Started vehicle pulled out of garage and power went out and vehicle stopped everything shut off. Wouldn't start. No power at all. Then waited about 1 minute and truck started and everything was reset, clock time. And it displayed some error on dashboard about rolling down window and it will clear system . But couldn't because about 2 hours before I drove 7 miles to pick my son up from school and got out of truck got my son and when we got back into truck put key in and turned it nothing truck wouldn't start. Nothing at all. Waited a minute tried again truck started right up. Except my window wouldn't roll down driver front window. Every other window works. This truck is barely 4 years old.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the steering icon flashed with a lock, the brake light had flashed and then various warning indicators flickered on the dashboard when the failures happened. There was an intermittent failure with an abnormal steering condition felt (seized) when the steering wheel had been turned to the left. In addition, the brakes had failed to properly function so the contact applied force to ensure that there was a complete stop. The dealer team lake road auto sales, 13988 conneaut lake rd, conneaut lake, PA 16316, (814) 382-9336 was notified of the failures, had the vehicle for longer than 3 weeks, a loaner was provided however, the contact had not received any specific technical guidelines for the repairs. The dealer released the vehicle back to the owner and the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where as a second loaner vehicle was provided however, the vehicle was given back with no repair remedy. The contact was uncertain if the failures may result in a catastrophic crash. The dealer had indicated that the vehicle was serviced before the vehicle was purchased for NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however, the contact let the dealer know several times that the remedy failed to provide a permanent fix but received no recourse from the dealership. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: pe18012 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes). The manufacturer had not issued any brake system recalls for this year, make and model but had issued 4 electrical system recalls, 2 steering recalls however the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the multiple failures to determine the guidelines to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
I have seen youtube video's/forums online about the 2009 model year silverado's instrument gauge cluster failing while driving, as well as my own. Very unsafe and scary. Happen's on startup, driving, and parked. Never know when it will do it.

Dash lights would flicker along with headlights. When you would turn the wheel, the entire dash would go out like you turned off the key and then come right back on. Sometimes the truck would die in the road and died while turning and created near misses for accidents. When the system would come back on, it would disable the steering assist and cause the steering wheel to jerk back towards center. Took the truck to the dealer with video evidence of problem and they advised there was not recalls, service bulletins or even knowledge of a problem and wanted to charge $128. 00 per hour flat rate to trouble shoot the problem. After doing some research at home, I found numerous issues with the same problems on forums and related back to a known ground issue under the dash that is labeled g218 where insulation or material is found under the ground nut creating a higher resistance. I was able to remove this material myself and correct the problem with no further issues. The scary part about this is, my daughter had the truck die on her a couple times in the middle of traffic and was almost in a wreck because of it. Gm refuses to accept their responsibility on this when it is a gm manufacture problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the instrument cluster failed to work. The contact mentioned that after putting the seatbelt on, the seatbelt warning lamp flickered as well as various warning lamps and gauges. In addition, the contact stated that there was an electrical short in which the low beam as well as the rear tail lights shorted with no warning. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

The dash instrument cluster failed and does not read a correct temperature nor does the oil gauge read correctly. The temperature gauge read that the temperature was above the highest reading on the gauge. There is a clicking sound within the instrument panel continuously. The vehicle was taken in for evaluation at a service station, they ran a diagnostic and determined that the instrument cluster is failing and its readings are not correct. It will require replacement.

When my truck is started for the first time in a day the instrument cluster will be fully operational. If the truck is shut off and restarted the instrument cluster fails to come on, no matter how many times I start and stop the truck. If the truck sits overnight and is restarted the cluster functions normally until the truck is turned off and restarted, at which time the cluster fails to come on. All gauges, tachometer, speedometer, battery, engine temperature, oil pressure odometer, fuel gauge and odometer fail to operate at all. On the rare occasion while driving the truck with a non functional instrument cluster the cluster will suddenly turn on. If I turn the truck off and restart it the cluster fails to come online. Several years ago I had a problem with the speedometer not working correctly and the chevy dealership was supposed to have replaced the instrument cluster. Now this problem is occurring. Even though the truck runs without the cluster coming on I cannot determine necessary information to safely operate my vehicle. And, as the mileage is stored in the instrument cluster, it is probably not registering mileage when it is non-functional.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that all the lights and gauges blacked out intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer however the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was repaired under a technical service bulletin (NHTSA id number: 10054229-electrical system). Immediately after the vehicle was repaired, the contact noticed a substantial reduction in fuel efficiency. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,280. . . Updated 05-09-14.
