Brake pedal almost to floor, extremely long time to stop. No warning just driving in columbus traffic and lost brakes. Found master cylinder almost empty. Brake lines rusted through left side drivers floor/frame rail area. Dealer estimate $1200 to$1600. Seems to be a common problem as on line investigation verifies. 2 Underbody Shield problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/20/2007

Frame failed in rear of truck. Failure was discovered at low speed before it was catastrophic. Failure at high speed would have been. Truck was pulling trailer. New quarter-frame is now being installed.

3 Underbody Shield problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 03/15/2003

The heat shield was defective. While driving, the engine compartment and underbody of vehicle became extremely hot. Which caused the shield to expand. The dealer installed a strap around the shield, however the problem still existed.

4 Underbody Shield problem of the 1996 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 04/01/2000

Metal right front inner fender shield has been rubbing against high pressure refrigerant line causing the line to fail, releasing all a/c refrigerant to the atmosphere. Air conditioner is now inop preventing proper operation of windshield defog.
