Air bag light keeps showing up every couple days then it disappears I believe gm is aware but will not fix.

Airbag light came on, dashboard says service airbag, after vehicle sat for an hour after having been driven for over 250 miles that day. When the vehicle is started the light blinks as it's supposed to and goes out, then after a few seconds comes back on and stays on.

The air bag light is on and it costs $90 to diagnose the problem. It's a problem that keeps coming back even after taking it to the dealership to get it fixed. The inspectors will fail the Avalanche because they can't inspect a car with a service airbag light on, which is a problem. Many people are having this same problem and GMC should fix it for free or recall it.

The service air bag light came on and has remained on. While researching the issue it appears this is a very common issue in this truck. Due to the safety concerns and the quantity of problems, Chevrolet should be required to repair the item. They are aware of it since they sent out a service bulletin.

The service air bag light staying on in my 2005 chevy Avalanche. It use to be intermittent whenever it was raining or wet outside but now it is on steady after a rainstorm on July 18/10. I have been doing some research online and found out that it is a very common problem with the chevy Avalanche, gm as put out service bulletins about the wiring but they will not cover the repairs if your warranty is expired. I think this is a very important issue for the safety of all chevy Avalanche + other model owners that should be taken care of by gm. The airbag indicator light is on and off. Took it to serive centers the light came off for a week then came back again. Mechanic told me the spring coul needs to be replaced got it replaced but the problem is still the same. When ithe weather is cold the lights comes off when its warm the lights are one told the mechanics they said its the connection they tried to fix light will come of for a few days then back again. The second problem is the engine light - they told me its the fuel ejection pump got it replaced but not resolved. I keep taking tthe truck back to the service centers but after a week the light indicators are on. I also failed my inspections due to this problem. The only reason I pass is that it has to be fixed but after inspection the lights are on again. I have read all complaints about this problems but GMC motors doesn't have an active recall for it its just a communication stating the problem. The truck is still running but this safety issue needs to be resolved by the company. And I think thats part of the reason tgey dont make the avalance anymore.

After the vehicle was diagnosed, he was informed that the passenger side air bag was not working because the module was defective. The dealer found the sprag broke and the clutches were burnt. The front door speaker made a buzzing noise. The dealer stated it was an internal failure. Updated 10/06/08.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact has been having problems with air bags ever since last year. The air bag light illuminated every time he took the vehicle to the dealership. They said they fixed it and later the air bag light came on again. The contact took vehicle back to the dealership. The dealership told him that they put sensor on, and done something to the wiring, and every time the air bag light came on. The air bag light has been coming on since August 9, 2004. From the time that the dealer said that they repaired the vehicle was about three weeks and the air bag light came on again. Each time the vehicle was taken tot he dealer they replaced the air bag module.

At allan green Chevrolet sales dealer they tried to correct the defect three times without success. Contact took the vehicle to camino real Chevrolet, and they could not correct the problem either in two attempts. Contact decided to take the vehicle to a third dealer, osama Chevrolet, this one tried four times, and the air bags light continues to come on and off. The road conditions at every incident have been normal. Contact expressed concern about this problem because he had no confidence that the air bags system will work in case of an accident .
