My husband was driving in a residential neighborhood. He took his eyes off the road and hit a parked vehicle. The airbags in our 2003 Toyota Corolla did not deploy and my husband hit his chin on the steering wheel and his head on the windshield. He received 16 staples and 12 stitches in his head, 5 stitched in his tongue and is being treated for neck injuries. There is significant damage to the front of our vehicle and I presume the car will be totaled. The airbags should have deployed given the extent of the damage and the location that the car was hit.
My wife met with an accident on the garden state parkway and the car got crashed. My wife sustained injuries on chest due hit on the steering wheel. The air bags did not open.

Our daughter was involved in a front end collision with another vehicle that ran a stop sign. Both vehicles were traveling approximately 20-25 mph when impact occurred. My daughter's car was totaled due to front end/engine damage. The air bags (both) did not deploy. Why? the impact was great enough to cause bruises, soreness and a busted lip. What happened to the airbags?.

The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that when the vehicle approached a stop sign, both front air bags suddenly deployed and the horn began to sound. The horn stopped for a few seconds and the air bags began to make a "popping sound" and the horn began to sound again. A bystander disconnected the horn and the vehicle was towed to a dealer to be repaired. The driver was injured when the air bags deployed. A claim was filed with the insurance company; yet, it was denied. The failure and current mileages were approximately 200,000. Updated 11/03/10.
I was parked (motor running) in my 2003 Toyota Corolla in front of a friends house waiting for him to pick me up and go to lunch when my airbags deployed . My windshield was broken and I was hit in the forearm by the bag. I need your guidance on determining the what caused this situation and how to proceed with the repairs. I have talked to Toyota representatives here in puerto rico and they advised me they had no responsibility for the incident and if I wanted to determine what caused the airbags to deploy I would have to do it on my own. I was left with the feeling that ware and tare, mileage and car age are the factors causing the failure. If this is so Toyota should alert their clients to replace the airbag system after a certain mileage and /or car age. Because I am not a mechanic I told the Toyota representatives I would contact you to report the incident and their assertion they have no responsibility at all regarding this matter. I registered a police complaint and it was classified as not due to an accident. Presently my car is at my mechanics garage but no work is being done to it.
Driving on my way to work was involved in a crash in which my brakes did not come to a complete stop, causing me to crash in to a car in front of me.
About 5:30pm on Thursday evening (2/4/10), I was driving home n on silver lake blvd & 36 st. It was lightly snowing, the streets were wet and slippery, and I was driving under 15/mph going downhill. As I pressed the brakes, the car went faster, and did not stop until I badly hit the car in front of me and went over the curb. My car is a 2009 Toyota Corolla. About 2-3 months ago, Toyota sent me a recall notice for the brakes, much before the nationwide Toyota recall hit the media. And now, even after I did recall a few months ago, this is the second time that such a brake-related incident has happened to me ever since the recall. I feel that this accident is related to another brake defect of the newly-replaced/altered brakes, and would kindly ask for it to be further investigated.

Dear sirs, I had a mechanical failure caused vehicle collision where two safety hazards should call public alert. On Aug. 24, 2009 as I traveled on highway 93 south, I saw the vehicle in front of me took a sudden slow-down or stop, about 30 feet in distance, even as I floored the brake pedal, my 2009 Toyota Corolla did not have any brake function at all, even not a resistance force at the pedal. My vehicle reared another vehicle inside the tunnel of 93 south, under normal travel situation: road surface and lighting. And then before the deployed airbag from the driving column could have blocked my body movement forward , it exploded, the inside of my vehicle filled with smoke and funny smells. Fortunately, nobody got serious injured in the collision. Since my Corolla is a new car under 4900 miles, this was the only time I experience the sudden mechanical failures. My insurance company, metropolitan property, has inspected the vehicle, but did not specify any mechanical failures. Toyota north America also had their personnel inspected the vehicle upon received my report to them, but they may not take any responsibility to pass the information to the public, as there is also liability issue within. So far no repair work has been done to the vehicle, yet. The simultaneous failures of both brakes and airbag could be very serious safety hazards, please take note of this case and make it available to the public. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could, or let some third-party mechanic to, have my vehicle inspected. Thanks.
Air bag deployed without cause while driving on the highway. Toyota has not been able to provide a reason as to why this happened and therefore cannot guarantee that it will not happen again. They have do little to address our concerns. They have repaired the air bag, without knowing what created the problem. They have not repaired the numerous other electrical issues we are having with the vehicle since the incident occurred. Getting answers and assistance from Toyota has been a nightmare.
Airbag deployed without warning while traveling 65 mph. On the highway. The vehicle was not involved in an accident past or present. Nothing was hit, no damage to the exterior or undercarriage vehicle.
Car crash on August 13th, 2009. . . I was traveling in a straight path going southbound and an oncoming vehicle did a left hand
turn lane and hit my car on the front passenger side. I was traveling 34-37 mph, he was traveling pretty fast. I received whiplash and upper shoulder and back injuries. Police and ambulance arrived at the scene. My car safety bags did not deploy.

