Chevrolet Suburban owners have reported 22 problems related to battery dead (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driving when you reach about 30-35 mph all the locks start cycling up and down, all the gauges go haywire, there is a throttle in the engine. When you turn it off sometimes it starts back up and runs fine and sometimes it won't do anything like the battery is dead and then a few minutes later it comes back on and starts back up. The last incident was 01/09/20 but this started in 12/2019. The vehicle has a brand new engine which only has about 1,000 miles on it. Also there is a crack in the dash at the corner of the passenger side air bag.

While just starting to accelerate, the radio shut off, the automatic locks started to go up and down, then the engine light came on and the engine stopped running. I put the truck in park, shut of the engine and restarted without issue 5 minutes later. Two days later, the same thing happened, only this time, when we went to restart the truck, it seemed as though the battery was dead as no dome lights would come on and the fob would not work the door locks. 3 hours later when the tow truck operator showed up, the truck started right up. This has happened 5 times since April 6th. The last time, the engine shut off as I was crossing a four lane highway. Luckily, we were not hit. Seeing multiple reports of the same issue make me think it is not unique to my vehicle. "dead battery" that isn't dead. . . "locks going up and down", "sudden deceleration". Does someone have to have an accident and be killed for anyone to take action on this issue?? why not be proactive and start investigation before someone gets killed??.

Low miles owner, garage kept, after several days of non-use, ie-paked in garage, vehicle will not start due to a dead battery. Baytown (craft) dealer could find nothing wrong. Current mileage 24k, still does same thing, if vehicle is not driven almost daily, the battery will go dead for zero reason and no one a chevy know why or what. Have had vehicle at dealer several times and nothing ever fixed.
On two recent occasions my Suburban has failed to start (battery dead). I went to an auto parts store, they tested the battery and said it was good. Why is my battery going dead? both instances are the vehicle is set on accessories and the radio was working. In both instances the battery would not turn over the engine.
Battery goes dead every third day that the truck is not used. Battery is good.
Every 4-5 months the battery goes dead. It's as if the lights or something was left on but once we get it started and check everything there has been nothing left on. After getting it started it will go another 4-5 months and be completely fine then all of the sudden it will be dead again. This has happened 5-6 times over the last three years.

Instrument cluster panel in a 2004 chevy Suburban was diagnosed by a gm dealership as defective on 3/4/2009 with 70,400miles. Oil gauge and battery gauge fails to read properly often bouncing around/fluttering around during vehicle operation. Gauges do not return to zero while vehicle is not operating. Gauge failure was noted on 2/10/2009. Gm has yet to agree to replace cluster panel though a letter was sent to gm owners regarding matter. Letter clearly states not to bring vehicle in to have cluster panel checked until there is believed to be an issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. Whenever the contact turned on the radio while the vehicle was off, she noticed that the battery would fail within a 2 - 10 minute period causing the contact to continually have to replace the battery. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced, however the contact continued to experience the failure. The current and failure mileages were 40,000.
2003 Suburban instrument cluster stopped working, speedometer is erratic, sometimes it gets stuck other times it reads extremely high also battery gauge is dead. I have found numerous web forums with countless threads dedicated to complaints on 2003 gm instrument clusters. Whole cluster must be replaced, as it is very dangerous to not know your speed.

