36 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 07/01/2005

Contact complained about abs brake failure. . At low speeds when the brakes were applied they failed. There was pulsation within the front end of the vehicle when the brakes were applied. This resulted in extended stopping distances. There have been no warning lights illuminating and indicating there was a problem within the abs braking system. A local service technician cleaned the abs sensor. This did not remedy the problem. The service dealer stated they will have to replace the abs sensor and replace the wheel speed sensor. Consumer disconnected the abs fuse. Consumer has not contacted the manufacturer. There was a recall for abs brakes in canada.

37 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 06/30/2005

Constant activation of abs brakes due to corrosion between the front hub/bearing assembly and/or the speed sensor being defective. This issue is being addressed by gm on some vehicles but they won't fix mine because they say it's not in the VIN number range. The problem is very real and very dangerous. It started almost 12 months ago, and I was told to wait for the state of wisconsin to be added to the recall list, they have added wisconsin but have selected certain VIN numbers only that the bulletin applies to.

38 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 10/01/2004

The consumer complained about abs brake problem. At low speeds when trying to stop the brakes stuck as if activated. This resulted in extended stopping distance. Consumer called dealer, and dealer indicated that wheel speed sensors were corroded due to road salt. Consumer has not contacted Chevrolet/gm. Dealer would not perform repairs because there was no recall.

39 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 07/13/2002

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer on four occasions. While driving 10 mph, the abs activates unexpectedly. The risk of a serious crash or injury was increased. The vehicle was repaired twice according to NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:anti lock). In addition, the wheel speed sensor was replaced. All of the remedies have been insufficient to date. The manufacturer did not assist. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 108,000.
