Failure Date: 05/20/2019

The 2015 Chevrolet Suburban that I drive power goes out when I am turning into a parking space, making a sharp turn, and try to come to a quick stop. This happens every time I am driving. It also delays to turn off when I am parked. It sounds like it's trying to crank up on a low gas level. Sometimes when I am at a light and try to press on the gas, it stalls like it's trying to get gas.

3 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

Feb. 15 , 2019 transmission went out in car. Brought car earlier in the year because it was jerking but they said it was normal. Went out of town and transmission went out at 93,721 miles. Extended warranty went out on Feb. 14, 2019. Only hours before and no company would help! we paid 5,000 for a replacement and noticed that my dash had a crack in it after being repaired. Chevrolet company said they didn't do it. Now the dash is almost cracked all the way to my steering wheel. I understand the wear and tear of any vehicle, but for the warranty to go out hours before hand was unbelievable. Plus, the repair man that installed my transmission said my motor drinks oil. Yes, we know that. He explained to us why and said that chevy should have replaced my motor when we brought it in during our bumper to bumper warranty. We no longer use chevyland because of their lack of service department. I will say that chevy needs to build better door rests. Every time I push open my door or close it, the handle area is broke in half. Its a thin piece of plastic and its not worth paying an arm and leg to fix it. Needs to be a piece of metal.

My 2008 chevy Suburban with 94,000 miles stalled while in traffic travelling at about 20 mph without warning. I luckily was able to coast it to the side of the road and after letting it sit for a short time it did restart again but only to stall again after the car ran for another 5 minutes again traveling at about 20 mph. I had it towed to my dealership and have been told that my crankshaft position sensor has failed. While my VIN and year is not covered, there is an active recall on this condition (gm recall no. 06083. ). This is a very dangerous issue to have especially when traveling with small children in the car. The recall should be extended to other years who experience this issue for the safety of families.

9 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/25/2014

The vehicle completely stalls and loses all power. It usually happens when you run the vehicle on the highway and have to come to a stop after exiting. In my case I drove the vehicle for an hour and half and exited the express way. Once, I exited and slowed down to come to a complete stop the engine starts to run rough and just before you completely stop it stalls out. This has happened at least sevne times on a 1400 mile trip. It even happens when you come to a stop behind other cars. You can put it in park or neutral and the vehicle will restart.

10 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

The vehicle had approximately 3500 miles when returned to dealership. The primary issue was "running rough. " the vehicle was in the repair shop over five weeks. In three incidents picked up the vehicle when it was supposedly fine. Within minutes the cecile stalled and starting to shutter. Warning indicators include engine and transmission system, emission system, stabilitrack stability control system, and antilock braking system. Vehicle unsafe to drive. The 2015 Suburban was newly designed. Repair bulletins were issued. Vehicle recently picked up and still "runs rough. " the vehicle handles differently as it shifts from v4 to v8 (fuel economy design) when slowing. This makes the vehicle handling inconsistent depending what mode it is operating and can be unsafe. Other potential safety issues when raining, the rear camera (backup) is not functional. Also, when starting in reverse, there is an extended period the "computer is loading" and their is no input although your backing up. In essence, the rear backup warning system is not functional.

18 Car Stall problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/29/2011

I have a 2001 chevy suburburban that completely stalled out, (sept 29,2011) when I was getting ready to transport my four young children to school. Please note, that I'm in an area that is not accessible by public transportation. This means that when my car is down, I'm at the mercy of friends and neighbors which is quite an inconvenience. I hired a service guy to diagnose the problem and he said it was a problem with the crankshaft. While ordering the part, he was notified that the part was on a recall list. I checked the website NHTSA. Gov to verify and the recall #07v521000 did exist. I contacted the chevy dealer (nash Chevrolet) in snellville and was told that my VIN# was not in the batch and if they serviced it, the cost would be $2500. I contacted the manufacturer and was told that my problem could be attributed to wear and tear. I would like to know if there is any possibility to get the dealer to repair my car and if it's possible to have the investigation reopened and the scope adjusted to include all 2001 Suburbans that are nonconforming. I would like to also know, how does gm/chevy determine which customers deserve to be safe on the road, and why weren't all their qualifying consumers notified. Is gm above the law? how is it that gm is not allowed to comply to these federal laws after an investigation has been conducted? does gm only respond to their customers if their is death and dismemberment or if litigation is involved? please advise.

19 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/13/2010

While driving on the freeway my 2002 Suburban with a 5. 3l flex fuel equipped vehicle just would stall with out warning and cause me to lose all power steering and other item related to the engine running. I have to wait for the vehicle to cool down before being able to restart it. No code would show on the on board computer and after looking at other recalls it pointed to the crankshaft position sensor going bad. I am going to change it out in the morning. I have read others having this same issue in this year model and think chevy should do something about it.

