I have contacted both gm and gm's local authorized dealership in concord, California. Both refused to honor this recall. Please help before an accident occurred. Thank you.

9 Engine Stall problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/02/2010

My Suburban goes to reduced power unexpectantly and the engine will stall causing a loss of power steering and control of the vehicle. My Suburban has been taken in to the dealer I purchased the vehicle from on five occasions and the dealer is unable to fix the problem. . The most recent time was 9/1/2011. It went to reduced power 10 miles after leaving dealership and stalled as I pulled out into traffic from a restaurant. A number of cars had to brake excessively and swerve around me until I could angle my Suburban off the road without power steering. The truck weighs 6700 lbs and I needed all my strength to turn the wheel enough to get off the road. I am fearful about driving my Suburban and the high probability of injury to myself or others.

11 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 02/08/2009

Engine stalls while driving at random times, approximately every 80 miles. Engine will start back after a wait of more than 30 seconds. The engine will stall while hot or cold, idling or driving at any speed.

12 Engine Stall problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/05/2008

Car stalled suddenly at 40 mph, losing power steering in traffic. After a few minutes the car restarted. Intermittently stalls. While gm has recalled 2001 Suburbans for crank position failures in this year model, my particular VIN number was not covered by the recall. I purchased replacement part and corrected the problem. Gm refused to reimburse. Very dangerous situation. No wonder gm is in decline with the lack of response to a very strange and dangerous engine stall with absolutely no warning.

13 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/22/2008

I recently purchased a 2002 Chevrolet 2500 Suburban with an 8. 1l engine. After only a week it would suddenly stall at different highway speeds. It did this 3 times in one week. I then discovered the problem was the crankshaft positioning sensor, which has been recalled on 2001 models. Why has this part not been recalled on the 2002 model it has the exact same defective sensor from the factory as the 2001 had. This failure creates a very dangerous situation in an SUV of such size. When the engine stalls there is no power brakes or power steering, and hopefully you have enough momentum to get out of the way of traffic.

14 Engine Stall problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/15/2008

I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 8. 1 l. 3/4 ton. The engine would stall while driving without warning. It has happened many times including in the middle of an intersection and on the freeway going at freeway speeds including hauling a trailer. When this occurs power steering and power brakes are lost with hopes of being able to coast to the side of the road without getting hit. Found NHTSA recall # 07v521000 and gm # 06083. This recall described my vehicles problem exactly. Took vehicle into dealership mentioning recall, our VIN # is not affected. Diagnostic showed crankshaft position sensor failure exactly like the recall. Gm would not cover any expenses because VIN was not included in recall. After reviewing other complaints, I see that there are others who have had the same issue and VIN #'s were excluded from the recall. This recall should be expanded to included a wider range of VIN #'s or at least investigated further. Too much of a coincidence and too dangerous of a situation to let this go.

15 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 02/13/2008

2002 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 with 8100 engine stalls unexpectedly at any speed. Vehicle starts back after a few minutes.

16 Engine Stall problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/25/2007

The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 2500. The contact stated that the crankshaft position works intermittently or fails completely. When the sensor operates intermittently, the ses indicator illuminates and the vehicle drives roughly. When the engine stalls, it restarts immediately or after a cool down period. The current mileage was 69,000 and failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 3/3/09.

17 Engine Stall problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/20/2007

While still accelerating after entering freeway traffic from a gently ascending freeway on ramp, this 1999 Chevrolet Suburban (100k miles) very suddenly began to loose power and shake (not vibrate) violently. Although the engine did not completely stall, the vehicle decelerated very quickly, and there was a clear sensation that power steering and power brakes were becoming inoperable. This was very dangerous, as this freeway on ramp leads directly onto the #1 lane of the freeway, and there was no shoulder. An odbii code scanner indicated code p0300 (multiple cylinder misfire). The vehicle was towed to a gm dealership who advises that a valve stem has broken in cylinder 5. Repairs have been quoted at $2000 to $3000 on a vehicle touted as "heavy duty" who's primary use is taking toddlers school and grocery shopping. The vehicle remains un-repaired because of the cost. This is inexcusable at a mere 100k miles.
