For the past 4 years I have owned a 2003 Suburban 1500 z71. 3 of those years I've had a/c problems. We have replaced everything and anything that has to do with a/c. Thousands of dollars and now something else has come up. Driver side hot air blows out and passenger side cold air comes out. We don't know what to do with this Suburban anymore. I have friends with Suburbans and have the exact same problems with it,what can we do?.

Noticed a strong smell of antifreeze from outside the vehicle after turning it off. Then began to notice fluid leaking from under right rear quarter behind the wheel. Took vehicle to webb Chevrolet. Diagnosis was faulty coolant lines running into other lines forcing a leak of coolant. I wasn't to clear on diagnosis, but they had to order parts and we lost the vehicle for 3 days.
While driving at any speed steering wheel stuck. When this occurred it felt like driving without power steering assist. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the power steering pump. Also water and fuel pumps were replaced.

The intake gasket fails after about 4 years of service. I am told that it is due to the poor design of the gaskets and the extended life anti-freeze used in the vehicle. The failure of the gasket allows anti-freeze to mix with the oil which can cause damage to the engine if not detected. This is a fairly common problem. I personally know of 3 failures of this gasket. The anti-freeze also degrades some fittings that go into the intake.

1999 Chevrolet Suburban. As of 4/28/04 with only 47k miles, a/c compressor defective & dealer will not replace in spite of several attempts to repair before warranty expired, as soon as 3 months after purchase in October of 2002. Replaced brakes 3 times at our expense. Dealer (bob neill pontiac in winston-salem, nc refused to repair under warranty), steering problems, attempted repair, again at our expense. Replaced door locks and window mechanism's at our cost. Total piece of junk. Will never buy from bob neill pontiac in winston-salem, nc again & will never buy another gm product. Just bought entire fleet (6 trucks) from chevy. Dealer n kernersville, nc). Waiting with baited breath for the entire lot to break down. Completely disgusted with gm.

Our ase mechanic states they have replaced ~35-40 similar chev Suburban radiator failures in past 24 months in their shop (documentation on request). These have been associated with water pump failures, intake manifold leaks and occ. Head gasket failures when coolant has leaked over engine. Among ase mechanics in our area this is a well-know, "lemon" design failure which will cost me $900 to repair.

Transmission failure at 32000 miles - radiator replaced at 54000 - water pump- differential and transmission mounts replaced now driver side door will not open from inside and windshield wipers do not work .
We have a 1999 chevy Suburban. It now has 80k miles on it. We are on water pump #5. It has always had coolant leak problems. It was always blamed on the water pump. Now I have been informed that the coolant is leaking from around the intake. Gm knows of this problem. It has to do with electrolisis between the cast iron engine block and the aluminum intake. We had an extended warranty through 72k miles, but this problem was never fixed. I would have a hard time convincing myself to buy another gm vehicle. . .
Anti lock brakes pulsate at low speed on dry pavement. Engine intake manifold coolant leak.

I had problems with the brakes once. They just filled up the brake fluid. 2nd time they replaced the master cylinder. I had problems with the electrical. They said it was the wiring harness at the engine. I had problems with the air conditioning . Took it in two or three times for that. They replaced some switches . Then had to take it in again and they replaced the rear airconditioner. We purchased this truck to pull a 20 ft trailer the trailer weighs 4200 lb. The Suburban has a 3. 73 differential and the trailering pkg. Plus post traction or whatever thety call it now! we went on a vacation in Nov. Planning on being home the 1st of the year. Our !st differential broke outside of frederick MD. It was replaced. Upon trying to return home the 2nd differential broke! it was replaced in louisville ky. Continuning our venture home. The 3rd differential went out in mobile ala. They gave me a very difficult time. Told me it was my fault. I was either going too fast of the trailer was too heavy. Neither acusations were true! upon finally arriving home (almost) the 4th differential went out and replaced. I have lost all faith & trust in this vechicle. Am scared to death to take it on the road. My husband is 67 years old and has dreamed of his retirement all his life. Now we are stuck with a Suburban we don't dare take on the road for fear of it breaking down again. Chevrolet refused to do anything about it. The garage we purchased it from has been very nice. However, they also have been no help in this issue! any help you can give pertaining to Chevrolet replacing my Suburban wouyld be greatly appreciated.
