When coming to a stop antilock fires noisily then the brake pedal goes to the floor and vehicle keeps rolling forward (in traffic- into buildings- into fences- onto curbs) antilock brakes are failing and making the system not work properly.

The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated the brakes seemed to fail whenever they tried to stop the vehicle on a bumpy surface. The contact stated the anti-lock braking system failed when the road was not even. Recall campaign id number: 05v379000 (services brakes: hydraulic anti-lock) repair was performed in 2005, but the failure recurred. The contact did not have the vehicle inspected, but stated the stopping distance and lack of brake response was the same as it was when the original recall was performed. 3 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving 5 mph downhill and approaching a stop, the antilock brakes pushed back on the contact's foot. The vehicle became difficult to stop and another vehicle nearly crashed into the contact's vehicle. The dealer repaired the brakes under NHTSA campaign id number 04v045000 (service brakes, hydraulic). When the failure occurred a second time, the dealer had a technician inspect the vehicle. It was discovered that the antilock brakes failed and the vehicle was repaired at the cost of $200. The failure mileage was 53,000 and current mileage was 59,000. Updated 10/16/08 updated 10/20/08.

4 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/05/2006

Anti-lock braking ebcm failure, this module was replaced in may of 06 and has now failed again in September 06. One day the anti-lock warning light comes on along with the traction lock light. The cost to replace is in excess of $1000.

Dad*: the contact stated the vehicle has increased stopping distance, and the antilock brakes activated at low speeds. The vehicle has not been seen by a dealer. Antilock brakes failed. The vehicle has increased stopping distance,activated at low speeds. There was NHTSA recall campaign 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The vehicle had the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, it was not included in the recall due to the VIN.

Saw your recent article re defective anti-lock brakes. I have had, on numerous occassions, incidents where the anti-lock brakes failed and caused my vehicle to roll much further than normal. These incidents seem to happen if I am applying brakes and either hit a pothole or bump in the roadway while braking.
