Keeps loosing power and staking while driving the brakes calipers are malfunctioning the fuel control module is being effective see there was a safety recall on this but my vehicle is listed dmfor make and model but not VIN but it's effective.

Hard metal brake line failure during emergency, high pedal pressure, stop. No injuries. The vehicle was unable to avoid entering an intersection, as the lead car. Braking was firm, before pedal descended steadily toward the floor. Pumping provided some friction, but was unable to restore a minority of the system's capacity. The failure was a hole developed in the line, along its path to the passenger front brake caliper. The brake lines showed alarming corrosion levels, which while potentially understandable for a 13 year old northeast outdoor winter truck, was a symptom of catastrophic potential.

Travelling north on state route 741 with my family of 6. We began to slow for stopped traffic on a slight downhill grade. At once the brake pedal went to floor without warning and when I applied emergency brake the bracket fastening it to the frame broke as well. The truck was gaining speed without any brakes at all. I put it into a ditch doing 60 mph. It took me 1. 5 miles to finally get the truck stopped. Took it to a garage they replace all brake lines two rear calipers, master cyclinder, and hydro boost canister. How do all these parts fail at the exact same time and the emergency brake bracket break away from frame trying to stop vehicle? apparently the size of the vehicle is to much for the emergency brake system to effectively stop this vehicle. I am told by a dealer this is a frequent issue with gm vehicle. I am very mad about this incident and putting my family at risk. This vehicle was at Chevrolet dealer in bellefontaine ohio 11 months ago for a full inspection and nothing was found except an inner tie rod that needed replaced. How??? withouot prior warning can all these components in a brakeing system fail at the exact same time. There was zero evidence of tampering and truck mileage is below national average. Maintenance has been kept up to date. Seriously concerned owner!.

I on 8/30/2013 noticed a very soft brake pedal and drove home carefully. I did not drive the car the next day out of concern for the brakes. I tested the brakes on Sunday and found I had no brakes. The truck was towed to a repair facility on 9/2/2013. Inspection of the system shows all brake lines need replacement. Three have failed and the others when moved to allow replacement of the bad lines will fail. The bleeder valve is rusted and new calipers may be needed. Estimated total cost approx. $2000. 00 plus. I have owned many cars and never encountered this problem before. I suspect inferior materials are being used for brake lines. I am told this is a very common occurrence. I am lucky that there was no accident caused by my brake failure. I am sure many others are not so lucky. The problem seems very common among cars built by the big three and less so among european auto makers. I suspect bean counters are saving a few dollars per car and to hell with safety!.

Complete failure of brake lines and calipers secondary to rust. Truck (a gm Tahoe) was inspected at the dealer one month ago and passed PA inspection. Approximately 1 month later (1000 highway miles) my truck had to return to the dealer to rectify something they had previously been fixed, unrelated to the brakes. Upon picking up the truck after that repair, the brakes were applied after starting the car to put into gear and the entire break system blew. Thank goodness, the vehicle was not in motion because I would not have been able to stop. The dealer them put the car up on the lift and I was told the entire system was rusted, including all the bolts to the system. The only way to repair was to cut the entire brake line system off and replace. The rear caliper covers also began to rust, so they are also being replaced. I can provide pictures of all areas prior to repair.
The integrety of the brake lines gave causing the brake pedal to go all the way to the floor. This caused a severe negative impact on the trucks stopping ability. All front brake lines needed to be replaced including the calipers. Total $640. 00.
In Nov. 2011, with 79,800 miles, while in my driveway, the brake petal collapsed to the floor. Two front brake lines burst with no warning. There was almost no rear braking power at all. I had to push the petal to the floor, before the rear brakes engaged and barely stopped the Tahoe in my driveway at 5 mph. My 03 Tahoe and my dad's 06 Tahoe have the weakest brakes, of any vehicle we've ever owned. Love the Tahoe-hate the brakes. I had the lines replace and had to replace the front calipers as well. The aftermarket calipers helped the weak braking problem a little, but there is still a design flaw somewhere. Now in Aug. 2013, with 90,200 miles, two more brake lines burst with no warning, while driving 25 mph, again with almost no rear brake power to stop. I barely missed crashing the truck. It's in the repair shop now and the Tahoe needs several lines replaced, 2 that burst and others that are extremely rusted, obviously about to burst. The nhsta needs to look at, not only the rusting brake lines, but also into the weak breaking system on these trucks, including why the rear brakes are so weak. Seems that about 90-95% of the braking power is the front brakes. This problem is discussed all over the internet. This is a serious problem on the Tahoe, from 2000-2006, and this entire brake system should examined and even recalled, it's weak, dangerous and unreliable.
While traveling about 35mph on a side road vehicle suddenly and abruptly pulledto the right. Vehicle started vibrating. Brake caliper had froze. Dealership is aware of the problem. Ak.
Caliper slides froze due to tolerance/corossion, causing vehicle to effectively utilize one brake pad for braking. Dealer noted that this is a common problem and offered to charge me for filing (service bulletin # 99-05-24-001) down the caliper slide to be within tolerance (not covered under "bumper to bumper" warranty - Chevrolet customer service file #000014560). According to napa brake installation istructions for applicable pads (gm part numbers 7024a or 7081a), there is a posssibility of this condition breaking contact between the pad friction material and the metal backing, which would severely hamper or remove all braking power from that wheel. I have a brother with a chevy astro van of similar year, and an uncle with a full size chevy truck of similar year, both of whom have experienced front brake excessive/uneven wear. Thier vehicles were out of the warranty period at the time it was noticed. I feel that chevy has denied me a warranty claim, because this is an inherent problem with thier brake design, and would be too costly to recall. I also feel that because it involves the front brakes (which provide most of braking power) of many large vehicles, that many use for towing, this should be considered for a safety recall, or at least covered under warrany, if discovered under warranty period. Calipers operate improperly, causing uneven pad wear/premature wearout. One pad (on the same caliper) would be completely gone (down to rivets)and the other having more than half its life left. This happened on both front calipers. This caused excessive wear to rear shoes because the front brakes were not fully opetational and the rear brakes were primarily stopping the vehicle. The dealer replaced pads first, later did a caliper rebuild kit, later after vehicle out of warranty, refused to replace calipers, or fix problem. I had calipers replaced at my expense (bendix calipers). I am currently waiting to see if this fixes the problem. Have contacted gm and they now refuse to fix the problem as vehicle is out of warranty(even though problem has occurred repeatedly since vehicle was new).
