1 Axle Hubs problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 04/20/2006

Left front hub assembly total failure. Apparently hub stayed locked in four wheel drive and destroyed hub. The failure was noted when extreme vibration and lack of steering response occurred. Failure was at 49,750 miles. Hub assemblies should last life of vehicle. Repaired at my own cost after Chevrolet refused to repair.

While driving at 25 mph consumer noticed the abs motor was continuously running, and the brake pedal was getting hard while applying the brakes. This caused extended stopping distance. The consumer stated that the left front wheel hub assembly needed to be replaced. The consumer stated that he almost had 2 accidents because abs brakes failed and will not stop the vehicle. 4 Axle Hubs problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 05/19/2004

Contact states at low speeds when the brakes are applied the vehicle lurches forward. When going at faster speeds and the brakes are applied vehicle jerks. This happens especially during the winter. The service dealer stated it was the hubs. Consumer adds the recall to replace the steering pump has made the brakes fail constantly at low speed and has caused jerking at high speeds.

5 Axle Hubs problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 06/30/1999

Excessive shimmy in the front end at approximately 60 to 65 mph. Truck has been brought back to the dealership numerous times for repair, but no repair was available. We were told when a repair was available we would be called. To date, there is no repair available. I my opinion it is a hazardous situation due to loss of control, especially in wet weather. We have no idea if the problem is causing other front end damage. The tires have been rotated and balanced, front end aligned and then we brought it back to the dealership as per bulletin #99-03-002 (replaced both front hub bearing assemblies/ right and left rear spring eye bushings, and both rear shocks).
