Chevrolet Silverado owners have reported 5 problems related to automatic transmission cooler (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/26/2015

Design failure of transmission cooling lines. Set of three cooling lines failing at crimped joint between solid line and flexible line. This seems to be a common failure due to design, low to medium pressure lines being used in a high pressure system. Failure during operation could result in sudden loss of power or engine braking which may result in vehicle control difficulties especially on slippery roads. This is a high failure rate item according to the service tech/advisor.

3 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

I was driving home from errand running and found the brake pedal going almost to the floor. Found a puddle of brake fluid under the truck near the back of the cab and bed of truck. Called my service person and he said it was probably a ruptured brake line, and from the description of where the puddle was it was probably above the gas tank where the line is secured to the frame. He also stated that he has repaired multiple chevy trucks with the same problem. I have seen the underside of my truck and all the lines are rusted, including fuel and transmission cooling lines.
