The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the plastic headlight coverings were discolored, which caused poor visibility while driving at night. The manufacturer stated that the dealer could clean the headlights, which would make them thinner. The contact did not believe that would be effective. The failure mileage was 34,271. Updated 06/09/09 the consumer stated the plastic headlight lens that covers the headlight was starting to discolor. The problem has progressed to the point that he has a difficult time seeing the road at night. Updated 06/10/09. The consumer is concerned about the engine recall. The consumer was informed his vehicle was a part of the recall. He is concerned the engine may shut down before the recall is performed, due to limited parts. 2 Power Steering Hose, Piping, And Connections problem of the 2004 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/20/2007

The belt tensioner on this vehicle has failed for the second time. Vehicle was purchased new, and needed a new belt tensioner at 44k. The work was done at an authorized Toyota dealer, al hendrickson Toyota. The second belt tensioner failure was at 78k and the tensioner was replaced again at a Toyota dealer, palm beach Toyota. The second dealer, palm beach Toyota, found a defective clamp on a powersteering hose after repeated power steering failures subsequent to replacement of tensioner. Both tensioner failures were preceded by oily spots on driveway under tensioner unit and were likely caused by the defective power steering hose clamp found by palm beach Toyota allowing leaking power steering fluid onto belt and tensioner assembly.