2003 Silverado 1500 instrument cluster panel all gauges went out.
We had recieved a letter for Chevrolet about a recall the milage on it was up to 150 thousand but the truck then was just about 6000 nothing was wrong 5/18/2013 the dash gauges went out the speedmeter and tachmeter failed first at about 79000 but now all the dash gauges disnot work. We love our 200 silverado truck but have know way to fix it. Lost the letter please send us one because te dealer does not want to fix it for us. Help!!!!.
My dash started out with a small crack and continued to get worse. Now my whole dash is about to fall in. When it first happened and told chevy they told me there is nothing they could do. Very disappointed since I have been driving Chevrolet's all my life. I thought it would have been covered. Cracked while driving and sitting still.
The instrument panel cluster suddenly went on our 2003 chevy silverado. GMC supposedly offered a voluntary warranty extension, but told customers not to take truck to dealers unless the issue was present. We have 86,800 miles on the truck. The odometer and battery gauge are broken. It now says we are going 20mph when we are parked! GMC made us pay $45 for diagnostic and repair will cost $415. GMC denies coverage for this issue, based on their policy regarding miles. We do not think truck will pass inspection unless we get repairs done , and we also think not knowing speed you are driving or the status of your battery could pose potential safety risks. We also want to advise others to get it done before problem occurs.
I own a 2005 chevy Silverado 1500 pkup [xxx] and have been experiencing speedometer inaccuracy readings. When the problem started, I was traveling 70 mph and the speedometer dropped to 0. Then when traveling 40-50 mph the speedometer would not exceed 20 mph. After noting the problem, I have contacted 2 local auto repairs that referred me to the gm dealer to address the problem as I was advised gm was aware of the issue (instrument cluster failure) and had issued a special coverage adjust. After contacting the local gm dealership, I was advised that I should contact gm cust svc as they were aware of the problem and unfortunately my vehicle had exceeded the mileage qualification. The dealership confirmed that they did not agree with gm's policy to only repair vehicles with 70k or less and said the issue should have been a "recall" but that gm would have had to repair all vehicles and instead they chose the course of least resistance. After dealing with 2 repair shops, dealership and gm cust svc, I was advised by gm that the repair would be my responsibility unless the dealership would agree to cover the charges of approx $700 and 2-3 days repair time. While trying to get this resolved, I was stopped by the local sheriff's dept and issued a tkt for 66 mph in a 55 mph zone at a cost of $175. I told the officer that I was only traveling 55-60 and made no attempt to slow down as I had no reason to assume that I was speeding. The long and short of the issue is this is exactly what I tld the gm customer service rep could happen and I considered it a safety issue as it appears the speedometer continues to provide inaccurate reading until I can get the matter resolved. The dealership supports my position as they are aware of my efforts to resolve the issue. I am appalled that gm is taking the same approach as Toyota in trying to minimize the problem instead of fixing the problem. Based on pending action. . . No more gm. 2005 chevy Silverado 1500 approx 92,000 tack and fuel gauge failed. Prior to 92,000 tack would intermittently jump between 0 and 2,000 rpm but return to normal shortly afterward. This started around 85,000. Now it stays at 6,000 rpm and doesn't move. Fuel gauge is a complete failure and not accurate at all.
The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the instrument clusters failed and he is unable to read any gauges on the vehicle. The dealer stated that since his warranty is not valid he has to pay $400 to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was called and a claim was filed. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 174,000.
Instrument panel cluster is going out. All gauges are stop working, one by one.
Gauges are failing on 2004 silverado, was outlined by mfgr as a defect but they will not replace it and estimate the cost of part to be in excess of $300.
Instrument cluster failed, system has tried to restart while driving and gauges stick at various indications. Mileage doesn't update. Time issue recall NHTSA.
