3 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/23/2013

Automatic transmission lines 2008 chevy Silverado with allison transmission. Factory transmission lines leak and must be replaced. When the weather turns cold, the lines/crimps holding the rubber hose to the pipes fail and automatic transmission fluid is lost, sometimes in catastrophic manner, causing the vehicle to loose propulsion. Reports of failure are extremely common, and it is not unusual, that the lines may have been replaced 3 times within the 1st 50,000 miles. Gm has issued 'new, updated' parts, but they are no better than the original parts. The new part numbers are 20759971, 20759972, 20759973. Wile repair is covered on the 36k bumper to bumper warranty, there is no coverage on the 100k warranty. Gm should replace the lines free of charge for the 1st 100k miles with a hose that will not fail. Consumers can take the original gm line to a hydraulic shop, have the rubber portion of the lines replaced with standard hydraulic hose suitable for atf fluid and there are no further failures. If consumers can fix the lines, perhaps gm can find a solution.

5 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/27/2002

The a/t hesitates coming out of a turn at 15 mph when accelerating and is slow to shift up in gears. On wet pavement the transmission catches and spins the rear wheeels causing the vehicle to go side ways. This has been annon going problem. The dealer put in a new transmission when it was only going to be serviced. I was charged $2,600. 00 for the transmission. The only problem is it does the same thing and now leaks fluid. The hotter the transmission gets, the worse it performs. The anti lock brake system does not operate evenly on the brakes. This is evident on the unusual wear to the rear brakes. On an emergency stop the rear brakes lock up. In the past the dealer said it was because there is no weight in the bed of the truck. I have battled and repaired the brake system since purchasing the truck. Finally everthing mentioned gave out, the only response from the dealer was that the truck has to many miles. Additionally I have filed a complaint with the state of California automotive consumer affairs for the concerns, false and misleading statements, writings by the dealer. The vehicle is somewhat ok on dry pavement, but loss of control on wet pavement. I did contact Chevrolet assistance in writing. They acknowledged my response, but declined to discuss the defects with the transmission and brake system.
