1 Underhood Wiring problem of the 2012 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 05/11/2012

The car was parked in the driveway with the doors locked and the windows rolled up. Sometime between 10pm and 5:30am there was a fire that created enough heat to melt the coating on the front windshield and blow out the front windshield, melt the center of the dash and the area between the visors where the controls for the sunroof and interior lights were. It also caused a short in the wiring that resulted in turning on the headlights even though the switch was off. We had to disconnect the car battery to turn off the lights. Toyota did an investigation and decided that the aurora be any baby on the dash spontaneously combusted in the middle of the night causing the fire and damage. Since there have been reports of other Toyotas having problems with electrical I thought you would want to know about this case.

2 Underhood Wiring problem of the 2003 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 12/15/2006

While driving the rav 4 on country roads, the car stalled at a stop. After multiple attempts, we were able to re-start the car and drive it home although it ran very rough. Towed car to dealer who eventually determined it was caused by a intermittent ground-wire connection between computers. Car had about 50,000 miles on it.

The car suffered mechanical defect and the front end bar was broken, when front end bar broke it lost direction and hit another car in front. The highway patrol came to take the accident report. We were driving at 25mph on freeway number 405. I have called my auto insurance and I was given a case number. I have full cover. I am waiting for a response from my auto insurance to fix the car. I have contated Toyota and I also have a case with them. The case number is 200603011457. I have Toyota and the claims representative is christy. Christy have said to wait at least 60 days. I can't wait 60 days. I need my car. The auto insurance has not given me a rental. I have complaint to the commissioner of auto insurance in California. They will conduct and investigation. The case number with my auto insurance is 10000148757. My auto insurance carrier is infinity. What I want is Toyota to replace my car. The car is a total loss. I feel this broken bar should be recall.

5 Underhood Wiring problem of the 1999 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 02/15/2005

Complaint received via e-mail. While my son was driving the car caught on fire under the hood for no apparent reason. I contacted Toyota corporation regarding this issue, and they had me take the car to a local dealer. So I took it to midtown Toyota, where I purchased the vehicle in August of 1999. I spoke with a jim christensen ,773-622-6300 x 4911. He is in the service department. After a week I was told that because my car was 6 years old and had 64,000 miles on it that it was determined that this was not a manufacturer's defect. But they could not explain to me what caused the fire, and told me that they were not responsible for the repairs. The car was purchased brand new, and does not have any after market installations of any kind. I have photos of the damage that can mailed upon request. Damage was caused to front right side, head lights, wiring burned and washer reservoir. The back tail lights and interior lights don't work any more. Also a fan in the engineer keeps running which causes my battery to run down. My car was in prefect running condition up until this happened. The person I spoke with @ Toyota regarding this incident is troy h. Higa, 310-468-5638. I have tried several times to go about troy, but was told that there was no one else I could speak to regarding this problem. I would like this investigated.
