My 2009 Toyota Tacoma is experiencing the same technical problems as recall 14v168000 and 12v092000. I call Toyota headquarters and they refused to examine my vehicle without paying the diagnostic fee even though my vehicle is exhibiting the exact same issue Toyota is recalling the truck. A mechanic examined the truck and stated the airbag is not active and will not deploy and advised to reach out to Toyota to have them examine it. Even though my truck is not on the recall list however it is exhibiting exactly what the recall is calling for and Toyota is failing to acknowledge it.

My vehicle was t-boned while driving through an intersection. After being hit, my vehicle continued moving forward, but the brakes would not engage or work. I pressed them several times and as firmly as possible, but the vehicle would not stop or slow down. As I approached a nearby curb, I pulled the emergency brake, which slowed down my vehicle slightly before colliding head-on with a fire hydrant and utility pole. The impact completely totaled the vehicle, yet the airbags did not deploy. Bottom line, in period of a few seconds, the brakes completely failed and the airbags did not deploy. The end result could have been devastating, but fortunately was not. The vehicle is set to be released to the insurance representative soon, but no analysis has been completed. A police report was filed. The vehicle is brand new (less than 2 months old) and no indications of fault or malfunction occurred prior to the incident.

The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving 50 mph in the morning and in heavy fog, she was unable to visibly see the road which caused her to impact a stationed vehicle in the middle of the road. The contact stated the vehicle was stationed due to a prior crash incident. The contact stated she steered to the right and ended up in a ditch. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. No air bags deployed. The contact stated she thinks she hit her head on the front windshield since it was fractured. The contact stated she sustained a concussion and has bruises on her right chest and right arm. The contact sought medical attention at a near hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to a towing lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
A txdot road work crew had traffic stopped on the highway. We were last in a row of traffic when a distracted, driver, traveling near full highway speed rear-ended us. The truck automatically connected us to an agent who called 911. The message screen showed 2 warnings which said seatbelt malfunction and airbag malfunction. My husband and I both sustained injuries from the forward force against the seat belts to his abdomen and my shoulder, both of which required surgical repair. The airbags did not deploy. The truck was a total loss. A police report was filed but I do not have a copy.

The airbag light first came on about 60 days ago, the first time I tried to use the cruise control after light was first noticed the cruise control did not work. My concern is that as long as the light is on the airbag(s) may or may not deploy. This airbag light has stayed on constantly since first appeared, the cruise control will work intermittently. The component has not been inspected but there is a recall, 12v092000:air bag clockspring replacement, that addresses this exact concern but appears my VIN is not included. This is obviously a problem on other VIN ranges because mine suffers from this and it is obvious Toyota is aware there is a problem but it just hasn't had enough complaints with my VIN range, likely because there are not as many on the road as the vehicle is 14 years old. I am concerned for my family's safety as well as my own if the airbag fails to deploy because of an accident.

Vehicle was involved in an accident while starting to turn left onto a side street. The Tacoma was struck in both driver side doors by a 2005 Chevrolet silverado k3000 driven by an 85 year old who either ran the stop sign or did not see her even though she was signaling and the truck had the option driving lights that are on all the time. The Tacomas doors were pushing in almost a foot and the truck was pushed sideways several feet. Tacoma driver injured her side and has a probable concussion. This Tacoma is equipped with side seat and side curtain airbags but neither deployed. The insurance claims adjuster stated that based on the damage, the airbags should have deployed.
The contact owned a 2014 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at 52 mph, the vehicle drove over a pothole, causing the driver’s and passenger’s side curtain air bags to erroneously deploy. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,600.

The subject vehicle left roadway and impacted a tree in a pure frontal impact. The front seat passenger airbag failed to deploy. An 11 year old child was seated and properly belted in the front passenger seat. The child was killed as a result of blunt force trauma to his head when his head struck the front dash structure. In addition, the belted occupant seated behind the front passenger seat, while properly belted, impacted the rear of the front passenger seat and the seat deformed forward, limiting the ride down space for the front passenger seat occupant. The other three occupants in the subject Toyota Tacoma suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The truck was rear ended on 8/15 by a car going 45 miles per hour at a stop light. The air bag sensor went on and air bag did not deploy. It did not deploy when it should have. Both passenger and driver seatbelt did not lock. They did not lock. That sensor is also on. Was contacted by dealer after they were notified air bag went off when it did not go off and should have gone off. Seatbelts did not lock on impact causing injury. Car is not drivable due to these sensors and life saving features not working. Sensors are on. Insurance company says car can not be driven it is unsafe. Both driver and passenger went to emergency room. It is our sons car who is in college in colorado.
I was involved in an accident and the airbags on my 2016 Toyota Tacoma did not deploy.

I was in a severe t-none car accident and the airbags did not deploy. The power restrain activated, the seat locked in place but no airbag deployment. The car that hit me was going at aprox. 50-60mph. I could have died and so could have my 11 & 6 year old passengers. My sister got cought in between the cabin space and the impacted door.
Another vehicle turned left in front of the Toyota, resulting in a head-on collision at about 30 mph. The forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking systems did not engage and the airbags did not deploy. Police report has not been completed by grpd as of today (6/1/2022).
I had an accident over a year ago and the airbags did not deploy then I ask the guy that fixed it told me that it didn't have the sensor on the front of my truck, and I wonder why. Now I realized the never saw that sensor on my truck, and want to know what is happening with my truck if other vehicles are involved in the same situation. Sincerely: rodolfo gonzalez.

