Chevrolet Suburban owners have reported 128 problems related to dashboard crack (under the structure category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
We received an important safety recall to replace the airbag inflator (NHTSA recall number 21v051). After taking our vehicle to the dealer, we were told that if we want the recall then we have to pay to replace our dashboard (over $1,000). The dashboard has a crack which is a common and well-known defect of gm Chevrolet trucks from 07-14, but it is not part of the airbag recall. And now, gm hides behind a so-called "cosmetic" issue in our dashboard to avoid compliance with the recall. Gm is not acting in good faith to remedy the defective airbag in our vehicle. We feel very unnerved to drive a vehicle with a bad airbag that gm refuses to fix without great expense. Others are likely facing the same issue for this recall.

Cracked dashboard in several areas.
There are 2 large cracks on the dashboard one running longitudinally on axis of steering column and another spreading forward toward driver side on forward driver corner of passenger airbag cutout radiused corner. I was warned after I purchased vehicle that it was a safety hazard in event of airbag deployment. I am reporting the date as the date I purchased vehical but crack was present prior to that date for an undetermined period of time.

The dash is cracking like so many others of this model. My Suburban has always been garage or carport kept and there is no reason the dash should be cracking. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

Since I bought this vehicle back in 2014 the paint on the exterior has been flaking also the traction light and stabilitrak comes on and off the interior as well has had major issues suck as cracking of dashboard and seat I had to do an transmission job after 4 years , airbags sensor going on and off.
Dashboard has cracked in two places. It is an expensive repair that chevy will not stand behind. In the event of airbag deployment small pieces of plastic could fly and injure occupants.
The dash has cracked in 2 places - above the instrument panel and above the passenger side air bag. The potential for flying shards from the dash into persons after deployment of the passenger air bag is high. I request a recall to correct. My wife's 8 year old Toyota sienna's dash was recalled for the same reason.
Dash cracked and totally inploded. Loose parts everywhere. These parts fly everywhere when moving vehicle. Airbag loose and probally could implode without wrecking accident. Definately a hugh safety factor. Maybe nahta would like to drive my vehicle with couple top execs from gm over country roads and Dodge loose scraphnel. 05/07/2019.
After owning the vehicle over 5 years, the dashboard started to crack. After researching a fix, I discovered a lot of owners of my type of vehicle are experiencing the same problem in the same locations.

Feb. 15 , 2019 transmission went out in car. Brought car earlier in the year because it was jerking but they said it was normal. Went out of town and transmission went out at 93,721 miles. Extended warranty went out on Feb. 14, 2019. Only hours before and no company would help! we paid 5,000 for a replacement and noticed that my dash had a crack in it after being repaired. Chevrolet company said they didn't do it. Now the dash is almost cracked all the way to my steering wheel. I understand the wear and tear of any vehicle, but for the warranty to go out hours before hand was unbelievable. Plus, the repair man that installed my transmission said my motor drinks oil. Yes, we know that. He explained to us why and said that chevy should have replaced my motor when we brought it in during our bumper to bumper warranty. We no longer use chevyland because of their lack of service department. I will say that chevy needs to build better door rests. Every time I push open my door or close it, the handle area is broke in half. Its a thin piece of plastic and its not worth paying an arm and leg to fix it. Needs to be a piece of metal.
Dash has continued to crack - over 4 cracks that has affected the defrost vent, dash and now I receive periodic airbag warnings upon starting ignition and/or parking. I am concerned as a driver, mother of 3 and caregiver of elderly mom that the air bags will deploy at anytime and/or not function correctly upon a crash or collision.
3 large cracks on dash. Going from windshield to dash. If I ever need to have work done under dash, dash will fall apart. 3 cracks appeared for no know reason.
Dashboard plastic is cracking in multiple spots. Nothing specific happened to cause this damage other than normal vehicle use.
Cracking dashboard poses a safety threat to people inside the vehicle as well the driver in lack of deployment of the front airbags. Has happened on multiple vehicles of this year.
"takata recall" the dashboard has cracked in several places and over the course of a few months, has completely broken over the instrument cluster. This is a safety hazard as I am afraid other pieces will fly out in the event of an accident. My family and I have been faithful customers of gm since the 50's but I am strongly considering another brand since gm does not honor or offer to fix repeated problems by its owners.

The dashboard has cracked, starting towards the windshield and travelling towards the steering wheel. There was no impact, it has cracked on it's own over time. The manufacturer would not fix it under warranty.
The dashboard has cracked right next to airbag on passenger side. No accident involved. Unknown when it occurred (aka while driving or stationary). It occurred in the last week. If airbag deploys shards of plastic may become shrapnel. This vehicle only has 39k miles on it.
The dash board is cracked around the airbag posing a hazard if deployed.
Dashboard has crack above gauge cluster on driver side and also cracked on passenger side at corner of airbag area. With dashboard crack near airbag I believe it could send shards of sharp plastic at passenger if airbag were to go off.
Dashboard cracked above instrument panel and above passenger airbag. This occurred when vehicle was stationary. There was no slow progression of the cracking, just one day entered vehicle and found very large cracks in dash at points above instrument cluster and passenger airbag area.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the dashboard has been cracked for three years and now there are holes on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer in la quinta, CA for a repair estimate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-222-1020 and stated that the VIN was not part of a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
2 cracks across the dashboard this has to be from defective plastic made in manufacturing the dashboard.
Cracked dash over instrument cluster, stationary nothing happened to cause it.
Dashboard is cracking and non-repairable. My research finds that this issue has happened to a vast number of 2007-2014 gm vehicles, that dealerships and gm are refusing to fix the dashboards, and that the dashboards continue to break down, creating more potential for hazard.
The dashboard is cracking above the steering wheel and also on the passenger side near the airbag.
The dashboard is cracking and im worried it will affect airbag. It continues to get looser by the day.
Dash 2 cracks. One above steering column and one at the top left of airbag.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the dashboard began to crack in multiple areas. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. The VIN was unavailable.
