Front Air Bag Problems of Toyota Corolla - part 2

While driving at 40-45mph and involved in a frontal collison none of the air bags deployed, and consumer sustained major injuries. Vehicle was totalled.

The airbags were recalled March of 1997, I do not know if were replaced or they are the original airbags. They did not deploy during the accident, and I would like to know my options.

We had the delership look at vehicle four times and they claimed my wife did not know what she was talking about. The fifth time on June 2nd we took it to another delership and they said the right front strut assembly was faulty and replaced. We have also noticed the brakes do not operate normally all the time but no action has been taken. Lastly, my wife had a wreck and the air bags did not diploy. We contacted Toyota and they said they would send someone out to look at the vehicle. So, far they have not been fully cooperative. In notifying you I hope that maybe no one else will be injured in a more serious accident if the car turns to be faulty. Sincerely william and holly skeen.

Vehicle was involved in a rear end collision at 45 mph, and air bags came out, but did not deploy. Driver injured lip on steering wheel. Dealer notified.

I was in a car accident 10/23/00, in which I hit another vehicle from behind. I was driving at 45mph. My air bags failed to go off. Lukily, I was wearing my seat belt. The estimated damage to my vehicle is over $6,000, which is more than the car is worth. Also, in Feb. Of this year, while at a stop light, another driver informed me my left tail light was on fire. The fire caused my alternator to blow, and the battery to drain. I took my car back to the dealer, they couldn't find the cause. I took my car to a Toyota dealer, and not only could they not find the cause, but they said they had never heard of that happening before. After towing fees, battery, alternator, all new fuses, tail light and wire harness I spent $500.

Was in an accident going 45mph a truck ran a stop sign and I hit them in the side my son was in the passenger seat and his seat caught when I pressed the brakes but released when we hit the other vehicle airbag deployed but did not inflate. The seatbelt also released when we hit the ditch. He hit his head on the winshield 2 times and is now dealing with post concussion syndrome. I called Toyota and they said they found no defects and that the safety system did what it was suppose to. ( dot number: tire size: p185/65r14 ).

Vehicle experienced air bag deployedment after starting vehicle and releasing the parking brake. After reporting the incident to manufacturer, consumer received a manufacturer's. Recall notice on this problem .

I hit a truck at an intersction at 55. I did not see him. I was alone, and did not see the truck soon enough. My driver's air bag deployed, but did not inflate. The para-medic who reached me first noted that the bag had not inflated. They arrived in 5 minutes. The passenger side did inflate. I suffered severe bruising and broken ribs and hit the steering wheel. My insurance company asked me to report this incident.

Vehicle experienced brake failure prior to accident, however dealership could not identify problem, loss of brakes resulted in vehicle rear end collision, no deployment of both air bags during collision resulting in injury.

Airbag deployed for no reason, and the dust made the consumer very sick . Dealer was contacted, and asked what type of gas was used for the inside of airbag.

While driving at 35 mph another vehicle made a left turn in front of the consumer vehicle, and consumer couldn't stop and hit the other vehicle. None of the four air bags deployed.

The consumer was driving at 40 mph when another vehicle rear ended consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, driver's side and passenger's side air bags didn't deploy.

Consumer s was driving car about 25 mph and air bag just deployed in her face, she was injured.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal impact, speed approximately 35mph, neither airbag deployed upon impact, insurance company estimated damages $4,000. 00, dealer cannot duplicate the problem.

Driver attempted to start vehicle up, and when driver turned on the ignition the air bag deployed without any notice. Driver did not move vehicle or hit anything. The vehicle was in a park position and the air bag deployed.

Consumer came around a corner and hit the curb, then hit a pole and the air bag deployed later, causing his pants to catch on fire in lap area. Consumer received burns in lap area.
