised by the insurance company to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle event data recorder (edr) was retrieved; however, the contact was not provided any additional information regarding the data. The failure mileage was approximately 883.
On October 17, 2025, a 2018 Toyota Corolla le was delivered to an authorized Toyota dealership for an airbag recall repair. The recall involved the airbag electronic control unit (ecu), which, according to Toyota and the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA), may fail to deploy the airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners during certain types of crashes due to inadequate protection against electrical noise. The vehicle was picked up on October 18, 2025, after the dealer reported the recall repair as completed. Before the recall, the vehicle displayed a clear and consistent safety issue: the “passenger airbag off” indicator stayed illuminated even when a full-size adult occupant (approximately 208 lbs) was seated in the front passenger seat. After the recall repair, the exact same issue persisted with no improvement. The repair was ineffective, as the system still failed to recognize an occupied seat, and the passenger airbag continued to show “off. ” when this was reported to the dealership immediately after pickup, staff incorrectly stated that the recall concerned metal fragments inside the airbags. This is inaccurate. The official recall documentation from Toyota and NHTSA clearly identifies the defect as non-deployment of airbags and seatbelt pretensioners, not metal fragments. The dealership then advised that a diagnostic inspection would be needed for a $175 fee. However, since this issue directly involves the same safety components addressed by the recall and remains unresolved after the recall repair, it should be re-inspected free of charge under recall coverage. Charging a diagnostic fee in this case is unreasonable, given that the recall repair did not correct the problem as intended. This ongoing malfunction presents a serious safety risk, as the airbag may fail to deploy in a crash. The problem likely involves a defective occupant detection sensor or an improperly functioning ecu/noise filter following the recall service.

Component/system failed: the srs airbag system malfunctioned. After a rear-end collision on October 3, 2025, in gwinnett county, GA, the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle displayed an alert: “srs airbag system – malfunction detected” at 16:02. Safety risk: my safety was put at risk because the airbags did not function during a significant impact. This failure could have resulted in severe injury if the collision had been more forceful or from another angle. Inspection/reproduction: on October 6, 2025, I brought the vehicle to atlanta Toyota. Instead of documenting the diagnostic trouble code (dtc) and providing a report, the dealer cleared the fault code and recalibrated the system without my authorization, effectively erasing critical evidence of the malfunction. The invoice confirms this. Inspections by others: the vehicle was inspected only by the Toyota dealer. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but I have legal counsel and am preserving the evidence for further independent inspection. Warning lamps/messages: yes. The srs airbag system malfunction message appeared immediately after the collision on October 3, 2025. I have photographic evidence of this alert.

There was a recall on my vehicle for the skid and emergency braking and was told it was taken care of Feb 2025 at my service appointment. I was involved in a car accident on Aug 11, 2025, everything that was supposed to be fixed in the recall did not operate during my crash. I reconfirmed with the dealership that they did the recall repair and they again said yes but if they did then the repair completely failed. There was no emergency braking available, the car skid a long distance, no airbags deployed even though all sensors in the front were engaged and collision center confirmed they should have gone off. Vehicle is currently at collision center and is available to be inspected.
The current recall on this car (passenger front seat weigh sensor issue) has been going on for too long (since 2023). Based on the recall info, I have not been able to drive with anyone sitting on the front passenger seat.

Red light on dashboard indicates passenger airbag is not working, I would like to have this taken care of.
I purchased this vehicle in November 2024 from a dealership. On July 8, 2025, I was involved in a crash where the airbag failed to deploy. After the accident, I learned there was an active recall from 2020 (NHTSA recall no. 20v024) related to the airbag control system. The recall had not been repaired, and I was never informed of it when I bought the car. This defect may have worsened my injuries and left me completely unprotected during the crash.

Greeting, on June 7,2025 my Toyota Corolla was repaired at interstate Toyota for the replacement on the airbag. I have attached documents that share the job was completed successfully. Please review and forward and email that it is verified in your system to my email address. Pattersonbe1@gmail. Com warmly, beverly patterson.
My son drove the car to the store less than 2 miles from the house and the airbag light came on and stayed while he was driving. He looked up the light in the owners manual and it said take vehicle to the Toyota dealer immediately! I know multiple cars we have owned in the past have had airbag recalls. I can not remember if this one has ever been recalled and repaired in the past. I attached the photos of the light and the manual.
Ocs sensor recall. The potential of this recall makes me very nervous to drive the car. They haven't tested or inspected the part until the remedy is in. No lights on dash at this time.
