While driving Suburban on a long trip over 2 hot days, engine quit without warning once each day after many hours of driving (5 people with luggage, no trailer). First day occurrence was after driving in city traffic with many stoplights but speed was about 60 mph at the time and quickly lost power and died. Second day was at sustained 70+mph and quit suddenly. Both times needed to pull over and turned off for a minute after failures and restarted on 2nd try and continued on for another 20+ miles before stopping for the day (first day) and stopping for dinner (2nd day). Fuel in gas tank was half full on first day and 3/4 on second day. This vehicle exhibited same failure numerous times 2 years previously on hot day pulling trailer.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving 35 mph, the contact released the accelerator pedal and the rpm's decreased to 1,000. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would clunk forward. The vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealer, but the failure remains. The current mileage was 13,000 and failure mileage was 11,638.

: the contact stated while driving 20 mph, the check engine and the traction control light illuminated constantly. The engine then lost the majority of power and would not accelerate. The vehicle was moved to the side of the road, and was shut off. The vehicle was restarted after 10 minutes and driven to a residence. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to determine the problem. The manufacturer was also notified.

#5 cylinder 1164 misfires. Collapsed lifter, broken rings. The dealership went on fishing expedition, charging me $271. 82 for unnecessary work (new spark plug and wires). Went for second diagnoses, correctly diagnosed this time indicating the above. Mechanic contacted gmpp (extended warranty),told gmpp that the engine should be replaced. The mechanic was advised to tell me to return to dealership for service.

: the contact stated while traveling at various speeds, the reduced engine power alarm rings and the engine immediately loses power. The power returns after the vehicle is turned off and back on. The dealership rewired the vehicle, replaced the modulator, sensor and relay. These attempts have not repaired the problem.

The brakes failed to engage at 40 mph. I stopped the vehicle with the emergency brake and began pumping the brakes. This has happened 4+ times. Dealer said it was normal. Engine misfires on all eight cylinders, this is also normal per dealer. Stearing jumps when turning they have tried to fix it and it is a little better. After dealer tried to fix vehiclel I lost about 2 mpg and had a reduced amout of power. Vehicle failed emmissions test and dealer said he would pass it.

Coolant light comes on while driving, and when driving 200 miles or more the light comes on again. Dealer replaced the engine because anti-freeze got into the engine through a head gasket.