I was involved in an accident in August, and the airbag should have deployed, because I was hit very hard. It didn't, and caused me severe pain.

My 2006 Toyota Corolla s was rear ended on the right half of the rear bumper on hwy 85, then propelled into a concrete barrier creating left front damage. The trunk was crumpled including the right rear roof support. The crash to the front broke a large piece out f the left wheel and flattened the tire. The seat belt held me, but I suffered two severe whiplashes and still under treatment for injuries. The car has been repaired at a cost of $9,300. I don't understand why the airbag didn't deploy. The Toyota agency said it was because the collision didn't happen in the middle of the front bumper. It is my understanding that airbags are suppose to protect you. Is there an issue with Toyota airbags?.
In 2007, I had purchased a Toyota Corolla le. I had not noticed this problem until 2 weeks after purchasing the vehicle. The problem lies with the airbag not flushed with the dashboard and creates dips and valleys. The passenger airbag is sunk into the dashboard. After speaking with the dealer, they replaced the airbag and told me to let it sit for a while and the airbag and dashboard would align. However, after letting it sit for nearly two years, it is still the same condition. On almost every oil change, I would complain about the problem to the dealership and they would advise me to give it some more time. I filed a complaint with Toyota customer satisfaction department and they researched the case. In the end, the Toyota customer satisfaction department told me that there is nothing they can do. They informed me that they have sold many 2007 Corolla's that are known to have this problem with the airbag. They cannot guarantee me that because the airbag sinks into the dash, it will deploy when it needs to.

Was driving down an decline in the road and was applying the brake gently due to stop light at the oncoming intersection, which I saw that was red, but it changed to green and I reapplied the gas at this time. Then , I heard a great loud noise and this thing was in my face, and I could not see . I knew that I needed to get the car off the road, but I was fighting the airbag to see the road and to prevent me from hitting a car in front, I used my right hand to fight the airbag and my left to steer the car. At this point I was thinking I had passed the intersection which had a small area for flowers or signs, had a 4-6 curb, but when I turned the wheel toward the right to get off the road I ran upon the median( across the curb which was 4-6 inches in height, and this damaged the tire rims . They were bend and damaged the tires , all four went flat. I still managed to get the car to safety without any real injury to myself. I am still in daze with this freak occurrence. I have never experience d anything like this. I would like to hear from others. , but mainly I would like to know what caused this. The car had been hit in the rear approximately 6 months prior, in which the whole trunk area and back had to be replaced. Could this have been a factor? I really need answers. Keep it mind, I have driven this road for 40 years without an accident. I can't understand this with a new car and new tires.
Hi, I see my 2005 Toyota Corolla failed in the government crash compliance test (frontal crash, fmvss208), and passed again with a my 2006 one. I guess that means Toyota updated a part or parts of my 2005 Corolla, but I have never received any recall notice from Toyota.
While rolling to a stop between traffic signals foot off the gas pedal my vehicle suddenly revved itself up and bolted forward creating a 3 vehicle accident. I hit the brake when I felt the initial surge, but still hit the vehicle in front. Seat belts were worn in each vehicle and my airbag didn't deploy. My vehicle has suffered over $4,500 in damage and won't run while it sits at an auto body shop, the nose and bumper are badly damaged. I was told this sounds like "unintentional acceleration" . The vehicle is awaiting the parts for repairs.
I would like to report both air bags on my 2005 Toyota Corolla did not deploy after a head on collision. My vehicle was a total loss.
I purchased a previously owned 1999 Toyota Corolla ve 4-door sedan for my daughter. The vehicle has approximately 89,000 miles, is in fair condition, and is not rebuilt to my knowledge. My daughter was involved in an accident in which the vehicle was totaled resulting from front-end damage, but neither airbag deployed. Luckily, she was not injured but I feel that the airbag system failed to work properly and if the accident had been any worse, their failure to deploy could have resulted in serious injury. The vehicle is no longer drivable and is awaiting the insurance appraisal.

Both front airbags deployed with a mod-speed front right crash by oncoming vehicle. Drivers front airbag started smoldering emitting an acrid gray smoke (electrical wiring?) from the base of the airbag; stopped smoking when disconnected battery. Passenger airbag broke front windshield when it deployed (had no passenger). Are either of these situations common/normal with airbag deployment?.
Consumer's vehicle rearended another vehicle at 20 mph, and neither airbag deployed. Vehicle has not been inspected by mechanic, vehicle sustained extensive damage to front end. No injuries.
Stepped on the brakes, but they failed to stop, airbag also failed, brakes fade to the floor, resulted in hitting another vehicle. Air bag did not open.