Owner of a 2004 chevy tahoe z71 4x4 lat August 2006 my vehicle will not start after an overnight stay. Since purchasing the vehicle in may of 2004, I had to replace the speedometer. After towing my vehicle to the dealer, 5 times I was told that I had a bad intake manifold and it was causing my vehicle to not start. They replaced it. A few weeks later. About a month later my vehicle did not start. I took it back to the dealer, they claimed that they couldn't find anything wrong. 3 weeks later the problem emerged again, this time I was told that my battery was bad, they replaced it. Now this weekend of March 10, the same problem. My vehicle is dead and will not start. I am very anal about taking my vehicle for regular checkups. Why is that there is something wrong with the vehicle but the dealer cannot find or fix it. I cannot rely on y vehicle, I may go to work or to store etc. Expect to get in my vehicle to come home or even on vacation. The point is that I don't know when it is going to start or halt on me.
My 2003 Suburban would not start. I was going to jump start the vehicle and when I pulled the plastic cover off the positive terminal, the entire terminal fell out in my hand. The acid poured out of the hold and landed on my hand. The positive post on my ac delco battery failed after only 2 years, 9 months. It has a 6 year warranty. The battery was original equipment ton my 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. I contacted the Chevrolet dealer and they told me that since my warranty had expired, then the battery was not covered. I contacted ac delco and asked if they would replace or pro-rate the battery. They said no. The damage to my vehicle was from the acid leaking out of the hole where the positive terminal was. The acid from the battery ate the paint off the interior of the battery shelf. I purchased a new battery from a different manufacturer and installed it in my Suburban. In looking on the internet for similar problems, it was very easy to find others who had ac delco batteries and their positive post failed. Ac delco knows of the problem, but continues to sell a defective battery.
We bought the used vehicle Jan. 04 from dealer, day we picked it up battery dead next morning, not known at time was because dome lights were flicking on off in the middle of the night. First electrical problem was when driving at night as soon as turn on headlights, all interior lights would blow, no dash lights, no tail lights etc. We paid over 200 to have that fixed(shortage in park light behind grill replaced) still having numerous problems with interior dome light flickering on and off whenever to the point we have to take out the fuse when parked so they don't come on and drain battery. Dealers service dept. Can't find problem, taken in numerous times and pay for labor to find nothing. . Abs brakes are kicking in when you try to stop at the stop sign, numerous times I have almost rear ended someone due to not being able to stop. I can not believe with so many people having problems with electrical and abs brakes, that chevy does not do a recall. . I am very disappointed with Chevrolet and will never buy another chevy again if this is there quality.

Consumer applied brakes at 15 mph and pedal went to floor, brake light on dash came on, and hit vehicle in front. Dealer said no brake pad was left on brake. Then, brake pads wore down to half. Vehicle still at dealer. The brake failed completely resulting in accident. The consumer indicated that the manufacturer was aware of brake problem and has changed braking system for 2000 and 2001 models, but made no recall of this vehicle. The battery failed twice.
Complaint concerns car batteries. In the past three years I have had battery failures with two batteries less than a year old, a delco original equipment on a 1996 Chevrolet car & the 2nd a everstart walmart replacement battery. Battery failures in traffic stalled vehicle.

Ea00 013/battery leaks acid: battery leakage from positive post resulted in loss of power. Manufacturer contacted. The battery failed again and was replaced by a new one.
Whenever brakes are in use vehicle can slow up, but fails to stop right away. Stopping distance is increased. Had hit a wall & a fence due to a lack of braking power. Vehicle equipped with abs which was not the problem. Brake pedal went to the floor. Also, parking brake went to floor. Taken vehicle to dealership at least 6 or 7 times. Now pursuing the lemon law. Battery failed. Vehicle stalled. Exhaust leaks and is loud. Air comes through the center vent when the floor control is on. 4-wheel drive would not engage due to a short in the module. Fuel sending unit was replaced.

Consumer has several problems with vehicle: front end pulls to the right and left while driving, there are front end alignment problems, it has been aligned, however still pulls to the right and left. Engine is burning antifreeze, when checked shortly after vehicle was serviced the oil was down 2 quarts, vapor recovery tank was empty, antifreeze/water level in antifreeze in radiator was down 1 quart, head gaskets leaking antifreeze into the combustion chamber and burning the antifreeze, check engine light illuminated, coolant level in radiator dropped once the engine was started, there was a minute amount of exhaust gases coming out of the filler neck of the radiator and the water level slowly dropped in the radiator. Vehicle pulls drastically to the left while braking, dealer has replaced brake pads and rear shoes and has refaced rotors and drums, pulling still exists, dealer also replaced the proportioning valve. Transmission makes a ticking noise. A specialist looked at vehicle and observed that when the engine was started, it charges at 15. 1 volts direct current which is overhcarging the batter, even after vehicle ran for 15 minutes, the vehicle was still charging at 14. 71 volts, the battery has failed 4 times, it has leaked and corroded, check gauges light came on and all gauges went crazy. Vehicle idles high, dealer replaced idler air control valve. Driver side mirror will not turn side to side, dealer replaced faulty mirror switch.
Battery failure resulting in positive terminal pulling out of battery and acid spilling on air conditioning and brake lines. Replaced batery and connections came loose and truck shutdown completely. This has happened on three occasions. The terminals have been cleaned each time and truck will run fine. Initial failure resulted in batery acid spilling on inner fender and brake lines. Problem was found before acid ate through brake lines and air conditioning lines. During other failures battery terminal has not pulled out of baterry but positive terminals have had corrosive build up causing truck to shut down completly. After pulling connections loose and cleaning then truck functions fine for a few months then it will happen again. This poses a seriuos condition due to lack of warning .
Battery failed. Yh.