Instrument cluster failure on 2004 chevy silverado speedometer and odometer stopped while driving dealer said it was common on these trucks and repair cost is $600 because at 38k miles my warranty has expired on this . Only the power train is still under the 7yr 70k warranty.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the instrument cluster failed. And he was unable to read the fuel gauge, speedometer or any other gauge on the instrument panel. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that the instrument cluster would only last for 80,000 miles. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. Updated 04/07/lj.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that instrument panel gauges would fail sporadically. The gauges would fluctuate to the left simultaneously indicating that the fuel tank was low, the engine was running hot and so forth. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times but never at the time when the failure was actually occurring so the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact expressed that he did not feel safe driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 100,000. Updated 5/9/11

During October of 2008, I received a letter from general motors informing me that my 2003 Chevrolet silverado was among a group of vehicles affected by potential instrument gauge problems, and that I should only bring my vehicle to a dealer for evaluation if I was actually experiencing problems with the instrument cluster. The letter went on to state that the vehicle warranty on this issue was being extended to 70,000 miles or 7 years, whichever came first. Well, at the time I received the notice, my truck had approximately 110,000 miles on it, so I was basically "out of luck" as far as gm was concerned. At that time, my vehicle was not exhibiting any of the symptoms described in the letter. However, shortly after christmas, 2008, my instrument cluster did begin to malfunction. Beginning with the tachometer not reading at all, the symptoms progressed to sporadic tachometer readings, and then the speedometer began to be affected. Right now, the speedometer can intermittently read anything from "zero" (when I am actually doing more than 50 mph) to 110 (when I am actually doing about 60 mph). When the symptoms began to occur, I called my local gm dealer to see about repairs, and I was told my vehicle was "outside of the repair window" for the courtesy repair, and when I asked how much it would cost to repair it on my own, I was told "about $500". Since the problem is (so far) very intermittent and unpredictable, and since I don't happen to have a spare $500 to spend on a serious safety problem which gm has apparently known about for some time and refuses to address beyond a very limited scope, I elected to "wait and see". But in the meantime, I have no accurate speedometer reading, and must attempt to gauge my speed by that of the other vehicles surrounding me at any given time. This is hardly an acceptable situation. I have owned many vehicles over my lifetime (I am 60 years old), and I have never had any with instrument cluster failures. Shame, shame, gm.
Speedometer and other gauges failure on 2004 Chevrolet silverado. Started approximately fall last year. Now speedometer is inoperable. Causing me to have to guess my approximate speed. G m finally sent notices to owners of affected vehicles but mine is out of warranty. This seems to be a serious problem posing possible danger to the owners and other drivers. A lot of folks will probably not be able to get this repaired soon enough or at all due to high repair costs.
The speedometer stopped working at 40,000 miles. It make a clicking sound and sometimes works but then drops to 0 miles per hour. I looked online and found hundreds of other people complaining about the same problem. The dealer said there was nothing they could do except take the entire instrument cluster out and send it away for a $500. 00 repair. General motors refuses to do anything about the problem even though it is only out of warranty 4,000 miles. It is a safety hazard because it works sometimes but is way off under the real speed.
Insterment cluster bad speed,volts,etc.
Speedometer failed at 38500 mi. On my 2004 silverado. Dealer stated instument cluster bad. Dealer fixed for $100. 00 after call to Chevrolet consumer line. Should have covered. ( instrument cluster went up on my 1999 silverado).
The only gauges working on my 04 Chevrolet z71 are the temperature and battery gauge. The other gauges went out around 40,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the windshield molding had to be replaced on the front of the vehicle. The speedometer failed, the steering column was loose, and the rear axle seal was replaced. The dashboard lights failed to illuminate and were replaced as well. The vehicle has undergone numerous electrical failures which were still occurring. The vehicle had sixteen failures, and had been taken to the dealer on nine occasions. The current mileage is 31,000, and failure mileage was 22.
Odometer, and shift indicator goes out, and you cannot tell what gear you are in or your mileage. Warrenty replaced instrument cluster a couple of years ago. But now it is happening again. I was told the cluster was bad again and needed replacing. But it goes off and stays off for a week or longer and the next thing you know its back on again. I have unplugged the connecor from the cluster and replugged it in and the cluster would work again, only for a short while. Local repair shops has told me they have been regularly replacing these clusters. This could cause accidentally placing transmission in wrong gears, causing injury and accidents.