21 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 04/07/2010

While traveling on busy street, our 2002 Chevrolet Suburban suddenly was without power. Pressing on accelerator did nothing and vehicle completely stalled when brake was applied. This left us attempting to navigate from busy street with our three kids in the car with no power steering or brakes! we were 140 miles from home and when we attempted to drive back home, this problem occurred again. This time on busy four lane road with lots of traffic. The vehicle stalled out again leaving us on side of busy road at on ramp location. This was not first time that this has occurred. We have had 5 other incidences with this vehicle. Gm is no help. They act like they have never had any reports of such problems, yet many can be found online. We had our vehicle towed to an independent repair center since the gm dealership repair shop was more interested in telling us that they couldn't fix it on that day but they did have a rental car service on lot. I hope that soon attention will be given to this obvious defect in this vehicle before someone is killed. But then again that is what it took for attention to be given to Toyota problems. Please take action for this matter before lives are lost!!!!.

23 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

I have a 2007 Suburban that consumes approx 1 qt of oil every 800 miles. At 1200 miles/qt the dealer told me this was "normal consumption". I went to another dealer that confirmed the 800 miles/qt and is installing new pistons and rings next week. Apparently this is not a fix but should help with consumption until a permanent fix is made by gm.

24 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/15/2009

My 2002 k2500 Suburban engine dies abruptly while driving, with no warning (neither sputtering nor messages on the dash). After pulling over to the shoulder and waiting between a few seconds and a few minutes, the engine will start. This happens at random times at any speed. Needless to say, this is an extreme safety hazard, as all power to steering and brakes is lost when the engine dies. These random stalls have been increasing in frequency over the last couple years. My car only has 36,000 miles - mostly highway driving. Apparently lots of people have experienced this potentially deadly condition. Is gm just going to wait for people to get killed before they issue a recall on this?.

25 Car Stall problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/10/2009

Beginning in August 2009 my 01 chevy Suburban would stall while I was driving. After the first time, a new battery was installed. This happened 2 more times from mid August 09 to 9/15/09 at which time we brought the truck in for service. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and we brought the truck home. About a week later, it happened again and then 3 more times between 9/15 and 10/15/09. During this period we found a recall notice (gm recall no. 06083) for a crankshaft sensor covering 2001 Suburbans, but not my particular vehicle. The recall detailed the exact problem I was having. The truck was brought into the dealer on 10/15/09 and I insisted that the crankshaft sensor be replaced. To date, there have been no further problems with the vehicle and I believe that the crankshaft sensor was the cause of the stalling.

26 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/17/2008

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 2500. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the brakes would pulsate and increase stopping distance. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling) and 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who replaced the crank shaft sensor. The vehicle was not repaired for the brake failure. The failure mileage was 113,204. Djr.

27 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

I have a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 4 wd with an 8. 1 liter engine with 67,000 miles on it. It has stalled out 5 times over the last 6 months, nearly causing a serious crash on the second to last one on interstate route 80 outside of sparta, new jersey. The engine just stops and I have no control over the vehicle. I have taken it to two mechanics who have not been able to repair it. I am afraid to drive the vehicle. What should I do and where should I go to get this fixed. It is a life safety issue not only for me, but my family and horses when we haul horses for our equestrian activities. Can you imagine the disaster this would be with people and horses on the highway if the vehicle stops dead!!??.

28 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/27/2007

Vehicle would stall while driving without warning at all different speeds including highway speeds. Vehicle would sometimes stall 3 times per day, and sometimes not at all in a day. Loss of power steering and power brakes resulted which sometimes presented a challenge to safely get the vehicle off the highway or roadway while coasting to a stop. Stalls occured several times while towing a 5000 pound boat and also occured while towing a 9000 pound camper trailer. Two dealers looked at the vehicle and reported finding no cause for the stalling. I found an automotive internet discussion forum where many other people reported the same problem with the 8. 1l engine. Many of these people reported that the crankshaft position sensor was the cause, and that replacing the crankshaft position sensor would fix the problem. I took the vehicle back to the dealer to have the sensor replaced, and the vehicle has not stalled at all since the sensor was replaced.

29 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/30/2006

On multiple occasions my 2002 Chevrolet Suburban stalled while driving on the freeway. After several minutes the truck would restart. The chevy dealer said there was nothing they could do since they would not be able to duplicate the condition. It does not trigger a check engine signal. It usually happens after long periods of freeway driving with no warning. This is not a low fuel issue. I suspect it is a crank position sensor failing after researching the issue on the internet.

30 Car Stall problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/30/2006

: the contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled completely. The vehicle was put in park, and was able to be restarted. It was taken to a service dealer, however the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified.

Bought a used 01 Suburban on 9/10/06 it has 826000 miles on it. The day after I bought it driving down the road 30 mph, the truck stalled. I put it in neutral, still rolling and attempted to restart 2 or 3 times. It finally started. It has also done it at a dead stop at the bank drive through. This time it didn't restart until I pulled the key and reinserted it and it started. As of today 9/19/06 it has done it at least 7 times. I took it to Chevrolet they said possible crank position sensor?.

32 Car Stall problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 03/12/2006

My 2001 Suburban has stalled in traffic twice. I was able to turn the ignition off and then restart the engine both times. I have experienced trouble starting the car as well. Problem goes away if the ignition is switched off and on several times. I am very concerned about the stalling in traffic. The vehicle is large and difficult to control without power steering and brakes. It is also very dangerous to be stalled in rush hour traffic.