The local dealership cloninger Ford /Toyota told me that I need to replace the airbag ecu and pretensioner on drivers side. The cost estimate was $1,500. 00. I have seen that Toyota has given recalls on other models for this defect. I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma. I am submitting this complaint with hopes for my case to be considered. The airbag light cam on on my truck 2 months ago and cloninger Toyota replaced the front seat belt assy. And erased dics. This cured the problem (light on) for a few weeks. Please consider this issue for recall further than you have at this point.
First notices that volume control on steering wheel and temp and directional display stopped working about a year ago. Now air bag light stays on when car is started and alarm for seat belts quit working.
My problem was associated with the air bag warning light. It came on and so I took my truck to big two Toyota in chandler az. Dealer said I had a faulty clock spring assembly that will prevent the air bag system from functioning properly and was a major safety risk. . . . So I let dealer remove and replace it for $511. 82. This should have been safety recall. . . . Please look into this issue for me and other Toyota Tacoma truck owners. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. The contact called on behalf of her mother who was driving approximately 45 mph when she lost control of the vehicle which resulted in crashing into a power pole. None of the air bags deployed. The vehicle was towed to an insurance lot and currently was at a storage yard. A police report was taken and the driver sustained injuries to her face, and her dentures shattered but did not seek medical treatment at the time of the crash. The driver attempted to go to the hospital later but there was a 5-hour wait and was not seen. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.

Truck crashed into rocks on shoulder and rolled over. Driver side windshield and roof crushed. Air bag did not deploy. Sheriff took a report of crash. Hi213530034 greenspot road. Highland , CA. Vehicle is in possession of coparts authorized by usaa insurance.
I was rear ended in my Tacoma and then hit at about 30-35mph in the front driver side. No air bags deployed anywhere in the vehicle and the driver head rest that was fully installed went flying out of the seat. Vehicle is currently waiting to be inspected by insurance representatives.
My airbag warning light went off and the horn ceased functioning as well. The dealer charged me $170 to diagnose the problem as a broken spiral cable in the steering wheel. I asked about a recall for this part as there are plenty of other Toyota models with a recall for this same part. I was told that this particular VIN was not part of any campaign (yet). Are they actually different parts on the rav4 and 4runners or the same part?? there are plenty of documented failures and testimonials about the Tacoma issue but no recall??? where does pressure need to come from to initiate one? another $575 to fix it, what is a glaring safety issue.

My 1999 Toyota Tacoma was involved in a rear end vehicle collision (the front of my vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle traveling in front of me) at a speed of approximately 40-45 mph. The roadway surface was smooth asphalt at a slight downgrade during clear/dry weather conditions on Monday 7/19/2021 at approximately 2:40 p. M. In wythe county, va. Neither the driver side nor passenger airbags deployed in this collision and the passenger side airbag switch was in the "on" position. The front end damage was considerable to include destruction of front grille with radiator and other components pushed well into the engine compartment, hood, quarter panels, windshield cracked, and right front wheel joint assembly nearly detached. *vehicle is available for inspection. *complete failure of airbag deployment. Indication of any airbag system issues with this vehicle. *vehicle component has not been inspected by anyone since collision date. Warning lamps or indicators prior to collision date. *I am the original and only owner of this vehicle since the purchase date in January, 1999. *vehicle has 329000+ miles with certain parts of the engine being rebuilt in 2017 and prior to collision vehicle was in very good shape.

My vehicle failed va inspection due to the horn not working. I have to get the spiral cable replaced per the auto repair shop. This was a recall on Tacoma's up to 2009 (recall b1801) but not my year. My year should be part of the recall. I believe this also impacts the airbag deployment from the steering wheel.

Passenger front airbag makes a rattling noise while in motion more noticeable on any uneven road.
Tl- the contact owned a 2020 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph on a snow road, he had attempted to make a left turn but due to the icy conditions, the vehicle slid off the road and into a ditch. The driver side curtain airbag deployed at an angle which hit him in the right eye and caused immediate blindness. The side curtain airbag also trapped him in between the seatbelt and the airbag. The contact was rushed to the hospital once the authorities arrived and was diagnosed with permanent right eye blindness. The contact also suffered minor abrasions to the face, the three other passengers in the vehicle sustained no injuries. A police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where his insurance deemed the vehicle a total loss upon inspection. The dealer nor the manufacturer have yet to be made aware of the failure. The vehicle was totaled. The failure mileage was approximately 3,600. Jo.
Toyota has know that the clock spring has been failing for years. They issued a recall for model years 2005-2009. Trucks in the model years 2010-2012 are also affected. Problems - loss of horn, loss of airbag. Optional if equipped - loss of cruise control and/or loss of radio controls. This is a major safety hazard! loss or horn and loss of air bags are a very, very dangerous situation!!! the clock spring fails randomly so you might not be aware until it is too late!!!.

I went to aguadilla and hormigueros dealers, but they don't want to make a job . Don't bring me a service.
Interior leaking when it rains or whenever vehicle gets wet. A health hazard, safety concern, and potential risk to passengers as well. Cause of problem is defective 3rd brake light seal. Of course Toyota make it almost impossible to easily replace the light or seal as you have to remove the interior ceiling to get to bolts. Sad I bought this vehicle new and it leaks water but since warranty just ended, they will not even think about fixing this issue. If a lawsuit results about of this count me in, hopefully a recall takes place soon because duct tape can only do so much plus who wants to drive around with duct tape on the 3rd brake light.
Previous owner removed driver airbag and seat belt harness (webbing only) due to recalls. The part that caused the recall for the seat belt is still attached to the vehicle. Local dealership will not honor recall. Contacted Toyota (case #2006093342) and they too will not honor the recall.
