Early 2004 Silverado 3500 diesel. The extension housing between the transmission and the transfer case cracked due to vibration from the drive shaft u-joint failure. Technical bulletins from chev address this as a common problem. They have redesigned the parts but will not stand behind their product to repair any existing problems.

While driving the vehicle making turns left or right consumer could hear a clunking noise. Which sounded like the universal joint. Please provide any further information. Dealer replaced the intermediate steering shaft. Gm has a bulletin on how to fix this but no recall.

Universal joint broke. It was taken for repair since it was under warranty. Three weeks later the transfer case broke, and transmission went out preventing the vehicle from moving. GMC sent an appraiser to check vehicle.

Clunking noise sounding like a u-joint in both reverse and drive from first to second gears. Happens at any speeds. Two repair center/Chevrolet dealers stated this is a common noise and feeling. There was a bulletin from Chevrolet about it and there is not repair. Told that you have to live with the noise.
Owner is concerned about noise in the u-joint. Dealer service manager says that a new yoke on the drive shaft is required to fix problem. Service manager also says they have replace a lot of those and is surprised it has not been a recall item.
Accelerator pedal sticks at first start, consumer has to press down hard to get it to unstick, then vehicle will surge forward. Dealer replaced the throttle body. Consumer adds had to replaced u-joints that were making a squeaking noise.
Consumer had taken vehicle to dealer four times for noise coming from front suspension. According to dealer noise was caused by a lack of lubrication on driveline.
